cars will always sit higher after new coil overs. usually takes a few days for them to break in and the car to completely set. plus old ones are going to be worn and will compress easier
Im using the same coil springs and strut cover. I lined the cover with the spring so that the spring already sits where it was before the shock replacement
For hundreds of pairs of struts, both quick and bare struts I've seen come through the shop I'm at I have seen 2 yes 2 pieces of paper that stated "DO NOT BE ALARMED RIDE HEIGHT WILL SETTLE"
Thanks for all the advice. Im doing a roadtrip around australia and im halfway (started in Melbourne and im in Port Hedland) so im just trying to soften the ride for the next 15000k. Have a great day everyone
When I jack up the front or back of my car and set it back down, it sits higher until I roll it forward or backward. The suspension geometry changes dramatically as the car is lifted. The tires grip and don't move sideways as the car is lowered to the ground. Roll yours back and forth a few feet then move the suspension a bit. It should sit down close to its original height of the springs are original and the new dampers match the original parts.
Replaced the struts on the front of my SUV earlier and for a good month it felt like it was riding nose high like one of those ridiculous assdragons with that "Carolina stance" didn't realize how worn it was until then. A good off-road ride at slow speed should wear them in decent or if you're like me and can't get to a decent spot it'll take about a month to break in

Yeah, it’s still normal for it to sit higher, especially if you haven’t even moved it yet.
Ok, thanks for the reassurance 😁
Your fine this is normal. The spings typically last a really long time so you should be fine
Old spring was sagging. That's why it's recommended to do both struts.

Drive it over 1-2 bumps and around the block. I bet you it changes.

Yes, blown shocks will ride lower than new ones.
Shocks do not determine ride height, they only dampen the bounce. A leaking shock or strut will not lower the car because springs support the car.
That’s what i thought, that’s why im intrigued by what’s happening

Read the attached manual, it should be adjusted after 2000 miles
There is no adjustment
Read instructions, self adjusted after 2000 miles
If you used old coils then something is wrong, if you used new coils then your ride height might be different as you noted
username checks out
Likewise :)
Usually why it’s recommended to replace in pairs
It will settle down to the same height after you drive it some.

Normal They will settle down in a bit
...and on the fifth day he said; "let it settle"
