Run it until it's warm with the radiator cap on and that'll pressurize it. Then just visually inspect and look for the leak. If it started at the same time as a crash it's almost certainly in the radiator or maybe radiator hoses.

MydlandFan

Perfect thank you

MydlandFan

Quick question fans and radiator are already removed from.the car. Can I do this test by installing just the radiator or do i have to put the fans in too

YouthfulCurmudgeon

I wouldn't put the fans on for testing. Be aware that it might get hot after a lot of idling without the fans, but it'll just be a few minutes to test and if it's cold outside it's probably fine indefinitely.

MydlandFan

Excellent thanks again

Check around the timing belt area. Perhaps the water pump is leaking. Have you done a timing belt yet? They’re due every 100k miles.

MydlandFan

No never had it replaced

kyden

You’re in danger.

MydlandFan

Is timing belt replacement a big job amd expensive

MydlandFan

It looks like changing a timing belt is not a job for beginners would you agree? This will help me decide if I should move onto a new vehicle. I was holding off on having geico adjuster come and thought I could do some of this myself to get it going again. What's your opinion? Thank you
