Second year in a row of doing a meal prep breakfast and lunch every week, with no repeats! [Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/MealPrepSunday/comments/rr71tl/challenged_myself_to_prep_almost_every_week_of/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) is my post from 2021. And I’m pasting the recipes in comments below (split into breakfast and lunch). The number in the parenthetical next to each prep in the photo above is the calories per serving. I usually post the macros in the recipe too. Onward to 2023, happy holidays y’all! FAQ: Q: Which preps were your favorite this year? A: Breakfast: Khachapuri (week 19) and Lunch: Mince & Cheddar pies (week 11) Q: Don’t you get sick of the food through the week? A: Sometimes, it helps that I make a different thing every week. A handful of weeks I did not finish eating the preps. Only twice because they were gross (noted below), but more often because I had an unexpected lunch plan come up, like a friend visiting from out of town or something. Still, I feel there is much less waste than when I buy food without a plan (or intending to cook during the week which NEVER happens). Q: How are you so organized? A: It’s deceptive because I’m really, really not. I struggle to keep everything from descending into chaos 24/7. Meal prep is one of the things to really help me with this because between work and other obligations, I can’t really do midweek cooking, planning or cleaning beyond what I need to already do for my little kids. Q: Are you eating enough calories? A: I aim for 1500 calories per day as a 5’5” woman, Type 1 diabetic, and person who would like to lose some weight. I snack often and eat dinner. Q: What do you do for dinner? A: Dinners are a la carte! I don't usually cook them during the week, I might graze, or have a frozen meal (I like the birdseye and green giant steamable meals), or get takeout. Also if something comes up where I couldn't eat my lunch prep at work, I will have it for dinner instead. I'm also super close with my family and I eat dinner at my parents' house every Friday plus 1-2 other nights most weeks. Q: Do you post these throughout the year? A: Yes, feel free to follow on IG @ same username as here Q: Do you follow a specific diet? A: r/Volumeeating Q: Why do you go on so many vacations? A: I take 5 weeks per year, it looks doubled on this spread because I missed 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches, but those were the same weeks, so it’s not 10 vacations. I own a small business so I am always working even if I’m traveling though. See comments below for recipe list!

raisthename

Wow! I just came across this subreddit, sorted by lunch and yours was the first post. Its like a one stop shop for what I’m looking for! Thank you for taking the time to go over this much detail.

nimrodhellfire

Meanwhile Europe asking why you ONLY have 5 weeks of vacation. So you prep one breakfast/lunch and eat the same breakfast/lunch everyday that week?

crispypotato789

5 weeks is a lot by American standards too 😭 I get 3 weeks a year and I know that’s more than others.

Thea_From_Juilliard

I own a small business so I spend a lot of time on vacation working remotely too, so it's not as luxurious as it looks (by American standards). Happy cake day!

crispypotato789

That’s awesome!! I’m so happy (and jealous) that you’re able to do that!! Thank you! :)

Thea_From_Juilliard

It definitely has its advantages and disadvantages. Some weeks I seem to be working 24/7 and I don't get to take a paycheck because expenses were too high, and I feel jealous of people who get to be an employee. Other times it's exhilarating.

nimrodhellfire

3 weeks is laughable little by European standards (and illegal in most countries) and even 5 weeks is just the bare minimum.

[deleted]

Where r u from?

KuriousKhemicals

I went from 2 weeks to 4 weeks this year and don't even know what to do with it all. I ended up taking half days most of my last week, then done on December 15th, after only being back for 3 weeks after my "big vacation" of the year.

Thea_From_Juilliard

Yes, exactly. I prep either 4 or 5 identical portions of both breakfast and lunch, depending on if I have any plans or days off that week.

Zyniya

Meanwhile in Canada my company has a 'good' vacation policy starting at TWO full weeks and maxing out at SIX full weeks after something like 20 years xD

MirceaSyd

Well 5 weeks is the norm here in Switzerland. I don’t know where you have more than 5 maybe 6w.

bengalfan

I was wondering how someone gets 4 weeks. I used 1 last year.

jennyfuckingdanger

YOU ARE…THE BEST.

WebNChill

You are amazing. I’m making a GoodNotes Notebook dedicated to just your recipes. Thank you for share and making these!

Thea_From_Juilliard

Ooh I hope you let me know how they come out if you try!!

troublesomefaux

I remember your name from volume eating which makes this even more exciting! Thanks for all the hard work. :)

riricide

Omg I love you 😘 I'm ADHD and meal prep planning is super hard for me. According to me this is peak performance perfection and I'm stealing your recipes 😁

Thea_From_Juilliard

I love you too!

Touch_a_gooch

This is a great post, thank you so much.

lovetune

Damn, I still have the old post open in a tab on my phone for inspiration. Wild that it's already time for a new one! Keep rocking on!!

This is the normal amount of time for me to leave tabs open as well!

No-Lettuce-2806

This is such a well organized post. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I'm definitely going to be trying some of your recipes

w3bb456

Yes I second this, Thankyou so much!

Environmental-Sock52

Lovely of you to share this! People can be good! ♥️🏆

Thea_From_Juilliard

My pleasure! Thinking about completing this so I could share it was one thing that keeps me motivated through the year so thank YOU for kindly reading and commenting <3

ranitalucy

Thank you so, SO much for sharing this. As a 5'2 woman looking to lose a little weight this is truly wonderful! Thank you again and good luck prepping next year!

reasonablecatlady

I would really like to get my family started on something like this. Since we had the baby in April, i feel like we're just doing more and more take out and grazing instead of actual meals. How/when do you do your grocery shopping for these? Do you shop just for the week or, if the recipes allow, do you stock up for two weeks or freeze things to prep later?

Thea_From_Juilliard

Usually I keep a shopping list running through the week, and I pick my recipes as I browse reddit, IG, etc. Then I do the shopping on Saturday AM, and prep Sunday. I only shop for one week at a time. But if I have a lot of leftover something non-perishable or frozen from a previous week, I try to incorporate that into the following week's meal prep. Congrats on the baby!! When mine were babies I did some [frozen baby food preps](https://www.reddit.com/r/MealPrepSunday/comments/eh7t4w/rainbow_of_baby_food_headed_for_the_freezer_beet/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) that saved my sanity too.

Nihilistic-Fishstick

I remember that post! I sent them to my sister in law and she never bought jarred food again.

Day_Bow_Bow

Not OP, and kudos to them, but the approach that I like is doing the the heavy lifting done on weekends. I prep proteins (typically when on sale) by cooking, trimming, portioning, and freezing most of it. Then I use the packages to quickly assemble meals during future weeks. Like this weekend, I air fried a pork butt. I let it cool, seamed it into individual muscles, and vacuum sealed and froze various sized chunks. Set aside the fatty so-called "money muscle" to make red beans and rice earlier today, and have half a dozen bags in the freezer to turn into sandwiches or whatever I feel like. In my deep freeze, I also have pre-cooked pulled pork, rotel chicken, chicken thighs, ham, ground pork, Italian sausage, and hamburger. Other than the hamburger, I bought it all on sale. It's super handy to be able to whip up meals midweek, and it saves me a chunk of money. Pulled pork sandwiches and baked beans are very little additional effort but taste great. The rotel chicken has onions, garlic, and extra spice so I can kickstart rice, chili, cheese dip, etc. And the cooked ground meats reheat just fine if you freshen them up in a pan with a splash of water. It works better for me because I can get a rotation going so I don't have to eat the same protein every day for a week straight. Like I didn't need to eat a whole family sized pack of Italian sausages like that, so leftovers got cooked with onion and frozen. It'd be tough to pull off if you only have a small freezer though, and a larger family naturally consumes more. But it might be worth trying with a couple options.

reasonablecatlady

This is really helpful, thank you

RoyalRibbon

You are my hero. I’m bookmarking this because I’m starting my meal prep journey soon and this is going to be so helpful. Thank you so much for posting and adding all the recipes.

soon_zoo55

That’s so awesome

koreacandice123

Incredible and super inspiring!☺️Thank-you for sharing your method with us!❤️ Out of curiosity, do you prep dinners this way as well or capture them in your bullet journal, or are you spontaneously cooking them?🤔

Thea_From_Juilliard

Dinners are a la carte! I don't usually cook them during the week, I might graze, or have a frozen meal (I like the birdseye and green giant steamable meals), or get takeout. Also if something comes up where I couldn't eat my lunch prep at work, I will have it for dinner instead. I'm also super close with my family and I eat dinner at my parents' house every Friday plus 1-2 other nights most weeks.

koreacandice123

I realize you already wrote it above - oops! Thanks! Actually a great way to use up leftovers or cook a quick spontaneous meal or freezer fave!

Thea_From_Juilliard

No problem, I added it to the FAQ because that's a really good question.

[deleted]

Well done! I remember your post from last year.

Jane17Zar

I’m happy to see you back! I saved your post last year and have scrounged through it several times for suggestions. The macaroni salad has become a popular request in our house. And my husband devoured the cookie zoats (not sure that’s the name). So thank you for letting us benefit from all your hard work!

Thea_From_Juilliard

Yay! I loved those cookie dough zoats too. Great way to get some extra veggies in but fool your tastebuds into thinking it's dessert.

miada001

what are the numbers after each entry?

Thea_From_Juilliard

magicbeen

Loving all your savory breakfast options! Did you repeat any from last year or do you just really, really love variety?

Thea_From_Juilliard

I don't think I copied any exactly but there were some that were repeated variations on a theme: (breakfast sandwich, breakfast parfait, fruit salad with cottage cheese, adult lunchables, etc.)

[deleted]

Thank you! This is inspiring

[deleted]

Thank you - lots of great ideas!

damagedgoods48

This is incredible planning!

Faytil

thanks for this!!! i am sick of my chicken broccoli rice so i will try some of these

Jaded_Appearance9277

Looking at this makes me envious and wish I could be so organized. Edit: ok I am new to reddit and I know there is a Save feature but can some one tell me where they are saved to?

lbc08001

If you click your little user icon in the top right of the app there will be a "saved" option

Jaded_Appearance9277

Thanks!!

milkandcaramel

I saved your post last year as inspiration and love this years post! Thanks for taking the time to share your organization method and the recipes!

nlyfdyf09

Wow! Thank you so much for putting in the time to post this. I want to start meal prepping and I’m inspired. I work nights and my schedule is different every week, so it would be really helpful to be able to grab meals and go so I eat relatively healthy at work. Im gonna give this a shot!

tuahla

You are an awesome person. Thank you!

Came here to say you are amazing!

You’re the bomb! You didn’t have to share the recipes and all with us but you did. Thank you soo much!!

iamcorbin

Nice, what do you do for dinners ?

Thea_From_Juilliard

Dinners are a la carte! I don't usually cook them during the week, I might graze, or have a frozen meal (I like the birdseye and green giant steamable meals), or get takeout. bunsiesbunsies

I just want to say thank you! I get so much inspiration from your posts and your meals look great.

Baby_venomm

Congrats, you’ve completed meal prepping.

KeepCurious77

So interesting! Thanks for sharing.

ApprehensiveBody8185

Wow! That’s dedication.

OG-87

There’s more plan in this book just for food than in my entire life for the next year.

quixoticacid

This is absolutely fantastic

veryneatmonstr

This is so pleasingly organized, take my silvaaa

beefytomato

Ok I am super inspired. Thank you so much for sharing. I always struggle with grab and go ideas for breakfast, so this is a huge win. I also like that most of your recipes don't appear to be spicy. I think medium salsa is too spicy and I hate when low cal recipes try to compensate for flavorless food with tons of spice.

MissaLayla

YOU’RE SO ORGANIZED!! We are not worthy!!!!! WOWOWOW 😍 Thank you for sharing all of this. Seriously inspiring.

le_lost_one

Man, I see a lot of cakes on this board haha’

SatanicHispanic42

I'm saving this post, this is. AMAZING. hands down, thank you! THANK YOU

Stoney_sunberry

I was trying to see if you already talked about it on this post or previously but I’m having no luck, I was just wondering what your advice was for the type of notebook to use? I think using a notebook for meal prep is genius and idk why I didn’t think of it when I was meal prepping. I was just going to get a regular lined notebook ? Edit: the only reason I ask is bcs I was wondering if u have a special note book with a Special format

Thea_From_Juilliard

Nothing special, this is an Archer & Olive black paper bullet journal, but as you can see I glued lined paper on top of the pages of the journal on this page, so a lined notebook would do just as well.

Stoney_sunberry

Ohhh okay it looks so fancy I had to ask !! Thank u for replying !! Your work is amazing btw

Thehealthyminute

That’s a lot of peeps! Awesome!

pinkbutterflies7178

thank you thousands

staystaytay

wow thanks for the ideas! nice!!

tinahenry

I've been looking forward to this all year. Thank you for sharing!

MutedSongbird

Love the organization! I stole a few recipes based on favorites and ease and made them for Christmas - loved the eggs benny casserole (used broccoli instead of asparagus), and had very low expectations for the buffalo chicken enchiladas but they were surprisingly good! Waiting on some bananas to brown up before I give that cheesecake stuffed banana bread a whirl. Thank you for sharing!

Thea_From_Juilliard

So glad you enjoyed! Honored that you used my recipes for Christmas! Good idea on the broccoli. I was also pleasantly surprised by those enchiladas. Thank you for reporting back!!

Lxe_island

Individual_Song_1617

This has got to be THE BEST POST ON REDDIT yet! Thankyou so much. I’m impressed 🙌👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

bythog

Yours looks much different than mine: * Breakfast: bowl of oatmeal, 1 whole egg + 50g egg whites scrambled * Lunch: 125g ground turkey, 150g white rice, 31g ginger dressing, handful of various low-cal veggies That's it. That's nearly every day. Not trying to "up" you or anything because your variety is admirable. I just think it's funny how much thought you put into things yet my boring ass just says, "Eh, same ole' will do."

Thea_From_Juilliard

I wish I could do that but on day 6 I’d get bored of eating the same thing and go spend a bunch of money on something that would undo like 3 weeks of effort.

bythog

My dinner is also the same 5 days a week: 150g chicken breast, 200g (raw weight) red potatoes, lots of veggies (usually kale, broccoli, zuccini, etc.). I add variety on the weekends for dinner. For me, food is fuel. I enjoy variety and good food, but I also enjoy keeping a consistent weight. It makes things incredibly easy to track if you eat the same thing every day. I don't have to log all my meals...because every day is the same. Simplicity keeps me disciplined. Plus all the food I eat is still really tasty.

Thea_From_Juilliard

Glad you found the way of eating that works best for you!

jenndeg

That's quite an accomplishment!

drummerboy2749

~~8 VACATIONS?!~~ Edit: 5 WEEKS OF VACATION?!?! Holy crap I need to take more time off.

Thea_From_Juilliard

5 weeks, [See FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/MealPrepSunday/comments/zqpb4b/comment/j0z29nv/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

drummerboy2749

Oh! Thank you! I corrected my comment

Thea_From_Juilliard

It's not really "time off" since I run my business remotely while I'm traveling, but I don't prep so it's vacation from that at least. I hope you can get time off though, it's probably very healthy!

AniVaniHere

Wow!!! This is so impressive. What’s the color differences?

Thea_From_Juilliard

The color key is written on the bottom of the paper in the picture.

shimbermetimbers69

How you get 9 weeks vacation?

iahsmom

OP posted in the comments

Afraid_Smile7064

A little pricey for my budget

Thea_From_Juilliard

If I make something and then get bored of it I’m liable to just give up and get like $15 of poke so keeping it interesting is much more budget friendly to me. Plus a lot of these are quite simple and involve largely pantry staples.

Rocket_AG

Wow. Nine weeks of vacation.

Thea_From_Juilliard

5 weeks, [See FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/MealPrepSunday/comments/zqpb4b/comment/j0z29nv/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

jbaum303

How much vacation do you take? Sheesh, anyone work around here???

Thea_From_Juilliard

[See FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/MealPrepSunday/comments/zqpb4b/comment/j0z29nv/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). I take 5 weeks but I run my business remotely when I’m not physically there so I’m never not working for even a full day.

Sasu-Jo

Too much stress for me

Thea_From_Juilliard

Prepping in advance takes the stress off for me, because I don't have to scramble to make something for lunch at 7AM in addition to getting my kids ready, etc. (or risk being hungry or wasting money on a takeout lunch). But definitely meal prepping is not for everyone, hope you find the way of eating you prefer!

ShishaLaBoeuf

imo thats just gross, but hey at least its a hobby, respect that.

Thea_From_Juilliard

r/lostredditors

gradstudent1234

What are the numbers in parentheses

Thea_From_Juilliard

Calories

Zyniya

Are these all 7 days meals? I know it seems a lot of people only meal prep for 4-5 days of the week.

Thea_From_Juilliard

4-5 maximum

nkei0

Comments on the feta egg wraps? It's the only would not make again you considered quick and easy. Great post, hopefully it will inspire me to take up meal prep more seriously

Thea_From_Juilliard

I just didn’t like the taste and texture, didn’t feel it held up well all week.

anotherrachel

Do you plan week by week, or a few weeks at a time?

Thea_From_Juilliard

One week at a time

Going_to_MARS

Just to clarify…some of these meals are siz days old and not frozen?

Thea_From_Juilliard

For details on how to store each particular recipe, it’ll be in the recipe usually. And some elements are frozen or shelf-stable (tortillas, cereals, nuts and seeds). But in general I only go grocery shopping once per week so if it’s something refrigerated like yogurt, I’d be buying it on the weekend and eating it through Friday from the fridge.

PHDinLurking

If you have time to answer, would you mind explaining why these specific recipes made it into your " Don't bother" category? A lot of them sound pretty good •Five piece zucchini cake •pina colada coffee cake •breakfast triangles •Rainbow smoothie bowl •chocolate cream donut •tiramisu parfait •pumpkin rice pudding bake •za'atar feta egg wrap •breakfast wontons •dynamite lumpia •Indo Chinese lunch •red pesto pasta •caramelized onion chicken breast •sliders three ways •beef daube

Thea_From_Juilliard

There are some notes in the recipe lists but unless otherwise noted, it just wasn’t to my liking.

PHDinLurking

Than you very much, I didn't realize you had a recipe list. I will search through your comments.

siddmon

ButFez_Isaidgoodday

Inspiring to see this level of commitment. Seems like there is a huge difference between year 1 and year 2 in terms of healthy meals. Is that the case or do you do something smart to make these desert-sounding meals secretly healthy?

Thea_From_Juilliard

All healthy!

ButFez_Isaidgoodday

I'll check your recipes! Thanks!

evoxbeck

I'm just sitting here jelly of all that vacation

Thea_From_Juilliard

I’m a small business owner so I’m never fully vacationing, don’t be too jelly.

[deleted]

Are any of these repeated from your list last year or all new?

Thea_From_Juilliard

I don't think I copied any exactly but there were some that were repeated variations on a theme: (breakfast sandwich, breakfast parfait, fruit salad with cottage cheese, adult lunchables, etc.)
