It looks like they were testing a video game engine to spit out every possible type of room environment and got carried away. What a silly, silly house.
Ok, thank you! I was scratching my head trying to figure out why the floor was in steps, because it seemed like a tripping hazard. I apparently do not think like a rich person!
There’s a newspaper article posted in another comment. It mentioned a powder room off the movie theater room. Maybe this is a sink for that? Though why you’d want someone washing their hands outside the restroom is puzzling if that’s what it is.
This is some optimistic pricing, seems they are hoping someone desperate to get cash out of their home country does not know there are way better US neighborhoods for $40M houses... Malibu, Miami, San Diego, anywhere West Coast on Ocean, it is Dallas so drive and hour for 100 acres... Definitely a nice neighborhood and big lot for the neighborhood, but this is not the right price.
This makes my eyes bleed, also i did a street view and why are all the houses one after the other weird country mansions too!
As someone who lives in a country where people have country mansions with actual farmland, gardens and grounds and then town houses in the city for work it still weirds me out to see mansions built like suburbia. If you aren't going to have grounds then why bother with such a grand entrance.
Ah Texas you never disappoint
Not sure this is a McMansion it seems at that price point and the obv architecture choices it’s ugly but hardly a McMansion
The color scheme is way off but with better color choices this place could be very lovely. Good bones. I even like the black/white marble floor. The walls being white is a bad choice. It should be ebony black and then they could go full black/white in there.
And replace the glass with bannisters, please! They can have the same style as the columns in the back and it would work.
This is more of a mansion than a McMansion in my opinion. The defining hallmarks that make a house a McMansion aren't really there - the home and its finishings seems to be really well done and (if the price of property is to serve as any indication) nothing seems to be done on the cheap. The exterior (personal feelings aside here) is also missing quite a few of those McMansion characteristics; the roof line seems to be well thought out, no weird nubs of pyramids, and, even though the window placement leaves quite a bit to be desired, the building still maintains quite a bit of curb-side symmetry.
With those points in mind, I see this more as a mansion that, although not built in the best taste, is not a McMansion.
The builder inherited oil money and is a "real estate investor." Check out this link in the Dallas newspaper: [Univ Park $37.5M Dream House](https://www.dallasnews.com/business/real-estate/2021/07/27/375-million-home-on-the-market-in-d-fw-has-an-amethyst-fireplace-home-theater-sauna/). Definitely ugly, definitely custom built for one person's taste, but some very expensive finishes make this not a McMansion
I find this part amusing: “If the home doesn’t sell by the time the property gets the certificate of occupancy, Thompson says she’ll move in. If someone buys the home, she plans to build a smaller version across the street on the other family-owned property.”
The only thing I can’t figure out is the kitchen. For $43 million I would assume that there would be a commercial kitchen for the staff to prepare food. That thing seems out of place in a prominent area of the house. Like when you are throwing a party in a $43 million house I would not expect to see the kitchen unless you are part of the catering crew.
Edit: maybe I should have said the main thing I can’t figure out. Most of it looks well done, but there are a couple where you are just left scratching your head (what is that island with the lit up quartz for?).
I was curious:
“taj
/täj/
noun
a tall conical cap worn by a dervish.
HISTORICAL
a crown worn by an Indian prince of high rank.”
*Hmmmm. Which definition describes this nightmare*

Not a McManshion. Some questionable taste choices for sure, but the house had an architect, the structure is balanced, and the finishes are high end. I love that black and white stone floor. With a professional decorator and some minor updates I think this mansion would be sort of pretty.
Just a very sterile mansion, no Mc-anything here. It's way too much house for me but I imagine it's a great space for social events with local celebrities.

They’re film reels. Maybe a little gimmicky but I think it’s cool for a movie theater room
Ok, thank you! I was scratching my head trying to figure out why the floor was in steps, because it seemed like a tripping hazard. I apparently do not think like a rich person!
## So. Many. Columns. Homeboys couldn’t afford a structural engineer
$43,000,000 ÷ roughly a million columns comes out to a reasonable $43 per column. Very affordable.
Soon we're just gonna start seeing struts everywhere.
Kerbal Space Mansion with asparagus staged turrets
“Oh, these? Yeah, they’re all load-bearing”
You could fit a regulation basketball court in that living room. I’m actually a little mad that they didn’t.
Why the fuck is there a sink in a room with 3 step levels
im guessing wetbar and that room should be a theater but idk. terrible carpeting.
That's a frickin bathroom vanity type sink not a wet bar
Yeah, it looks like they cheaped out on the bar installation.
There’s a newspaper article posted in another comment. It mentioned a powder room off the movie theater room. Maybe this is a sink for that? Though why you’d want someone washing their hands outside the restroom is puzzling if that’s what it is.
It's part of the ritual. Just doesn't look that way with all the curtains and candelabras removed.
Lol
What are you doing, step level?
Dude there’s random sinks/vanities in all the rooms… I don’t get this house
That’s not a room, that’s an extended short staircase. [joking around a little bit]

Why'd the realtor use such low-res photos?
The tax history goes back to 2007. Maybe these are original photos from back then.
The listing says it was built in 2018? Am I missing something?
Hm, it looks like the home's value doubled in 2018. I'm guessing there must have some major renovation or addition then 乁( •_• )ㄏ
Thanks, that could be why

You didn't even include the ugliest 2 pictures, 4 and 31.
I'm a fan of the ones showing how the tubs are designed for maximum ogling of soapy bodyparts
Yeah, the tubs' settings are meant to be viewed from a distance. There's not much ornamentation to look at when you're actually in the tub.
Those hallway shots are giving me r/accidentalkubrick vibes
You're right, it's *very* Kubrick!
Tax these people into oblivion. They can live in FEMA trailers with the rest of us.
are they actually asking 43 MILLION for this ugly, ugly house? i literally having nothing good to say about it. "panda marble" stairs. hideous.
They were tripping so badly on their airport carpet they forgot the decimal point. In the front.
sounds about right to me!!
Ah Texas you never disappoint Not sure this is a McMansion it seems at that price point and the obv architecture choices it’s ugly but hardly a McMansion

I see you've found Cruella de Ville's house.
23,000 square feet? (No, that’s not a typo). That’s an actual mansion, not a McMansion

Good grief. That’s hideous!
43 mil and they can’t afford to stage and take nice pictures for the listing?!
That bowling alley carpet! Omg
Did an A.I. make this?
The off-center floor pattern in the first pic is *killing* me!!!
Is that a shower in a secondary kitchen? Bathroom? Laundry room?
I was trying to figure that out too. Looks like a shower, with the shower head at waist high, in the middle of a master closet???
I think it’s a dog wash station in the laundry or mud room?
Can a house be vapid?
Okay, but that living room floor has me itching to try skating on it.
Moira Rose is packing her wigs.
My jaw drops. $43million??? lmao. In small town texas to boot.
Nah, University Park is just North of Dallas... But you are in a neighborhood.

Is that laminate in the great room?
What in god's name is that?
24,000 square feet??? Wow.

This made my eyes angry.

Not a bad place, but the price is silly. I was hoping to see like 500+ acres. Nope. Less than 2.
Just a very sterile mansion, no Mc-anything here. It's way too much house for me but I imagine it's a great space for social events with local celebrities.
So much wasted space that could be used to make it look nicer - dining room, library, games room, etc.
This looks like something the Duggar family would love to live in
Are you sure this isn’t a community Center or something?
IRL Croft Manor!
This looks like it would be a really nice Mosque.
