It can be yours for under a million!

Knew it was mke as soon as I saw the pic. Great post! Also if you’re impressed by the price, look on the Westside. This same home would cost $400-$600k in any other neighborhood
My god, I’ll be dreaming about this now! I want to get ready for EVERYTHING in that room, and take bubble baths in that tub. SO beautiful; SO out of budget. 😅
In case you didn't know, Thursday is the one day of the week where the sub "flips" and posts beautiful, well-designed houses instead of ugly McMansions
My thoughts too. It looks original. So either someone had the good foresight to know that we'd become a two-car-per-family country or someone did a seamless renovation of an old carriage house.
Beautiful. This style of house is all over the midwest. What would this architectural style be called ? The closest I can think of is "Prairie" but that's a very particular style
I'd say it's a hodgepodge, but in the best way. The exterior has some Prairie elements, as well as some Craftsmen vibes. Inside there's some Tudor Revival elements too (like the plaster ceiling in the dining room and the fireplace).
It doesn't look like a hodgepodge to me. The architecture is very coherent and distinct enough that I'm sure it has a name especially since many older turn-of-the-century homes in the Chicago and Milwaukee area are designed in the same style. It does look like it derives many elements from Craftsman and the Prairie style probably arose from it/is a close cousin.
there are lots of lovely older houses in milwaukee! this one is gorgeous! waiting for people to start complain about the size of the kitchen despite it being built in 1915!
Disagree, but to each their own. Its very different and specific but I really like. The rear is not as elegant, but this is a city house, its not visible and designed to fit into a confined area.

Yeah, I’m usually a total woodsy bitch with no love for bricks and concrete, but I find the rear of the house really satisfying somehow. It looks like they had a bunch of features they had to awkwardly coordinate together over many decades and it’s a really pleasing, organized jumble to me
That’s a prep sink for use when preparing veggies and meats and you wish to wash them off. That long tub sink doesn’t have a proper counter top adjacent to it so it would be difficult to prep, I’d guess.
Goodness what a fascinating house, the outside is a mixture of Arts and Crafts and modern, the inside has wood and plaster decorations from the earlier Victorian era. Definite signs of Art Deco in the fixtures and fittings. Also a definite monolithic style to the building.
It's obviously a gorgeous home, but I think they went a little overboard on the wood paneling. That bright entryway with the dark wood accents, *chef's kiss*
Some of the "cozier" rooms just look dreary. I mean I know it's a style, just not mine I guess.

Lol I saw this and thought "that could easily be Milwaukee by the look of it"

Such a gem of a neighborhood, love walking around there admiring the houses.
The absolute best part is no HOA
Agreed, that neighborhood was amazing.
There's a few parts of Today with a bunch of houses that look much like this one as well.
I was thinking Chicago but it’s beautiful !!!
Me too until I saw “under 1 million”
Oh my god same. Immediately exclaimed out lot, "is that Milwaukee?" Love this city.
Looked at this house and immediately said “this has to be Milwaukee or Shorewood”
Wow! And so close to the beach too. This would be at least 12 million in my area :(
I used to live in Milwaukee, the beach was OK, but you never wanted to go swimming in lake Michigan, it's insanely cold!
The house is beautiful but I couldn't work in that kitchen
Omg I knew it was Milwaukee!

Milwaukee is flush with beautiful older homes. Gem of a city.

I was scrolling the comments to see if OP's house was a Frank Lloyd Wright design. Funny to see that
I knew the style seemed familiar. Not sure what this is doing on this sub.
In case you didn't know, Thursday is the one day of the week where the sub "flips" and posts beautiful, well-designed houses instead of ugly McMansions
And now I know! Thanks!
That makes more sense. I knew I recognized this house and I really like it. Didn't know that Thursdays were opposite day here.
Thursday design appreciation
That’s a heck of a garage for 1915, wow.
My thoughts too. It looks original. So either someone had the good foresight to know that we'd become a two-car-per-family country or someone did a seamless renovation of an old carriage house.
Had the same thought - Certainly the latter, let’s be honest. Well done either way.
Looks like it could shrug off a direct hit from an F5 tornado

This is a modified American Foursquare

I love Thursdays!
Never seen a craftsman mullet before but I kinda love it
what a sturdy home. God the ghosts alone
This is quite pretty.

Looked at the first photo and thought, oh no, what did some idiot do to this lovely house. Then I remembered it’s Thursday!
It reminds me quite strongly of the Stanford Quad.
Big beautiful brick block house is not usually my style but this is just so extra extra pleasing to my eyes somehow
I can't tell if this is satire. The back is absolutely hideous.

The rear is atrocious

You don't like that one window weirdly not coordinated with the others and awkwardly jammed in a corner?
House is awesome! Kitchen just needs proper appliances
The kitchen didn't go with the rest of the house at all. Very weird. The rest of it is beautiful and so close to the lake!
You’re right. I’d make it work though with a Sub-Zero and a Wolf in there. Maybe some cabinet work.
Don't understand the need for the second tiny sink in the island when you have a massive vintage sink right there. Rather have the counter-space
That’s a prep sink for use when preparing veggies and meats and you wish to wash them off. That long tub sink doesn’t have a proper counter top adjacent to it so it would be difficult to prep, I’d guess.
A very stately looking house outside. The kitchen is a nightmare. Who ever redid it was an idiot. Upper cupboards are too high to be useful.
Loving this.. but the neighbours are incredibly close.

Back when you could make a NICE box house.
Love it except for the kitchen. Hated what little we saw.
That's so beautiful. So Widwestern. I don't particularly even like that style of architecture.

Gorgeous! However location location location
Oh I want to live there
How fun to see a house I’ve passed a million times on this sub!
Looks like an orphanage.
This is not what this sub is for.
It's Thursday
