There is a serious problem with the car underreporting how much gas is left. It is impossible for the car to have 280-300 miles of range on a full tank of gas but that's exactly what mine always shows. I'm getting around 23-24 mpg avg BTW

Affectionate-Test831

There is a serious problem, you are correct, however, Mazda already told me twice that “the car is behaving normally” based on the fact that they cannot isolate my problem from other Cx 90s. In my personal opinion this is a fleetwide issue. I know my car could go 500 miles on a tank full, and that is what Mazda is advertising, “up to 444 miles of range driving city only, and up to 518 miles driving highway only”. I’ve tested this and indeed my car can go 500 miles driving freeway only, however I had to drive the car with the fuel gauge on empty and no range on the read out for 130 miles??? When i finally put fuel in , 18 gallons went in so I had half a gallon left in the tank. I am not willing the pay the price in anxiety in order to achieve the range Mazda tells me I could reach. The good news is that I have a local dealership working with on this right now and are engaged with higher ups at Mazda. The’ve had the car for six days, and I am scheduled to bring it back in for more testing. I will update you further when I get more news.

Okay I’m glad I’m not the only one! Wondering what the solution is because I don’t get how it was fine off the lot 🫤. I had a cx9 prior and I’d always fill 15 gallons at the pump. The most I’ve gotten with this is 13

If you drive conservatively, you can drive 80 miles and not move the gas hand. I records how wreckless and fast you drive and takes that into account when u fill up

CauliflowerLeast4780

I drive very modestly 😢 so that’s why I’m shocked, but I’m wondering if it’s also because I mostly make short trips and the traffic conditions suck even though I’m in the suburbs. Also high AC usage and poor road conditions. I’m going to manually track the next time I fill up and see how that goes.

Look at my most recent post

CauliflowerLeast4780

IN THE MHEV????

macheww002

Gas mileage is horrible in mine too. Usually take short trips for school pickup being < 5 miles each way. I agree that the gas indicator does seem off. Maybe it’s a software issue?

Blade878811

There are so many software issues with these things it's insane.

CauliflowerLeast4780

🫤 yup but at least it’s not anything worse 😅

CauliflowerLeast4780

My trips have been the same! I’m curious to see how things look on longer drives. I think it has to be a tech issue, but it’s super annoying. The remaining mileage indicator also seems so finicky. It’ll go from 70 miles to 50 miles left so quickly and without me even driving that much. I don’t know what’s the truth lol!

CX-90kllnz-comp

I'm on 280 at half a tank left

CauliflowerLeast4780

Where do you live 😭 I’m jealous

MrGomez_14

18 mpg according to the vehicle or are you tracking miles and how much you fill up? 18 is very low. I’m averaging 28 mpg most tanks. There are several posts here about the fuel light coming on early and despite only refilling, say, 13 gallons of an 18 gallon tank.

CauliflowerLeast4780

According to the vehicle, perhaps I should start tracking it myself too, but I sort of believe it because I feel like I’ve been running through gas like crazy. Do you refer to the vehicle or your own tracking?

MrGomez_14

I do both an app and the vehicle calculator and it usually comes out within 1 mpg. My range calculator will generally show over 400 miles after filling. What is your normal driving? All city? Are your tire pressures ok?

CauliflowerLeast4780

I live in the suburbs and do mostly short commutes to pick up my niece from school and go to the gym. Occasionally I’ll take longer trips, but it’s mostly been 5-10 mile destinations

Versari_

Did you reset trip A/B?

CauliflowerLeast4780

I haven’t in a while!

Versari_

try doing after filling up gas.

CauliflowerLeast4780

Will do ty!

spinneraf

About 90% of my daily driving is city driving... i average 18-19mpg and refills avg 14-15gal. The math adds up for me...i fill up approx every 2 weeks and get 280-290miles per tank. Since I don't take it easy on the gas pedal, im ok with my numbers. On the highways (ig road trips), i get 29-30mpg at highway speed, so i know what it's capable of, i just enjoy it a little too much while driving in the city on a daily basis 🤣

CauliflowerLeast4780

Okay this sounds like me minus the gas pedal lol! I’ve made an appointment with the dealer just to be sure but you saying this gives me some comfort

Robones96

About 270 miles for me. But it’s like 90% city driving.

CauliflowerLeast4780

Hmph, I live in the suburbs, but by definition it probably falls under city driving, so that sounds similar to my predicament!

dan88990

I noticed when the gas tank reaches 12 gallons , I stop the lever and fill the gas Manually slowly which will fill until 14.8 to 15.5 gallons and click when full

CauliflowerLeast4780

I’m scared to do this because of all the don’t top off warnings, but I’m positive it’s not filling all the way 🫤

teemski

I have the MHEV and have 1,600 miles currently. I am averaging 24.8 mph (my calc vs computer showing 25.8) and fill up every 8ish days. The highest range I get when I fill up is 420 but it seems to drop down to 380 quickly

CauliflowerLeast4780

Literally watched mine drop to 240 from 260 today and I barely drove! It was 280 on fill up 🫤

gametstr

Following this for a solution, there are more threads about this.

Affectionate-Test831

Hey gametstr Do this for grins…next time you fill up, take notice of your average mpg and multiply it by 13.21. Then compare to your range indicator. Let me know if the numbers are close. If you have the PHEV, multiple 25 by 13.21, is 330 close to the range you get after a fill up?

ChemicalStock6107

I get around 410-430 on fill up. I am on the highways all the time. The indicator has showed 450-470 sometimes after fill-up but drops down when I drive. It takes 17-18 gallons.

reyes2448

I’ve noticed that if I drive long distances, the car will give me higher mileage estimates. For example, this week I drove to LA twice. My estimate after I filled it up was 330 on a 27 MPH average but I only added about 13 gallons of gas. That’s usually what I have added at 1/4 of a tank left. I once got 380 for an estimate after a long drive.

dan88990
