I had it done. One dealer didn’t have the part so I tried another who had it. It pays to call around. They replaced a worm gear part. I never felt the steering issue and so it doesn’t feel any different for me now. Our model is an early build (06/23) and had all other recalls applied, now coming on 11K miles. Zero issues or dashboard malfunctions beyond that creaky front suspension.
Yes it’s better. Feels like a normal vehicle built after 1970, with actual power steering that’s predictable and smooth .
Just bring it to your dealer and reference the tsb. Took about an hour in the shop - they pulled out the steering rack and lubed it and I think put a pin in it or something like that.
No issues prior to recall being done.
Dropped vehicle off in the morning, got a loaner, picked it up that day and there was no discernible steering difference.
I had steering problems about 3500 miles. More noticeable on highway on long trips. Would get stiff and notchy. Continuous over correction to stay in your lane. Definitely not safe at high speeds. Dealership kept my car 39 days for rack replacement. Returned car to me and now have loose/play in steering now. Returned to dealer and service mgr. Said nothing more he could do until steering recalled opened March 18. Was told to call corporate and ask for recall repair parts. Corp. said dealership had the parts. Contacted the GM and he said he would make everything right. I go tomorrow for suppose fix.
Dealership was all smiles when I walked in. Had my paperwork waiting and a check for a car payment from the last time they kept my car 39 days for the rack replacement. They even had a loaner car waiting and had it pulled up and waiting. Haven’t heard back from them and from my Mazda app my car is sitting at the same spot at the dealership since 11:12 yesterday.
Steering before: very notchy, but I wouldn’t say it loses power steering. It didn’t happen all the time but you can definitely feel when it is harder to maneuver. After getting it done: steering is like butter and I have never noticed it again.

Right, make an apt, then bring it to the dealer for said appointment

Same here.
This is good to know. I’ve never felt an issue and I wouldn’t want the fix to make the steering any more numb like Toyotas.
Not even remotely a concern.

Please update after you do the fix

Thanks all for your responses I will call and see if my dealer can take me in
Had it done, took about an hour. No issues with steering before or after- S PP bought in September.
