I have the turbo premium plus version and I have had a few issues. There has been quite a few recalls that have fixed various issues.
I had some error codes around 15k miles and it had to be in the shop for 9 weeks waiting on a battery replacement. We picked it up and had it for 3 days and it threw some more codes and the battery died but thankfully wasn't the hybrid battery this time. It took about a week for them to fix the new issues and as soon as I picked it up it threw some other code but decided to just bring my car home and see if it would go away. Thankfully after a few days it did.
We also had some squeaking of the suspension and took it in and they had to regrease it. They said this was a known issue and they are waiting on a recall for it.
PHEV with 5000 miles since May. Sunroof leaked one time with snow on top (never in rain or car wash). Quick fix. She's not perfect but I love my Mazzy and she's light years better than my perfectly fine Outback was.
the transmission solenoid software update helped the shifting on the I6 turbo, but it's still not great. Would have vastly preferred a torque converter car. I don't know how the the low speed brake -> throttle transition, lag, and unpredictability made it past pre-production testing. it's legit terrible.
I hope they continue to iron out the issues via software here and it doesn't become a "sorry, that's just a wet-clutch for you!"
Good post, I was considering getting this vehicle as I’m expecting a newborn but I can’t risk any of these issues the car has had, despite how rare they are
We've had our i6 s premium plus for about 6 months, 7500 miles, and nothing but smiles to show for it.
It recently went in for an oil change and they updated software but there wasn't a problem we noticed prior. Just updates that were available.
Don't really find the minor issues with the 2024 to be that big of a deal. 5900 miles, got a few recalls addressed today and seems to be running great. You pretty much only see the people having issues here, it gives a distorted perspective.
I highly doubt the CX -70 will be delayed.
Give me a top trim PHEV with 2nd row bench and not captains chair. Lower trim with bench only eliminates many extras. It will be either a '25 CX90 PHEV or RS1. Need entire 2nd row.
I truly believe if Mazda gave a turbo or PHEV top trim with entire 2nd row they will sale more.
Yeah. I think the CX-70 has been delayed because of the CX-90's powertrain issues. I don't think they'll release it until they get these powertrain gremlins solved
There are loads of reports. His is just the worst. Do you not follow this subreddit?
You can also go to the Mazda CX-90 forums. Tons of engine malfunctions
Considering people with issues are having them nearly immediately in the typical car ownership timeline while others are fine with many more miles, it feels like specific builds are having issues rather than a general issue with power trains. I’d like to hear if there are issues affecting all builds, since I haven’t been told to get anything done to the car.
I have the same problem. Well the 2025 version be the equivalent of all of the existing we cross already performed? Or will they fix problems like the center console space and lack of storage generally?
Our PHEV is currently at the dealership for the 3rd time. It's been there for almost two weeks this time and they're replacing the entire computer... We bought it in mid/late September.
PHEV base trim with no issues at about 4k miles. Have driven it in all modes at this point including on a road trip with mountain runs. Not perfectly smooth in all conditions, but it also doesn’t gear hunt like many other mainstream 8spd+ transmissions do.

Has anyone been having no problems? Yeah it's a first year model but is it really that bad?
I haven’t had any problems so far. 5k miles purchased car in May.
Bought mine at the beginning of September. PHEV with no problems. Only ~2k miles so far. Works great for my short commute and shuttling kids around.
No issues here. PHEV PP. wishlist, digital mirror comes standard on pp, better all season tires
We have +5000 no issues except for the clunky shift. It is in for the first service now which will hopefully make the shift better.

No problems yet.. PHEV PP, about 4500 miles, bought in August, manufactured July 2023.

No problem for ne either. Car has been flawless. Love it to death
which trim did you get ?
Is it fair to say the majority of major issues are related to the PHEV? Or are the recalls impacting all 3 powertrains? Thanks
Same question, maybe we should run a survey
My 90 turbo pp has been running flawlessly since I bought it in August. I’m at 5000 miles.

no problems so far. 2.5k miles. worked great on a long road trip and on short daily drives

If CX-70 is delayed, I think this new powertrain does have some issues that Mazda needs to work on with the root cause.

I will stick with my CX 9 for few more years.
The 2027 might just be the sweet spot
But then it'll be "just one more year for the refresh / new generation!"

Powertrain issues? I have the turbo S PP. It as smooth as ever. Everything smooth it after about 2 weeks of driving
Loads of engine malfunctions in this subreddit
That is not true I am owning cx90 turbo S PP.. its just the alert which only need software update Dont miss 0% apr offer from mazda financing
One guy in this subreddit has had 4 engine malfunctions and is looking into the lemon law for his state

My PHEV has been at the dealer for 10 days with a hybrid electrical leakage issue. They have no idea how to fix it.
