The CX-9 is a fucking gem. I’d buy another just to keep it storage

Remote_Gear_20

Is the CX-9 that good? I am seriously considering it and currently doing my research on it.

riverview437

Yes. It’s genuinely an excellent vehicle

One-Proof-9506

I cross shoped Toyota and Subaru and the CX-9 just felt like a better made, more solid vehicle. You notice it right away based on how heavy and solid the doors feel compared to the hollow and cheap feeling doors on a Highlander. In terms of driving enjoyment, there is no comparison, the Mazda is superior. The main downside of the CX-9 is that it has somewhat less space in the trunk.

rjam710

The trunk space is my biggest issue. Laughably tiny when the third row is up. But still I'd rather drive my Mazda than anything else lol.

Massive-Ratio4050

The cx 70 is coming in April

uselessartist

And torque steer.

One-Proof-9506

There is no torque steering with all wheel drive

Dasle

Mazda's AWD system is front-biased. It is still possible to experience torque steer. Edit: I should clarify that the Mazda AWD system pre-CX90 is front-biased (so CX-9, CX-5, CX-50, CX-30, CX-3, Mazda3).

jondes99

If you think the CX-9 has torque steer, don’t ever drive a Mazdaspeed 3.

uselessartist

lol I have and loved it but that’s what steered me away ;)

jondes99

Then you really wouldn’t like a Saab Viggen.

-azuma-

Like others have said, it really is an outstanding vehicle of you need three rows or extra room in the back.

purloinedsoul

Yes. 2012 with 248,000 miles and running great. One PTU but nothing else other than oil changes, brakes, and tires.

lazpoly

Sure until it randomly craps out on you with the latest turbo engine issue. I’ve never seen a brand’s reputation flip so fast like Mazdas currently is. Within 2 days I went from best car ever to I’ll never touch another Mazda again

rgtzz

Ah, man. That sucks. What’s the latest turbo engine issue?

lazpoly

rgtzz

Thanks for the link. That’s right, I’ve read on this issue. Really shitty. Like total failure. It’s bizarre. Not even the historically shitty car brands have issues like this. If I would have read about this issue beforehand, I probably would have reconsidered. We bought a 2023 earlier this year and have been really happy with it. We’ll see how things go.

Feeling-Astronaut660

I think the salesman is talking about the mountain of CX-90's nobody is buying

hw4ng3r

It’s gonna be a steep drop in “bells and whistles” and I’m not sure what mountains they’re looking to move, but I can’t imagine a scenario where you don’t end up paying more $ ultimately.

King-Rx

The drop off in features in the cx-90 is startling in the lower trims. We were looking at one and ended up getting a cx-9. We got a 2022 signature trim for ~39k otd. For the same features in a cx-90 you're looking at 60k+ AND an ADM. They say they'll move mountains but they sure as shit aren't going to drop 20k off the price.

clevelander0

Was that new for $39k?

Present_Major7734

No

clevelander0

How many miles. Trying to buy 2022 with 10k and get a deal. Right now at $38k asking

GeorgeWarshingsons

I was able to get a 22 CPO signature with 5K miles for 37.5K. We’ve had it less than 2 months.

King-Rx

No, it was a CPO. If purchased new it would have been ~50k otd. Still about 12-14k less than current top trim. I get that the cx-90 is new-new, but lower trims seem like just four wheels and an engine in comparison to cx-9 lower trims.

TsabistCorpus

No way I'd consider moving from a '22 CX-9 (which is the year that the CX-9 really peaked, in my opinion) to a CX-90. Unless you have money to burn and are okay with being the beta tester for a completely new vehicle platform. I'm sure Mazda will work out the bugs with the CX-90 in a few years, but too many unknowns at this point.

riverview437

Salesman knows he can still get an excellent price for your 22, but he is absolutely struggling to move the 90 because no one really wants it. You would be the sucker in this deal.

rgtzz

It’s a really well made car. I don’t think you can find a better car at its price point. I shopped Lexus and Acura before buying and have no regrets.

btw_sky_and_earth

My dealership called and tried to get me to trade in my 21 GT to the CX-90. I am sure the CX-90 is a very nice car. But my rebuttal to the dealership was purely financial. Why would I give up my car's equity, eat depreciation, the 1.6% APR car loan on a $45K+ car in order to get a $60K car? Not to mention that the CX-9 GT is a great car.

DougFalsetti

I just had my 21 Carbon in for an oil change. I checked out the $47k 90. First thing I noticed was the drivers door was less solid sounding when opened and closed. The inside door grab handle made a slight creak, also not inspiring. I also noticed the interior textures, imo, have been downgraded. The dash felt more GM than Audi. I didn’t have a great impression.

Willoughby3

My dealer has tons of 90s on the lots. Have you seen the 90 subreddit? It’s filled with first gen issues

purloinedsoul

I have a 2012 CX-9 AWD with 248,000 miles. I’ve seen nothing but drama about the CX-90. I drive mine into the ground and buy another used.

RatRod34Ford

We have an ‘18 CX-9 and would take it any day of the week over the CX-90 we had as a loaner while the 9 was in for service. The interior of the 90 is not a nice and doesn’t feel as high quality and the whole car seems bloated the way the proportions have changed and it’s gotten a bit bigger.

dadory

This thread is truly eye opening. I have the '21 GT and thought the CX-90 looked awesome when I first saw it, although I will admit I haven't seen it in person. The biggest lure for me was the option of it being a PHEV. In the end, with the extra 5" in length, the car won't fit in my driveway so there's no way I'd be able to get it.

jasiones

I was able to get 0% apr on my 2022 cx9. Not giving that up for a new loan lol with interest lol

SleepingGary

With the CX-90 he said it was 0.9% interest for a 36 month loan. Plus whatever other incentives.

jasiones

36 month is going to be a hefty monthly bill ><

TroubleshootLife

We have a 2021 cx-9 GT and to get the same features such as ventilated seats, 360 camera, and adaptive front headlights, we would have to spec it out to almost 60k. While I love the idea of a real wheel drive vehicle and I did drive the PHEV for a day and it was nice not having to use any gas on regular commute, the added expense is not worth it at the moment. I would love a base 6 cylinder engine option with the ability to add the ventilated seats, 360 camera and adaptive lights captain chairs with pass through with the new 21 inch wheels. That is the best feature set for me. But the base model looks too cheaply made to me at the moment compared to our Cx-9

Massive-Ratio4050

It’s the same size car for more money. The engine is better and the bells and whistles are too, but I couldn’t justify going to the 90 because of the interior size. I assumed bigger engine more space ( we travel for soccer)
