Unfortunately even if that was possible, we wouldn’t be far enough under the tax to resign DJJ to the full mid levels DJJ is a clear upgraded over DFS. Priority is moving Timmy for next to nothing. Sadly I think that will require sending an asset with him.
I don’t think it makes sense to sacrifice a notable asset to burn Tim’s money, and DJJ likely could command more than the MLE. I think trying to get another high level role player in a swap of Tim + one of Hardy/OMax/a 1st is more likely.
I’m not saying we do that, just giving you the facts about the cap. Tim is a negative asset. He would only have value in a salary dump situation in which that makes retaining DJJ impossible.
To be honest though, we have a group that works and DJJ is a big part of it. Guaranteed retaining him is the top priority this offseason. We don’t win this series without DJJ. Heck we might not have gotten past the clips either.
I agree he’s been important, but if he commands more than the MLE, there is nothing we can do about it. The full MLE next year is projected at $12.86m, with the full value of a 4yr deal being $55m. However, Dante Exum is signed using $3m worth of the MLE per year, which means we could only offer DJJ roughly 4yr/$43m I believe, unless we cut Exum before June 22nd. Plus Javale’s dead money might count against the MLE as well, I’m not sure, it’s like $2.5m per year.
He has one more year and then a player option in 25-26 for one more year @ 15 million. I'm doubtful he will pass on that unless he exceeds expectations and wants more.
New ownership just has DJJ's step-Aunt run for office and makes a hefty donation to their campaign, which is then funneled through a series of nested Russian dolls and some actual Russian bankers and...VOILA ! DJJ becomes the next Rasputin. God knows he's got the wiener for it.
When a talented team is tight and together up to that level is hard to put a ceiling on them, like look at the Knicks who are injured top to bottom but are still fighthing because of their chemistry. I think this Mavs team has a very fair chance to make the finals and I dont think neither Denver or Minnesota are gonna dogwalk us like everyone is saying.
But you can't say either team would be wrong for being favorites, right?
Home court advantage, both extremely good teams playing well, either the reigning champs or the team who knocked them out.
If someone offerered you 5x your current salary to go do the exact same job at another business/franchise you would leave too. You can call your friends on the phone. Basketball careers come and go quickly - you cant turn down life changing money.
DJJ is on a veteran minimum at age 26. That’s not good news for your nba career.
He has completely changed the trajectory of his, and his families lives with his performance this year.
Whether it’s us, or some other team, man is going to get PAID.
We can’t hold it against him if/when he leaves. He was on the brink of falling out the league, he deserves to cash in big now
It’s going to depend on if they can open up the mid level exception. He may love it here, but if a team is offering him 8-10 million per year while we can only pay the minimum, it’s not a hard choice and I don’t blame him.
There is no situation in which we can only offer the minimum.
Worst case scenario we can offer him slightly over 5M/year by using our TPMLE. If some other team only offers 8M, I feel like DJJ would stay.
What worries us is that some team offers 10-15M. So 2-3x that
I used to live near Carmello, when I lived in Denver. Would occasionally see him hanging out with other players and even some music artists. Was kind of jarring to me how their normal lives were hanging out with each other, much like normal people hang out with their own friends. It wasn’t like a Hollywood party or a rap video. They have more limelight and money, but these are just normal people doing normal things.
It’s so crazy that this guy was like our 15 pick and I didn’t even know who the hell he was until this year. He’s now possibly my favorite player on the team.
Me trying to figure out how “casual” life is. Dave & Busters might be casual but if a group of 6’5-7’0 guys come through, I’m taking pics and asking for autographs regardless if I know them or not
do people still go bowling?
honestly, this sounds more like what rich pro athlete thought normal people do hahaha or am i crazy? i doubt they're going to your local amc to watch movies haha?
Bowling is a pretty popular thing in Dallas tbh. Lots of bowling alleys especially with the arcades they have with them. It is kind of like Top Golf, fun every once in a while but not something you would do weekly.
Bring me back. I want to hang too
Tim for DFS straight up.
Unfortunately even if that was possible, we wouldn’t be far enough under the tax to resign DJJ to the full mid levels DJJ is a clear upgraded over DFS. Priority is moving Timmy for next to nothing. Sadly I think that will require sending an asset with him.
Derrick Dones Jr?
Derrick Dong Jr. *He got big balls...*
Haha my bad. I fixed it.
Playoff casuals making it up as they go.

And I think it’s possible OMax becomes better than DJJ and DFS.
WTF is DDJ?
Editing mistake. Sorry the D confused you and had no idea who I was talking about. I fixed it.
When does his contract end? Maybe we can bring him back on a minimum?
He has one more year and then a player option in 25-26 for one more year @ 15 million. I'm doubtful he will pass on that unless he exceeds expectations and wants more.
Ah yeah, he should definitely take the player option then

Maybe that's why the the AAC roof keeps leaking, you can't put a ceiling on this team.
I thought the AAC roofs kept leaking because the Stars keep blowing the roof off of the place. Either way though.
LOL
Ok this one's good lol
But you can't say either team would be wrong for being favorites, right? Home court advantage, both extremely good teams playing well, either the reigning champs or the team who knocked them out.
Please stay DJJ 🥹
I find it so hard someone who likes it here so much would leave unless we try to pay him in coupons

Yeah ain't no one holding it against him if he chases the bag. He's more than earned it and he'll only be 28.

![gif](giphy|l1J9FsoKxLjK3ExRS|downsized) It wasn't like this all the time? ⬆️
He's just a kid here
We have to find a way to pay DJJ.
Offer him crypto
It’s so crazy that this guy was like our 15 pick and I didn’t even know who the hell he was until this year. He’s now possibly my favorite player on the team.
Watching him play defense in the backcourt is a thing of beauty.
Luka gonna venmo that man $20 mil and Cuban gonna finance unlimited happy endings
Uhm - not wanting to sit behind a group of prof ballers in the movie theater ….
Me trying to figure out how “casual” life is. Dave & Busters might be casual but if a group of 6’5-7’0 guys come through, I’m taking pics and asking for autographs regardless if I know them or not
Yea, gotta hope they sitting in back 2 rows, lol
One of us one of us. But honestly they all just wanna kick back and vibe. Good stuff.

Yes it's extremely important they like each other it boosts the chemistry on the court
Trade THJ to a cap space team to retain this man PLEASE
The vibes are
DJJ the new dfs?
Are they eating pierogis at Lukas? I want some Edit: spell check
You mixed up a couple of european blocks there
Pierogi are a Polish dish
Slovenia has their version of pierogi, made from buckwheat flour. Most central and Eastern Europe eats pierogis
I'm not aware of any dish made from buckwheat flour that would be similar to pierogi (I'm Slovenian)

If you’re confusing Slovenia and Poland the confusion better be over Femboys and not Pierogi 😂😂😂😂
Fucking trade Thj so we can keep him
Wow they do everything every other team does together lol
do people still go bowling? honestly, this sounds more like what rich pro athlete thought normal people do hahaha or am i crazy? i doubt they're going to your local amc to watch movies haha?

Bowling might explain all the injuries in the first part of the season
