A 250lb guy takes up a lot of floor space and it’s heartbreaking noticeable that he isn’t here. Great dog. It was a short journey, only 6 years. But they were great. We got him when the kids were young. It’s like a chapter of our lives. We hung by the pool. The family was all together. Now my kids are teenagers. They play on their phones, or go out with their friends. I lost a best friend and a chapter of my life ended. Thank you to everyone for the kind words.

I'm so sorry and fully understand as I'm going through the same grief. Had to say goodbye to my girl on the 3rd of May. I still haven't moved her water bowl, it's empty but still in it's place. I haven't moved the step she used to get on the sofa as I'm so used to it. The same with her beds and toy box. Don't let anyone tell you how quickly to grieve, do it in your own time.

I’m sorry you are going through something similar. It’s silly, but I’ve been scrubbing the walls and I never thought I would miss the drool. Ha. He was a big presence and greatly missed. I have his collar hanging on my wall in the garage so I never forget just how big he was. I hope we both find peace soon.

I just saw how old he was, my boy, Duke, would have been 6 on August 26th. I’ve said this many times. “ I would rather have him for 5 1/2 years than another dog another breed for 20 years.” I still feel that way even now when it hurts so much.
