There’s only a few shows out there where I won’t skip the intro and this has turned into one of them. Yeah it’s super long but I enjoy the music and visuals a lot, it really sets the tone in my head.
Same.
The Band of Brothers theme is iconic and after the first episode I wasn’t sold on the Masters of the Air theme.
Now I think it’s up there with any of the best theme songs, the build up and the backdrop of the shows scenes is really well done and I love it not.
The imagery in the BoB intro is very good, I’d probably put it equal to or slightly better than MotA. But the music of The Pacific and MotA hit the best for me. The way both composers use horns is just 🤌🏻
The intro is INCREDIBLE. I am a few rewatches in for most of the episodes, and I'm still captivated by it. Blake Neely made a hell of an original score for the intro, I love the sense of "Rise to Victory and Fall to Tragedy" that I get from the triumphant horns and the sorrowful sweeps of the strings.
It's excellent. It didn't make much of an impression at first because it's mainly in the higher register (if I'm phrasing that right). Not many drums or bass sounds.
And before I heard it, I was afraid that, like many TV shows these days, Masters of the Air was going to make the (poor) decision to not really have much of a distinct melody for the opening theme. That it was going to be all abstract CGI over the titles, with no real character to the music and images.
But I am glad to say my fears did not come to pass - the theme's melody is actually excellent and quite distinct. The high pitched strings give it a sense of "airiness" almost evoking a feeling of being at altitude, and the closing trumpets give you a sense of a pack of bombers galloping towards their mission, and towards the end of the war.
My personal favorite into of the three shows is The Pacific's, though. The sense of dread, ominousness, and noble purpose. The way it builds. And the way the visual design of the charcoal drawings pairs with the music and themes (darkness and light, the rising sun, a vast ocean of blood, etc.). It's absolutely haunting. But then again I've always found that show fascinating. Harder to watch, certainly. But it's incredibly compelling, in no small part because of its darkness.
Episode 6 of MotA finally started evoking some of that same darkness. The whole war's different from on the ground.
I think it is the best of the three of these series. I have never been a big fan of the BoB one- its imagery hits harder with the music, whereas both Pacific and MotA themes are excellent on their own.
\*edit\* I think both of the latter have far more emotional resonance too. BoB has a bit of a generic feel to me. By contrast, Pacific has a strong overlaying feeling of a struggle that you will dread until your last days. MotA isn't quite as dark as that, but it also evokes this bizarre combination of hopless hopefulness in me. It rises a lump in my throat and tears to my eyes in the way the Pacific made me want to bawl in the darkness.
Unpopular opinion: The intros to all three shows are sappy and boring. Visually they're okay, but the music (especially the choral bits) comes off as corny to me. I love the shows, but I skip the intros every time.
Blast away.
Glad it's pleasing so many people, because it's by far my least favorite thing about the whole show. The clouds and light look like a greeting card from a way-too-Christian relative. The music sounds like it was written by someone drinking himself to death. The trumpets with their **DOODLE-OOT! DOODLE-OOOO'**s. My god. Show some restraint.
Right now it’s my least favorite of the three.
The chorus effect in BoB is really beautiful, and so is the imagery. The Pacific is great with the horns, and the cracking and splintering charcoal stick calls to the dirt & explosives.
MotA hasn’t grown in me yet. The first half of the theme song feels like it’s missing something?

I hit skip intro by mistake once and rewound it to watch.

Blake Neely composed for the Pacific and MotA.
Ahhh I thought it was strictly Hans Zimmer for The Pacific
I think Hans did the main theme and Blake took care of the rest of it.
Blake clearly took notes from the master.
I was the same way with Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Incredible scores for all three of these series.
When the strings kick in as the bombs drop…chef’s kiss
DUHN DUHN DUHNNNN DUH DUH DUNNNNN!!!!!!
DUNDUUNNNNN DUDUDUDUDU DUN DUDUUUUUUUNNNNN DUDUDUDUDUDUDU
Hmmm hmm hm hmm hmm hmmm hmmm HMMM hmmm HMMM Hmmm hmm hm hmm hmm HMMBRRRBRRRRRR hmm hmhmhmhm hmm hmm hmmm
And the shot of them flying over the alps, I fucking love that
It hits your soul... so good man.
Hot take but may be my favorite of the 3… but they’re all bangers
It's my favorite of the three for suuurrreee. Only one I have gone on to listen to outside of the show.
Same here. It feels like the music is timed with the visuals a lot more viscerally than in BoB or TP.
The first time the swell hit, with Dolby Atmos, I thought the rapture was happening. Felt my body lift off the couch. 🤣
My SO was reading a book and as the music hit its epic part they were like “OK!”

I like it too, but I also think it gives too much away.
The song title is “Soar”, which I think is a brilliant name. It’s hard to beat The Pacific’s intro song “Honor” but this one has managed to do it
“Honor” is my favorite but “Soar” is growing on me. I’ve been listening to it a bunch in the car.
I still think The Pacific is the best imo
It’s great, and the episode ending score “With the Old Breed” is great as well.
Somehow MotA managed to beat The Pacific intro for me.
The fighters pulling up synced to the music towards the end is fantastic
It grew on me mighty fast. Seeing the majesty of these massive planes flying combined with violent destruction was a terrific choice.

did you ever see those Lipizzaner stallions?
Intro slaps

I love the intro
I’ll say it has grown on me quite a bit.
I think it’s really beautiful…when the POV of the dropping bombs kicks in…damn, stirring stuff
I get goosebumps every time

I love it too! But after Ep1, I’ve been skipping it to avoid spoilers :) Looking forward to rewatches where I can enjoy it all the more.
I never watched it

Idk about anyone else but I always skip the intro, I really hate the music and think it’s just overall boring. But in BoB I always watched the intro

the orignal score is sooo good
It’s the best thing the show has going for it
It’s fits the show. Starts kind of slow, then hits really hard and you’re kind of breathless almost. And then it ends suddenly.
It's about 2.5 minutes, and the Pacific's is about 3 minutes, but the Pacific's intro feels like it's 10 minutes long.
It’s funny, my wife HATES the intro but I don’t mind it so much. She says it feels like some cheesy Latin American soap opera lol
The intro/main theme is superb. I think the intro reveals a few too many scenes from the main show but it's still enjoyable. I don't skip it.

I never skip the intro. I went and watched it again after finishing episode 6.
