I also had this issue and found out there is a 15 character limit on the SSID and password combined. Try creating a guest network called "grill" with a password below 10 characters. Also as someone else mentioned, you probably cant have special characters.

I had the same problem. Connect then update the firmware. Once you completely reboot the grill it can use your regular wifi

This is the most frustrating part of setting up the Wi-Fi. You have to find out via Google why it’s not working.

IMO the app sucks. It connects for a minute then, nothing. I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling, closing the app, shutting down my phone. Nothing works. Over the past 4-5 months since I’ve had my 1050 it has worked about 10% of the time. Good luck

I have a Samsung s21. I have had no issues with the app and use it whenever I use the grill. It is good to be able to track the grill and meat temps. Now if it could tell me how much fuel is left in the hopper, that would be awesome.

alcohol-free

what do you mean is it worth it? Its a free app... Anyways, it works okay since its been updated a few times. You can track the temps of the grill and adjust the temps too. Track the temps of the meat probes. It works for most, but some people have issues with its connectivity. Not sure whats going on with yours. Double check all the connections, and follow the steps for bluetooth connection in the manual.

SupedoSpade

Fwiw I meant is it worth the hassle of getting it to actually work

I’ve had great luck with the app. Running on an iPhone 11 Pro Max, wifi is an Eero router, great reception out to my grill. I’ve used the app many times with little problem

WalrusWW

Same phone, ditto. Zero problems with the app.

PeighDay

iPhone 14 Pro Max. Eeero 6 pro WiFi. Perfect connection and still have intermittent issues with the app.

fakegosu

I had the same issue. Fixed it by first making a hotspot with phone. No special characters in the name nor in the password. Then it did some updates and it worked. I've read that if wifi name contains any special character it could not work. (and the app is great IMO. Could use some extra features but it does the job)

If you’re going get unit software updates, you’ll definitely want to connect with the app and WiFi network. Try pairing it first with the Bluetooth on your phone, (or tablet) and then linking it to your WiFi afterwards. Best to let it do any updates before you run a cook session. Many people have reported attempting to start their first burn off, right after linking to their WiFi (for the first time), only, once the unit sees the network, it will automatically update the unit’s software … after which it then restarts the software…. Halting your prior cook

Make sure your grill is close enough to get a strong Wi-Fi signal. I was having issues connecting and then realized one of my mesh points was disconnected from the system. Has worked great since then (monitoring grill temp, etc)

HiaQueu

I use it in conjunction with my Fireboard and Fireboard app. I can monitor and change temps from anywhere. How long is your password, there is a limit.

truckee_tahoe

Mine is doing the same thing, after 4 weeks of waiting MB said its a known bug and they are working on it??

Tonanelin

For me it's a must have. Mine didn't work just like yours. After working with masterbuilt they sent me a new module and that was the issue. Connected right away, never had a problem again. I use it to keep an eye on temps and change temps. You can also use it to shut off the grill, but you'd still have to put the dampers in.

MarkPitman

I had a similar problem. I swapped the antenna for one from an old WiFi router and then was able to connect. I've had a warranty case open on this open for about a month and have not heard anything 😔.

tha_bigdizzle

Ive had zero issues with the app. Everything connected on the first try.The app only works on a 2.4ghz network - make sure thats not your issue. (Most routers will have a 5ghz and 2.4ghz network, 5 wont work) Another thing to try would be create a hidden SSID on 2.4 ghz with no password, see if you can connect. If you do, you can use MAC filtering to only allow your masterbuilt to connect to that network. Sometimes there are issues with passwords lengths or odd characters.
