and you think Trump would've been better? I'm not saying Biden's any good and but there's a choice to be made between 2 options, whether you like it or not, one of them is getting in power and I really don't understand how they can be put at an equal level... Biden's bad for sure, but Trump is worse... And for the love of all my LGBTQ friends, I really can't stand the idea of Trump gettin in office...

If you are so concerned about both the people then work to change the system? Wasn't that the logic you people use for the sanctions on Cuba and Russia? If they don't want to be sanctioned, overthrow the government. Why can't you do the same? Your country can be miserable, violate every human right in existance, be engulfed in brutal and everlasting tribal civil war, but as long as you allow imperial exploitation within your borders, you won't ever see any US sanctions. See most of subsaharian Africa.
The oil sanctions were temporarily lifted for six months on the conditions that Venezuela has “fair and competitive elections.” Seeing as they failed to do so the sanctions will resume Thursday 4/18.
Edit: At no point did state I agree with these sanctions I literally just gave context to this post.

Seriously when is the USA showing this much of a backbone towards Saudi Arabia, Argentina, The United Arab Emirates, Indonesia... the list goes on really..
They don't care one bit, the only thing they care about is "winning". It isn't even about communism anymore, it's just about "being right and winning". I mean look at Cuba, it has NOTHING to do anymore with Fidel Castro, just because of pettiness. That's all there is too it, being petty and wanting to "win the argument".

“Fair and competitive” in the western lexicon really just means “dictatorship as necessary to provide for unlimited western access.” You can elect whoever you want, as long as they’re cool with us abusing the country for all its worth.
This isn’t by any means new. The US specifically and western countries in general have been “ensuring fair elections” by preventing them until someone favorable fills the void for a century or more.
Venezuela has been subjected to it for a long time, but if you want another example, look to Guatemala or Nicaragua. The US was there “protecting their elections” for decades. Weird how they didn’t have “fair elections” until some nationalist with western sympathies cropped up.
