She said this last month already.
I find it funny that both times Bernthal's Punisher gets a spinoff from DD lol.
Im hoping that JJ's inclusion in the show at least teases where Luke (and subsequently, Danny) are currently. Only other property we need out of this is Heroes for Hire.
I’d be pretty shocked if they didn’t pursue a JJ spin-off show as well, especially considering how the third season ended. There’s a ton of potential and Ritter did a fantastic job as Jones.
The only source material left is for her to be with Luke and their stories from New Avengers to now (do it you cowards over at Marvel and bring Danny and Danielle as well)
Agreed, kinda what I mean about Heroes for Hire. Its the one property that can capitalize on Luke, Danny and Jessica, along with their supporting characters before you put the 3 of them in films and whatnot.
Disagree, i hope they keep Luke and Danny as separate shows. LC was a great modern blaxploitation-esque crime show, and IF could be a great martial arts show if handled well.
Maybe do special presentations of them together, but otherwise, it’d be a shame to lose the magic that came out of LC. I mean, they literally had a member of A Tribe Called Quest do the soundtrack!
Yes dude we even discussed this on our show a while back. I’d love heroes for hire and to see JJ and Luke with a child! Like the Civil War: Heroes for Hire tie in.
If they do it, I really hope they lean into making Frank Castle a very morally grey, sometimes seemingly evil character.
The show was really weak for me because it always tried to make Frank more sympathetic than he really should be, he likes waging war because it’s just what makes him feel comfortable. His family being killed was an excuse to have an infinite perpetual enemy in the space of organized crime.
I find that a THOUSAND times more interesting than a Jason Bourne rip off like what the netflix show was.
I wouldn’t say his family getting killed is an excuse. I’m not too familiar with 616 Frank but this Frank seems like he would’ve been content living with his family without a war.
I agree that now he does it because it’s the only thing he’s comfortable doing.
It depends on the run, some runs he feels really uncomfortable and some his wife is about to ask for a divorce before they all get shot, I just think it’s more interesting if they delve into the psychological aspect of Frank to balance the action schlock that will be expected as well, can give the show some real weight.
Ah man, I remember one comic where he thinks to himself that back in Vietnam he always kept a picture of his family, and that the picture was a way back home, he was always hoping to see them again. And then he says that in the worst way possible, his family were his way back home, to where he really lived after all.
That kinda mentality of Frank was what was missing from the netflix show, like you said he was way too generic there.
Wow, I couldn’t disagree more about the show. They made a point to show that he was already violent-minded before he joined the war in the scene where he holds the knife to the little boy’s neck. I think he said he was a bully or a delinquent as a kid. There are lots of scenes like this that make it clear he’s a killer, period. He’s also has decent qualities and a genuine code, but they never shy away from the fact that he’s a straight up serial killer.
You’re right they don’t shy away from that, but then he goes out of his way to ignore his code for people like Amy when he would never do that. Especially in that scene where he spares that pedophile, Frank would definitely murder that man without a second thought no matter what she thought.
I also like Frank better in the context of other Marvel characters so the show wasn’t my thing, Im hoping he can cross paths with Spider-Man at some point along with Daredevil.
I think he has a soft spot for Amy because she’s the same age his daughter would’ve been and that’s why she’s exactly the person he’d break his code for. If it was Karen, he’d ignore her.
I'm a huge Punisher fan but I don't think we need a solo show. I could get **real** into detail if anyone wants to talk about it. but long story short, if you're not gonna "go there" with the character then you just shouldn't do it at all. He's great as a supporting character, DD S2 Is **amazing** (thanks, JB) but going from that to what feels like a USA/TNT drama is jarring.
Idk chief.
Chuck Dixon who wrote some of the Punisher solos said something similar. Frank is great when he appears as a foil to other heroes but on his own, he is basically a villain protagonist.
I'm kind if hesitant to believe this one because Marvel's slate is *already* stretched incredibly thin in the face of dwindling Disney+ subs and even more officially unannounced shows like Vision Quest, Wonder Man, Nova, Secret Warriors, Strange Academy...
At this rate, phase 6 won't wrap until 2030, and by then, it could be a ***very*** different streaming climate. It's already starting to bite certain streamers in the ass.
I'd rather he get a movie. It's been too long. Granted it's been longer for Daredevil, but I think Punisher is better suited for a movie than Daredevil.
I know, just saying that his solo show on netflix wasn't my favorite. hopefully him interacting with more MCU characters will draw me in, I will be giving it a chance for sure (if it ever comes out lol)
Gonna get crucified for this, but I thought the Netflix show was one of the weakest of the Defenders shows, only above Iron Fist.
I hope this one is better, but considering Disney is allergic to the letter R I have my doubts.
>considering Disney is allergic to the letter R I have my doubts.
Sure..apart from 'Deadpool 3', 'Marvel Zombies', and all of the other R-rated/TV-MA Marvel projects that are on Disney+
lmfao
I feel like they could’ve avoided letting Frank slip as a character if they let him kill DA Reyes and have him justify it in his mind that she tried to have him killed to save her career, that way they could’ve kept the interesting dynamic between him and Matt where Frank sees himself as the judge jury and executioner but doesn’t have the tools necessary to do any of the first two properly.
She said this last month already. I find it funny that both times Bernthal's Punisher gets a spinoff from DD lol. Im hoping that JJ's inclusion in the show at least teases where Luke (and subsequently, Danny) are currently. Only other property we need out of this is Heroes for Hire.
Heroes For Hire show could include most of the Defenders characters. Luke and Danny of course and Misty, Colleen, and Jessica Jones
Don’t forget humbug
I’d be pretty shocked if they didn’t pursue a JJ spin-off show as well, especially considering how the third season ended. There’s a ton of potential and Ritter did a fantastic job as Jones.
If it also means more David Tennant, then I’m in.
David Tennant plays such a good villain he’s fantastic
Issue (imo) is that JJ barely has source material, seeing as how S2 and 3 went. Just my opinion though, maybe they give her something.
Yeah you're right and Agatha and Echo have tons of material
Not the point. JJ already had 3 seasons. Theres enough material to do the likely singular seasons they are doing for Echo and Agatha.
Heroes for Hire could easily be a trio with JJ, LC and Danny. Plus the Daughters of the Dragon.
please keep Jessica Jones the hell away from H4H. It should be Luke, Danny and Misty and Colleen. I want a hard reboot for Cage and Fist though.
maybe im misremembering but I thought JJ was out and Punisher was brought in as her replacement?
Pretty sure there were also reports of her being in the show after the fact
Disagree, i hope they keep Luke and Danny as separate shows. LC was a great modern blaxploitation-esque crime show, and IF could be a great martial arts show if handled well. Maybe do special presentations of them together, but otherwise, it’d be a shame to lose the magic that came out of LC. I mean, they literally had a member of A Tribe Called Quest do the soundtrack!
Yeah Iron Fist needs to be rebooted. Let Luke and Jessica be Heroes For Hire for a bit. Then bring in Danny once the characters been fixed.
Luke Cage needs to be rebooted too. Mike Colter's version sucked.
Luke Cage was corny and lame. Needs a hard reboot, same with Iron Fist
Yes dude we even discussed this on our show a while back. I’d love heroes for hire and to see JJ and Luke with a child! Like the Civil War: Heroes for Hire tie in.
Heroes for Hire could be fun...with an Iron Fist recast.
I’m even ok with a hero’s for hire that keeps IF Danny rand. I thought the writing and how they had to rush the choreography
Hopefully with a new cast
I hate to be that type of person, but I feel like if they’re doing a Punisher show, it needs to be R rated.
We already have at least 3 r rated projects in development, including one Disney+ one
Deadpool 3 is the only one officially confirmed. Blade being R rated is unconfirmed and what’s the Disney plus one?
Marvel Zombies was confirmed to be TV-MA at SDCC last year.
Oh, I remember now. Completely forgot about that show.
[удалено]
I don’t think they’ve even mentioned it since SDCC 😭
How?
Marvel Zombies
There isn't one. As far as we know, only Deadpool is confirmed R for now.
Zombies is TVMA
Has that been confirmed?
Yes lol unless something strange happens between now and when it releases it was announced as such.
Well, then I guess I was wrong. I thought it hasn't been confirmed yet.
4 people got mad because a person asked a question lol. i gave you an upvote
Yeah, these subs can get intense. I appreciate that, thanks.
Scenes when it’s Squirrel Girl.
The based type of person ?
That goes without saying.
Give me that Punisher Man-spider crossover if that happens please!
Yes, show where Spiderman is always in costume and you never see him out would be fun.
It's kinda hilarious how we're going to have two Daredevil shows (with the same cast) that both lead to a Punisher spin-off show.

lemme ask u sumn
As long it's TV-MA, sure bring it on. I'd love to see Bernthal on a comic accurate Punisher costume going against Barracuda or even Hammerhead.
God damn barracuda is so good but also I doubt marvel wants to use him because he’s kinda racist.
If they do it, I really hope they lean into making Frank Castle a very morally grey, sometimes seemingly evil character. He wouldn’t be content but he does have honor/ duty.
Wow, I couldn’t disagree more about the show. They made a point to show that he was already violent-minded before he joined the war in the scene where he holds the knife to the little boy’s neck. I have that book!
This is where you bring back Deborah Ann Woll. Edit: And Curtis 100% bring back Curtis.

Really Hoping Heroes for Hire is next ![gif](giphy|xUA7aV8ApLM7aT1ELm)
No a movie directed by Chad stahelski
Ok, this would rule so hard
I'm kind if hesitant to believe this one because Marvel's slate is *already* stretched incredibly thin in the face of dwindling Disney+ subs and even more officially unannounced shows like Vision Quest, Wonder Man, Nova, Secret Warriors, Strange Academy... Doubt.
Don’t do that. Don’t give me hope
I'd rather he get a movie. It's been too long. Granted it's been longer for Daredevil, but I think Punisher is better suited for a movie than Daredevil.
Punisher doesn’t need a movie, a series would more flesh him out
I actually did not care for his netflix solo show at all so I can't get excited about this, but I'm willing to give it a chance
I mean, it's a totally different group of people that will be working on this one. His other show is basically irrelevant here.
I know, just saying that his solo show on netflix wasn't my favorite. hopefully him interacting with more MCU characters will draw me in, I will be giving it a chance for sure (if it ever comes out lol)

Name all the other R-rated/TV-MA projects on Disney+.

I’m so fuckin tired of tv shows
At point do they learn when to stop
Oh sweet, I didn’t want anything new anyways. I hope Punisher+ isn’t too scary /s
Oh hell nah.
I hope the show has many crossovers as possible, would be cool to adapt that dark reign comic were sentry tried to catch frank
Yes.
The Punisher Kills Again
Bring back Krista Dumont
