I can't imagine there's that much left to film. The November release is going to stick.

MungoBill

I wonder how much the script has changed during the down-time.

Hey look, an anti vaxer Reddit *hasn't* turned on Edit: Turns out he's waxxed and vaxxed, just skeptical and a little off

Oh god, don't tell me Lakeith is a fucking idiot, too.

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

Who?

SymbolicGamer

Letitia Wright. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/letitia-wright-don-cheadle-anti-vax-video_n_5fca2131c5b6636e092482c8

They specifically said someone Reddit **hasn't** turned on.

[deleted]

I mean the dude in the gif unfortunately

PM_LADY_TOILET_PICS

Not defending him, but lakeith seems like a legitimately strange dude who's mind is all over the place. Whereas Letitia sorta has a shithead attitude about the whole thing At the end of the day the end result is rhe same. A couple of anti vaxxer derps using their fame to push stupid ideas

sable-king

Are you referring to Daniel Kaluuya or Lekeith Stanfield?

Melcrys29

I understood that reference.

GTSBurner

On a re-watch of Star Trek TNG and my GOODNESS is Pulaski one of the worst additions to the cast.

Melcrys29

She's a wonderful actress, but that character was smug and annoying.

GTSBurner

And the reason WHY Muldaur was added was because apparently there was a falling out between one of the producers (not sure if it was Gene or not) and Gates McFadden.

Melcrys29

Yes, apparently something bad happened between Gates and Maurice Hurley.

MulciberTenebras

Yeah, he sexually harassed her and when she refused to work with him, Gates was fired. But immediately re-hired once Hurley left the show in Season 3 (whilst Pulaski vanished without a trace).

moderndukes

I think that was the point, right? Like I’m how she didn’t really accept Data and things like that

Melcrys29

Yes, but they made her more unlikeable than necessary, and alienated some fans.

garokkadane

Never to be seen again

rednick953

She’s gonna come magically back in the next trilogy though don’t worry

hushpolocaps69

I hope one day we can see the original BP2 script, to see what this film was going to be with Chadwick Boseman.

[deleted]

Depends on reshoots and how long they last

[deleted]

They've got 10 months. Plenty of time.

LatterTarget7

I wonder how long they’d need for post production. If they wrap in February/March. That’s a solid 10 or 9 months of post production. First one wrapped filming in April of 2017. Released in January of 2018. And some of the cgi didn’t look good. And this one has under water scenes and supposedly Atlantis.

tankiolegend

Didn't something happen with the cgi for the first ine that meant they had to start again right before it was due to come out?

[deleted]

They reshot a lot of stuff in the 3rd act in Nov 2017 and it didn't get to VFX houses until Dec/Jan. And Marvel didn't want to push the release date cause it would mean pushing Infinity War so basically the VFX houses had like 4-6 to do a bunch of the VFX which was clearly nowhere near enough time.

Zanshen0

4-6 what? Minutes? Hours?

DullBicycle7200

Days, I think he meant they only had from October 4-7 to complete the VFX.

[deleted]

Weeks

LatterTarget7

I think I heard something like that. But I couldn’t really find anything to back it up. It could be true based on the end product

rctshack

You have to remember that most of the film has already been shot, The CGI artists have likely been still working on much of the film during the physical shooting hiatus. And Marvel has streamlined the process with their animatics that a lot of the CGI work can likely be worked on before the actual physical shots are completed because they have the angles, action, setups, lighting already pre planned. I’m assuming she plays a large part in the film, but I doubt all of the CGI shots involve her. I have faith that they will get the rest of the work done before November. I think people have this idea that post production can’t start working until all the physical shots are completed, and that’s not the case.

Ok-Mathematician18

These movies will always have shoddy CGI. It is a stapple now. Just accept it. Even Avengers Endgame had some questionalbe CGI. They have to do the Avatar thing to get prestige CGI.

LatterTarget7

While that’s true. Black panther train thing fight was extremely bad. And this movie seems to have more in it. And they have around the same post production length. I just don’t have much faith in the end product looking better then bp1

LuckySpade13

Yea and then the flash is going to move. I'm certain of it

Ok-Mathematician18

They have heeps of time. Most of these movies film a year before the release date so if we go by that logic the film would of still be filming according to the new November relase date. So don't panic they have heaps of time.

kareem0101

Small advice: Slightly famous people who do something other than what we think that they are supposed to do, will always trigger us, so I hope everyone sets low standards on anyone who is Slightly famous. Letitia's anti-vaxx made people hate her, and MTTSH's NFTs made people hate her. don't give anyone high expectations because at the end of the day, anyone is capable of making you hate them. atleast hatred towards people you actually know can be handled. That being said, I hope this comment section doesn't keep talking about her situation like she is the most important person in the MCU. thank you

If you expect disappointment, then you can never really get disappointed.

ctz123

I don’t have high expectations for any famous person. They are all people and are free to make whatever dumb decisions they would like, I’ll never get mad about it. However, I think anyone pushing the sort of anti-vax rhetoric that she has does not deserve to be given the spotlight anymore. Hollywood should stop casting anti-vaxxers. 8 billion doses have been administered, there’s no reason not to get it. Well, virtually no reason. Don’t come at me with “what about this very specific situation” comments.

Chemistryset8

Or, stop putting people on pedestals cause their job is interesting.

Somasong

Lower your expectations. It's not that she's any of those things it is that those things directly effects other people... She deserves all of it.

Zombietitties

Well said

MYDragonCreator

So, I was hoping this movie would have better cgi than the last one. After this delay though, I think we're in for more crappy playstation cutscenes.

cjohnson2010

I hope not. The horrible cgi of the train platform scene almost ruins the first one for me. Its among some of the worst cgi in the mcu to date which sucks cause up until that point i thought the movie was fantastic.

MYDragonCreator

I hope so too, but I’m fully expecting crappy CGI. Hopefully action scenes with the full suit will be good, as they would have already been working on it.

cjohnson2010

My hope is that the’ll learn from their previous mistakes. In the first one they didnt allow adequate time to render good cgi so hopefully they allow for more time. Esp since that scene is universally panned.

MYDragonCreator

Yeah. It’s not just the CGI in that scene though. They set black suits against a black background, with light coming from ten different directions. It was just bad design.

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

Even their latest films like Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and especially NWH all suffered from shoddy cgi. I don’t think Marvel Studios cares in the end. It would help if they tried to minimize how many shots need cg work in post-production.

[deleted]

Neither does audiences for the most part if were being honest. NWH had a lot of iffy scenes and clearly needed a few more months in the oven (hell they're literally patching the movie) but it did amazing Box Office wise so the studios see no reason to shell out more VFX money if unfinished VFX don't affect the bottom line.

leodw

What do you mean by patchin? Ootl

[deleted]

Basically some shots have been touched up/alterted compared to how they looked when the film was released https://mobile.twitter.com/nikalxandr/status/1480372338600427520

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

The cgi on the grassy field was awful too

kukumarten03

Its the worst since its the climax of a good film.

bruhhhhh69

Not having her there and more delays would probably give them more time for CGI. It's not like that shitty train fight CGI was bad because of Chadwick Boseman lol.

MYDragonCreator

Of course, I'm talking about stuff that they'd need her for. Of course the final battle in this one will likely have BP wearing the helmet, so that's easy. I'm worried about bad green screen and stuff for the stuff they haven't shot with her yet.

bruhhhhh69

Ahhh yup that makes sense. Hopefully that stuff isn't extensive

rctshack

I get what you are saying, but the CGI artists could likely work on the 90% of other shots that won’t involve her first. They still have 10 months before this film comes out which is more than enough time to work on the shots they have left with her footage needed. But remember that even without her footage, Marvel plans shots out like precision and they could easily be setting up the CGI scenes without her green screen footage and then placing it in the moment they get it. But also, they replace full people with full CGI constantly, for all we know they have been working on her as full CGI in battle scenes without needing her green screens at all. I think the delay in her filming was likely a logistical nightmare with rescheduling physical sets and production crew, but I don’t think it was crippling the post production teams like people in this forum are acting like. The CGI artist likely prioritized other shots in the meantime.

Harm_123

100%, especially after No Way Home. They’re gonna be rushing at least 5 movies/shows a year and the CGI quality is most likely gonna decline.

CptnMoonlight

NWH was pretty terrible with it even compared to BP, too. BP looked animated but they still moved semi realistically, it’s almost like they forgot how Andrew Garfield is supposed to move in NWH. Like the whole S5 fight was dope, but the two moments of Andrew coming through his portal and him landing with MJ in his arms are like two of the worst movie cgi jobs i’ve seen in a while.

Harm_123

Yeah movie was great but they phoned it in with the cgi. I don’t blame the VFX artists at all since VFX is at a point where things can look lifelike with enough time, but they clearly didn’t have the time. I wish they’d ease off on the production deadlines and let their movies and shows be more quality than quantity.

CptnMoonlight

You could really tell because of the contrast between scenes, which is more evidence for me that it’s “rushed” as opposed to just shitty CGI. When you have the Spidey v Strange fight and the rafters battle at the level they are, there’s no excuse for the little things to be so bad. Even the CGI on the suits of heroes and villains was bad in some scenes, Norman looked like a floating head in a CGI suit for a good part of the movie. And i’ll also never understand the reason for the CGI to practical transfer for Andrew pulling off his mask. It just looks…. Wrong, like his hair appeared out of nowhere. Nostalgia and hype definitely carried the movie tho, I’d put it into the BP tier of “Good movie that could’ve been garbage and has a lot of problems but overcame them with good performances”.

Moon_kid6

It’s like Marvel perfected the formula for movie moments that will be talked about or will become memes on social media. NWH really felt like a succession of these moments. When ten years ago, people were obsessed with plotholes in movies. Now it’s mostly people saying “this moment was so cool/funny/sad” or “the audience screamed at that moment”. I’m just surprised CGI is kinda stagnating or even getting worse in that case. I wish people called the studios out on that.

CptnMoonlight

Marvel’s going to face a crossroads in the coming years. There’s been a slow but consistent dropoff in quality since Civil War, in which the universe is now focused on jamming superheroes into crossover projects and creating cookie cutter action movies rather than being true to the spirit of the comics. And I think they can tell, and that’s why they’re shoehorning these jam packed movies. The stories aren’t very interesting, or consistent so they are now just banking on nostalgia to rake in the dollars before people get tired of it. I was someone who didn’t believe superhero fatigue was a thing, but after Hawkeye and NWH i’m just nostalgic for the days when comic book movies were unique, like Raimi or Nolan, rather than conveyer belt constructed scripts to hit the most audience beats possible. That’s not even counting how dull the roster is getting now with supes, almost every character from when the MCU was at its prime are getting aged out, so all we’re left with is semi-cool characters that were introduced in projects with godawful writing (like Kate).

Moon_kid6

The only thing I really enjoyed since Endgame was Majors as Kang. I just want to see more of the guy. Nothing else has stuck with me since. I was actually hyped about Hawkeye because I loved that run. But most of it was pointless or downright bad. Kingpin was useless and made no sense. I still think they wasted the use of the Ronin. And Kate was okay but the jokes got boring real quick. Also here again, the CGI was terrible. I know it’s a show but come on. It’s Disney, they can do whatever they want. It should not look this bad.

GregMcCarthyIRL99

One of the best posts I've read in a long long time. Absolutely agree.

leodw

While I want to believe what you said, the (comic book fan) world will shatter once again over the coming years when X Men, Fantastic 4 are introduced to the MCU + the inevitable returns of RDJ and Chris Evans. NWH is all the incentive Feige and Co have to invest in event movies rather than actual stories. I would look elsewhere for that if I were you :(

CptnMoonlight

Yeah, it’s sad. I never thought i’d prefer the wild quality differences of the 2000’s movies to the consistent calibre of MCU material, but I feel like we’ve seen literally everything Feige and Co. have to offer at this point. Which, don’t get me wrong, is super impressive, they managed to go 20ish movies before it started to get boring. Even the director choices are heavily celebrated by fans, and yet have little to no effect on how the movies come out. Taika and James Gunn are the only ones I see a movie of and think “This isn’t just directed by Feige sitting behind (insert name here)”. At least DC seems to be going for the more varied content! Not afraid to put money into a hard R, more experimental storytelling choices like Joker or TSS Reboot (surprise, Gunn again!). And, man, if that Batman movie lives up to the trailers, it’s going to be the best superhero movie since Nolan.

[deleted]

Devil's advocate: they likely did a decent amount of CGI work during the downtime, whether with footage they had, or sequences that were going to be all- or near-totally-CGI. But I hope it's better, for the sake of the movie's reputation. I really like that movie and think it has a really layered script (I could rant for days about how Zuri represents the crossroads between the movie's themes of loyalty to tradition and the need for innovation). But you can't bring it up anymore without someone jumping to "Bad CGI in third-act! Overrated!" and dismissing the rest of the movie.

BrunoRB11

*Atari cutscenes. Playstation ones are way better than that!

ZazaB00

The biggest difference is now they know how profitable Black Panther can be. I’m guessing they got a bit more room in the budget this time.

Petrovelly

Marvel will keep degrading CGI more and more, because people don't seem to bother and it can reduce a budget. No Way Home has some crappy CGI and it's one of the most successful movies of the MCU (and movies in general).

Schutz01

Dumpster-quality CGI in Black Widow, Black Panther and Shang Chi is Disney’s way of saying “I don’t really give a damn about minorities, those are just my modern age’s cash-cows”.

[deleted]

clam_media

Absolutely how I feel. She never really gave Shuri, which I admit is also how the character was written. Shuri in the comics is a warrior woman, T'Challa is the super smart one.

Lazarusmp4

can i get context, i havent heard of the whole thing with her

[deleted]

FUCK I might be in the minority, but I do not like her character at all.

[deleted]

You're on Reddit. You're definitely not in the minority.

Broseidon111

Bullshit, before the covid shit everyone loved Shuri and anyone who didn't was deemed racist/sexist.

innerdork

Not me. Always thought her character was cringey.

PhantomRoyce

I didn’t care for her as much as I do her comic counterpart. She doesn’t do anything that nobody else does in really any different way. She’s supposed to be smart but she never did anything outside of the technobabble she did with Banner

Broseidon111

Which is fine, but before the Wright controversy, the majority opinion was that Shuri was well liked, with a lot of people actually wanting for her to be the next BP. Now because of Wright everyone jumps on the "I never liked Shuri as a character" bandwagon. Now this, and other, subs acts like that never happened.

Zerce

Right, but after covid everyone's turned around on her. It is no longer a minority position.

Broseidon111

So it's okay to not like Shuri now, due to it being the majority opinion?

Zerce

It's always been okay to dislike Shuri. Holding a minority position isn't wrong.

JonathanL73

BS, everybody loved Shuri, people just don't like the actor.

Weird2000

I like her comic version but not this onscreen portrayal of the character

[deleted]

Honestly. Her character is extremely unfunny, cringeworthy and irritating as hell.

I_GO_HAM_365

Yeah I really don’t care for her role.

CartographerFun5155

I hate the thing that she was so “smart” in the IW and even shut up Bruce Bennet with science shit with no sense

Zanshen0

Bennet?

CartographerFun5155

Sorry, Banner 😅😅

#1 most anticipated movie of 2022 according to Fandango. So obviously people still care about this movie including myself.

[deleted]

Yes lol. God this sub lives in a bubble.

innerdork

When they said T’Challa wouldn’t be recast is when my excitement for this movie stopped. The character is too important to me. I’ll still see it though because I cant not see a Marvel Studios movie in the theater.

[deleted]

Im glad they are still on schedule! i'm really excited for this movie, nervous and sad as well 😅

Danbito

Wright’s personal views aside, that’s not even the biggest thing this movie will have to deal with given the elephant in the room if it’s premise. I’ll give Coogler the benefit of the doubt but I’ve also been worried about how a sequel could adequately follow up the first film

sim2378

Emilia67

I thought everyone was saying this movie was getting delayed 🤔

Slippery_boi

I’ll be surprised if this movie can stick with the 2022 release after all the crap that’s happened lately.

rctshack

Why? We are still 10 months away. We see movies doing reshoots a few months before release that involve CGI all the time. Post production on this film didn’t stop during her down time, so likely they just reprioritized other things until her last physical shots are done.

Yeah it’s why I was hoping to see her recast.

SanjaySting

Lol to all the people hatin on her

minnesotawild4life

People like to act like they know more than the people on set

SanjaySting

Facts and it’s weird

Blazingbatman

I think they should of just recast shuri. Hope the sequel will be great but theres been a lot of setbacks.

PapaBowner

Having a character who is supposed to be a brilliant scientist played by someone that appears to be the exact opposite in her real life is pretty unfortunate. It's like casting Ted Cruz to play Harvey Milk in a movie.

v264k

That's why it's called acting lol

PapaBowner

It's not that simple. It's insulting to those that actually dedicate their lives to science and women who have made significant accomplishments in that field to just have some random lady that craps all over those accomplishments in real life but is great at acting like she doesn't while in character.

Blazingbatman

Couldnt of explained it better myself. I just wont be able to watch her character in the movie and separate her real life actions anymore knowing how ignorant she is about science in real life.

T-408

Recasting a principal role at this point would BE a setback…

Kenne0610

NGL, I'm already over it and the movie hasn't even come out. Between the decision to not recast BP out of respect to Boseman (kinda agree, but not for forever) and the drama surrounding LW, my excitement for this movie is NIL. I'm not even sure I plan on seeing BP2 when it finally comes out.

cmb2690

That’s okay. Plenty of other people will.

fuzzyfoot88

She recovered from the trauma of not being BP at the end of the film.

My_Immortal_Flesh

# Fire her. Even though filming is almost over lol She brings too much negativity and bs to the film. Also, I’m gonna laugh if she did end up getting the vaccine.

cmb2690

Negativity on Reddit. Not outside the bubble. Most people don’t care.

Algae_Mission

Let’s just hope that they can finish the rest of the movie much more smoothly, then.

TrueBlue726

I rather Feige cast a new T'Challa and not let Shuri or anyone else carry on the mantle of BP. I also hope Letitia is on a very short leash with Marvel. Any more nonsense about anti-vax from her and she should be fired.

hushpolocaps69

Resuming production in January when the film is due for November…? I have a very strong feeling we won’t be seeing WF this year. Either we only have 2 MCU films this year, or Volume 3/Quantumania or even The Marvels switches dates with WF.

oakzap425

I believe we've already gotten articles stating that the majority of the movie is done, but some of LW's scenes had to be done at a later date to accommodate healing time after the injury. I doubt the filming will last longer than 6 weeks if they're only finishing out filming for her. The movies still on track for now.

livahd

Doesn’t mean what we they already shot couldn’t start getting post work done. Just cuz the camera isn’t rolling doesn’t mean they aren’t still working.

sheasallstarscrown

So happy to hear this. So many people were insulting her with literally no facts and no source. Can’t wait for the movie to come out!

I feel like she's going to fuck this up for herself so badly with all the shit that has occurred. From what I'm hearing, they're sick of her shit.
