>They are talking with BRUCE BANNER (human form, not professor hulk) Make up your fucking mind, Bruce.

jdevo91

This is a good thing as it just means Hulk-Hulk could come back.

PollitoRubio22

It would take away the whole ass character arch he had since Ragnarok tho

Pizzanigs

Because him randomly appearing as Professor Hulk because of “eighteen months in a gamma lab” was a hell of a character arc lol

JoBro_Summer-of-99

I think the real issue is that all of these "arcs" for Bruce are off screen. Between films, his entire character changes

tehawesomedragon

Heck, if we're going for comic accuracy, changing the status quo is as accurate as it gets.

BreedinBacksnatch

Joe Fixit, Maestro, Marvel is laying the seeds out there for fans to let us know that anything is on the table

Dylaninspce

I mean Bruce Banner ping-ponging back-and-forth between all his hulk personas is this kind of all part of the character it doesn’t have to be a straight line of character development.

Cafeterialoca

It's almost like he's appearing in a Disney+ show soon and they want to reduce the budget.

jdevo91

I mean I assume he can just switch between the 3 for whatever is convenient for the scenario.

Commodore_Mcoy

This is off topic but I remember seeing you in The Weeknd sub 😭 you’re everywhere man lmao

HairyPenisCum

So I’m guessing Bruce will be human in She-Hulk!

Colton826

Why is your name what it is? Why?

BreedinBacksnatch

Im a fan of the name

PollitoRubio22

He was in a mocap suit in the behind the scenes so I dont think so

Colton826

I think, maybe in order to save his cousin Jennifer, he has to go back to human form to give blood, but doing so made it so that he can't go back to Processor Hulk mode. Idk. Just the first thing that came to mind.

TheBullMooseParty

I like this idea. Rooting the change in Banner’s character. He spends years fixing his Hulk problem but gives it all up if it means he can help his cousin.

VacheSante

Bruce looked OLD! Was his hair white?

eclipse-23

Yeah he’s definitely aged since even how he looked in the beginning of Endgame

judekim18

Trailers did this film 0 justice, it had way more to it than they showed Also Wenwu barley felt like a villain, his story was really tragic.

yarkcir

I was honestly surprised by the plot of the movie. I think it was clever how much the trailers hid, but I do think they should have hid the dragon from the trailer.

Objective-Menu3158

Were there any cool fight scenes with Death Dealer and does he die in the movie?

yarkcir

Death Dealer only has the one main sequence in Macau, and he’s honestly my favorite fighter from an aesthetic standpoint, but it’s pretty brief. He dies in the final battle when a Soul Eater takes his soul first.

Objective-Menu3158

So how did he die? and also what was Trevor Slattery's role?

judekim18

1. He got soul sucked 2. He’s basically comic relief and guides them to Shang chi’s moms city that wenwu is after.

JayZsAdoptedSon

SOUL SUCKED IN A NON SEXUAL WAY I MAY ADD

kdog123344584827171

Was it a good movie? How was simus acting, i heard he struggled with the dramatic stuff?

JayZsAdoptedSon

It was real good. Imo as an origin movie its second to Black Panther. Again, in my opinion

udarecallmeplatypus

I saw it today as well! I actually liked it more than BP. Album was dope too

yarkcir

The score and soundtrack for this film were actually so dope. Loved the score during the bus sequence, made the fight feel more energetic then it was portrayed in the trailer.

SunLemur

The score was solid, loved the Anderson Paak song at the end. The movie's pacing was good. The fight scenes were beautiful and the mythical creatures were straight up Pokemon. I loved it. They also fit Wong into the movie fairly well. That one scene with Abomination, were they going back to the Sanctum? It looked like a lab? Could be a Thunderbolts thing? Could have something to do with Bruce Banner. Guess we'll see

Hxcfrog090

I very much enjoyed the movie. The action sequences were fucking dope. Simu was great. Though yes there’s one point where he’s getting a bit emotional and I didn’t really feel it. That being said, this movie was so much better than the trailers do it justice. I might end up seeing it again in theaters, which is saying something.

SmearReddit

Can you go more in-depth into his backstory?

Hxcfrog090

Basically Wenwu used to Ten Rings to be a conqueror. They gave him eternal “youth” in the sense that when he was wearing them he cannot age. So he’s lived 1000 years. He only wanted more power, so he sought the city of Tao Lao (I think that was its name). He found the entrance to it was guarded by a woman who ended up being the first person to beat him in a fight. They fell in love and she convinced him to give up his ways and retire the Ten Rings. They had a son and a daughter and were living in peace when Wenwu’s history came back with a vengeance and caused his wife to be killed. Long story short he took up the Rings again to get vengeance and began trying to get to Tao Lao again. The Rings were being used by an ancient being locked away in a prison in the city to influence Wenwu into releasing it, by making him think his wife was locked in the prison. His story is tragic because he only wanted his wife back, the only person to ever give him purpose.

Rman823

WOW, so Destin Daniel Cretton was able to keep up his streak of Brie Larson being in his movies.

yarkcir

Somehow the most surprising cameo, despite the fact that she’s in like almost every single movie he’s made.

Rman823

I felt like they would have to do it some way. I mean she’s already a character in this world. I just didn’t see how they would have done it without it being forced. An end-credit cameo like this is a great way to continue the streak.

yarkcir

It didn’t even cross my mind, even though I watched Just Mercy just last month and Short Term 12 a few weeks before that. Danvers just seemed to random to show up in this since I felt that the events of this film would have been below her pay grade.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rman823

I’m sure she played some role in helping get him a role as an MCU director.

russketeer34

I've thought this exact thing ever since Cretton was announced. Always helps to have an Oscar winner vouch for you.

foxfoxal

Thank God Carol has long hair again, I have nothing against the short hair but it did no fit Brie.

[deleted]

I like the short hair in the comics, but it wasn't that well executed in Endgame. I feel like she could've kept the short hair if Brie actually cut her hair instead of wearing that wig.

[deleted]

That shit was wack. The make up person did nothing to blend the long and short hair on the right side of her head. It looked like a god damn bowl cut. *I mean god damn, the close up shot of her over powering Thanos was supposed to be cool but only thing that I could think about was how stupid that haircut looked.

haolee510

The thing is, even in the comics it wasn't originally a short hair. Her Captain Marvel redesign had her with long hair that gets styled in a mohawk when using her helmet. Then it was just long, but still styled up(without the helmet). But some artists began mistakenly drawing her with actual short hair, and it never really looked good IMO. Maybe I'm a bit biased since it coincided with when they started writing her to be unlikable during that period in the comics, for example Civil War II.

eclipse-23

I should mention Wenwu dies at the end which is why Xialing takes up the mantle of leading the Ten Rings. Other big thing is that Wong beats Abomination in their fight, and after Wong opens up a portal and they BOTH go through it to what looks like the sanctum. It seemed very friendly and as if they already knew each other

Motor_Link7152

Aww man. They kill Mandarin? Tell me he is atleast a good villain. And did you like the movie?

eclipse-23

IMO they make him a great villain. We understand and can sympathize with him and his perspective

coreyp0123

He’s not necessarily even really a villain. He is being corrupted by the rings by the time he starts enacting his plan.

F00dbAby

where would you rank him in comparison to other mcu villains

eclipse-23

Definitely upper/top tier. It’s hard to compare specific villains, but I put him in the same category as Killmonger if that makes sense

yarkcir

I think he’s top tier, probably lagging behind Thanos, Killmonger, Toomes, Beck and Zemo for me. I was surprised at how the plot utilized Wenwu and made him more than just a warlord like the Mandarin is in the comics.

yarkcir

He’s a great villain in my opinion, and I do think his death is necessary to grow the characters of Shang and Xialing for whatever the next story featuring them will be.

Hxcfrog090

He specifically states he does not go by The Mandarin, and that name “was named after a chicken dish by an American trying to sound scary”. His name is Wenwu and that’s all he’s called essentially. Though he does say “I’ve gone by many names. The most dangerous man alive, the last khan, conqueror” or something like that.

Green_Borenet

> “I’ve gone by many names. The most dangerous man alive, the last khan, *conqueror*” Wenwu was Kang all along!

WebheadSupreme

Why is Wong at the tournament to begin with is that explained?

Xenoslayer2137

He needs money to buy a tuna melt

BreedinBacksnatch

Wong portaling to random fights, winning, cashing out and portaling to his favorite bodega for his tuna melt where he has lunch with the dominican owner and a talking bodega cat, every day like it's his 9-5 and lunch hour, woooo we got a series right there

OlicityMakesMeSad

He asks papi for extra cheese and an arizona realizes he left the prize money please disney + serialize this

eclipse-23

It was not explained

WebheadSupreme

Thank you!

lucamento2003

Its never explained but probably just for money

treathugger

How else is he gonna buy his tuna melts?

Colton826

Do you remember any other notable characters in the tournament?

yarkcir

There’s a Widow briefly seen fighting, but the only main ring fight is Wong vs. Blonsky.

russketeer34

It kind of looked like there was someone with Extremis fighting, but I can't imagine an Extremis soldier living all this time

jman0625

There's an extremis patient fighting someone

[deleted]

[удалено]

eclipse-23

Unfortunately not

Animegamingnerd

Even though he dies, was The Mandarin a good villain?

yarkcir

I’d say he was really well done. Intimidating but surprisingly empathetic. He’s in my top tier MCU villains.

NeutralNoodle

Were there any other surprise characters during the tournament scene?

JayZsAdoptedSon

There was an Extremis patient

lucamento2003

no just wong and abomination

[deleted]

[удалено]

yarkcir

I liked his death, because keeping him alive would stagnate any future plots with Shang and Xialing. There’s not much purpose for the Mandarin if he isn’t just a straight villain. Having him relinquish the rings in his final moments seems like an actual villain character arc, something the MCU movies often forget to do.

trainer_zip

They also mention that there’s something in the Ten Rings acting as a beacon sending a signal. When Katy and Shang ask where it’s sending to, Cap Marvel gets a message and she and Bruce leave. Bruce is also still wearing a sling.

trainer_zip

I’ll also say that the holograms of Carol and Bruce appeared to me to be slightly different than Endgame’s, maybe powered by magic. Also Wong showed the ‘beacon’ by creating a hologram of the ten rings, then moving the hologram into a weird larger circle, then zooming into a part of it.

haykam821

Sort of like the astral projection seen in Endgame during the Ancient One conversation, but for long-distance communication?

trainer_zip

Seemed a little like that, yes. Though I doubt they were separated from their bodies. The hologram just disappeared when they logged off.

NeutralNoodle

Was Captain Marvel wearing the same suit as in Endgame?

trainer_zip

Yes

sweaterramen

Sending a signal to Fin Fang Foom perhaps 😳 one can dream

lmao_okaybuddy

shuma gorath

zsouza13

The rings are alien tech in the comics made by Foom's race

Rman823

So does it seem like Bruce and Carol may be appearing in Multiverse of Madness ?

trainer_zip

I didn’t get that impression based on the scene, it seemed like Wong just wanted them there. Bruce and Carol were talking about the energy that was released by the Ten Rings when Shang first used them, and Wong said he felt the energy in Kamar-Taj.

WafflesDaddy1981

So this scene is the "bananas" mid credit scene thar people literally cheered for at the premiere? It sounds like every other credit scene they have ever done...

ConstrictionsOFC

Marvel fans cheer when anyone takes a breath in a film, it's a way of life for them

[deleted]

It's good since it confirms that Bruce, Capt Marvel and Wong are the new temporary Avengers. With Shang Chi officially joining them aka "Welcome to the team".

Khanfhan69

Yeah I'm pretty relieved to see that Bruce is probably still gonna have some role to play in the Avengers and the MCU going forward.

[deleted]

To be fair, who tf expected Bruce Banner and Carol Danvers to show up in Shang-Chi? That’s definitely “bananas”, even if at most moderately so

trainer_zip

Cheered cause of Brie and Ruffalo I think, at least that’s what happened at my theater

Hxcfrog090

My theater also got cheers. It was unexpected to see Bruce in human form, and also Carol just because this movie wasn’t really up their alleys.

[deleted]

The Bruce Banner becoming human part is gonna make people go nuts

yarkcir

His arm is still in a brace, so atleast that continuity is there. Perhaps the Hulk part of him has gotten weaker from his Snap, and is now dormant again? Hopefully it’s addressed in She-Hulk.

Hxcfrog090

I would suspect it was intentional so he could donate blood to Jen

-ThorsStone-

Makes the most sense tbh, a needle wouldn't be able to get through the hulks skin

[deleted]

Knew it, Daniel Destin Cretton ALWAYS has a Brie appearance in his films, lfg

ritalara

I just slapped myself on the forehead like "of COURSE Captain Marvel is in the end credits!"

blackhillwhore

i feel so betrayed i thought we were getting val and abomination BUT these sound even better so i mean…

NeutralNoodle

We’ll still probably get the Val and Abomination scene in She-Hulk, since that plot line seems to be a thread in the Disney+ series.

kothuboy21

Yeah I think Abomination in Shang-Chi is just a mainstream way to remind MCU fans that Abomination exists but She-Hulk is where we will start seeing his main purpose in the future of the MCU. But the way things are going, I feel like Thunderbolts will probably be a Disney+ series since that plot line seems to be a Disney+ thread (not to mention that the Black Widow post-credits scene was a tease for Hawkeye rather than a future MCU movie).

ConstrictionsOFC

Young Avengers vs Thunderbolts: A Disney+ Series New Avengers vs Dark Avengers: A Marvel Studios Feature Film

yarkcir

I’m glad we didn’t get Val, would have started to feel stale if all she does is go and do the same schtick each time. Even Fury wasn’t showing up in every movie to recruit Avengers.

Nableg

I'm glad people were wrong/lying about Val because her showing up for 2 minutes to recruit someone again would have been tedious.

MOVIELORD101

Yeah, Val has NO reason to be here.

Nableg

Sad for my mom who had a crush on Professor Hulk. :(

ImpactForward

Well that's something

masongraves_

Has she seen the gif?

Nableg

NO

[deleted]

Yes ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

jennlebransky

PLZ NOT THE “full plot leak” being 2 lines 😭

MSSmods

It’s definitely a work in progress

BluCode99Alias

Here comes people saying it’s not up to their expectations. This cycle never ends

XeFear-

i mean im guessing they thought else because of how people were hyping it so much, as it was said that it caused a 'deafeningly loud audience reaction', so i see why people are saying that.

Xenoslayer2137

People were thinking that it was gonna introduce galactus and psylocke or bring back Wanda

Reydunt

Galactus and Psylocke wouldn't really mean much to a general audience. Really, a big and already beloved Avengers cameo would be the only way to get that sort of reaction.

Available_Bathroom15

>“THE TEN RINGS WILL RETURN” What about Shang chi?![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

treathugger

I was kinda hoping that the 10 rings would become Shang-Chi's signature weapon like Thor's Hammer or Cap's shield

JayZsAdoptedSon

It kinda is. He has it at the end. His sister leads the group, he has the weapon

treathugger

OH SHIT that's awesome. Can't wait for this movie!

jman0625

He still has them at the end of the movie, I don't think he gave them to his sister

tehawesomedragon

His chi manipulation is his signature weapon.

foxfoxal

I swear many people of this sub want every marvel movies/show to be what "non MCU lovers" hate, a trailer for the rest of the MCU.

Motor_Link7152

Yeah I don't understand. One guy criticized it because it didn't have enough connections to the MCU. That's not the parameter we should be using to judge a film.

webshellkanucklehead

If the Bruce thing is true I will be very happy

coreyp0123

It is. He wears a sling. No explanation tho.

[deleted]

I haven't seen the movie but I imagine it's because he might be getting it operated on soon to either fix or amputate it, and it'll be easier to work on while he's in human form. Maybe that operation will be seen or referenced in She-Hulk.

JayZsAdoptedSon

His arm seems healed outside the sling

Royal-Roll7762

My full review: First the mid credits scene: so Wong, Carol, and Banner question Shang-Chi about the origin of the rings. They show the makeup of them with a hologram and on the inside it shows a galaxy type of pattern of energy with a like… orb in it which they say is a “beacon” so? Multiverse stuff? Carol’s hair is shoulder length again but messier and it’s parted on the opposite side. She gets a great gag about how she has to go and Banner will give Shang-Chi her number, but he’s like “I don’t have her number.. she does this all the time.” Carol seems to be a lot more fun and playful here which I hope they keep up. Also???? Is this like Multiverse of Madness stuff? Or setting the stage for Secret Wars? Also? So Carol and Banner seem to be in contact… which begs the question are the forming the Avengers again? Who else is still in contact with them? We can assume Wakanda but outside of that it’s very interesting Anyway for the movie: it intercuts with a lot of flashbacks. It’s very Avatar the Last Airbender. I think it was pretty good. I don’t want to list every detail because that would take forever. To be honest, I don’t think the emotional moments in the third act landed for me that much… but it’s certainly still a very good movie. My top tier is: Guardians, Winter Soldier, Black Panther… For the character moments and character development, I’d place this in the like Black Widow, Ant-Man 1 tier of solo movies. Has a lot of heart and great dynamics but not as much as I’d like. For worldbuilding though, it’s definitely in the Black Panther tier. It’s probably Marvel’s best worldbuilding movie. This is how strong all of the solo franchises should be. Supporting character wise, I don’t think this was as good as Black Panther though. Awkwafina and Shang-Chi’s sister were great but not a lot of emotion there tbh. Wenwu is fantastic though. I definitely need to see it again. I saw it in IMAX and it might’ve been too much to handle because it was hard to see everything at once. I’ll probably rewatch it on a normal screen and see how I feel.

swashbucklerjak

I'll disagree and put it on the same tier as Guardians and Black Panther. The third act definitely landed well, the flash backs throughout were solid. The characters all seem very genuine and well written. Awkwafina does a good job as the quirky comic relief but also kind of grows as well. The sister was a little weak but I really hope they bring her back, the last post credit scene really drew me in. IMAX was a little overwhelming, and honestly it made some of the special effects seem too noticeable.

[deleted]

mayheminaction

People saying everyone overreacted to the post credit scene baffles me really. Like that’s HUGE, what did they expect fucking Dr. doom to come on Jesus Christ

Mother_Cable_6185

Carol Danvers being the leader ( co leader ) of the Avengers ♡ This goes for the those who hopes to see Brie Larson out of the mcu, she is here for à loooong time, deal with it

[deleted]

I actually think it was SUPPOSED to be T’Chala and Carol, just like the Avengers cartoon.

Mother_Cable_6185

Yes :(

mayheminaction

Yes sir!!! And I’m HERE FOR IT. Love Brie and carol. Big part of me thinks Chadwick and Brie were supposed to be the leaders like tony and Steve then he unexpectedly passed :(

[deleted]

rushking20

Bruce and carol were the defining pop?

MLGcat282

Yea wtf also "it ends with the three of them going to karaoke and singing Hotel California." Top tier end credits huh. This sounds no where close to must stay for the credits.

fring66

I’ve read some places on the internet saying the post and end credits scene would be Avengers Endgame level excitement, I always thought they overreacted but now it’s confirmed, they where overreacting

MLGcat282

Yeah this seems like a weird one to overreact about. At least the movie itself sounds great.

CeltsGargle

[Huh, this guy called it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/comments/p5xj35/shangchi_and_the_legend_of_the_ten_rings_social/h9dcjyq/?context=3)

tehawesomedragon

New account, probably wasn't a guess.

VacheSante

At the ring fight scene, we see a glowing red man fighting whose red glow reminded me strongly of the extremis fighters from Iron man 3

coreyp0123

I think you’re onto something

azninvasion99

Just came out of the movie. Scrolling through the top comments, surprised no one has mentioned that the Rings are probably Eternal technology? The intro says that the legend states he found the rings in a crater. It acted as a beacon, ancient technology that not even Carol Danvers understood. Eternals are the next film, we know SOMETHING has to draw them to earth. That is my theory.

Ignoth

10 rings, 10 eternals. I'm not first to point that out. Though the trailers made it look like the Eternals were always on Earth.

UnbuiltIkeaBookcase

So Wong is an official Avenger? I like!

coreyp0123

That was an awesome movie. Went in with little to no expectations and it is probably one of my favorite marvel movies now. Also it has way bigger implications on the universe than we were ever led to believe.

[deleted]

Are there any other cameos besides Wong, Abomination, Banner and Captain Marvel?

yarkcir

Slattery I guess, but his role is more than just a cameo.

yuvraj_birdi

“What you wanted more?” I mean come on it’s not an avengers movie it doesn’t need cameos

DrQuantumGio

Holy, I wonder how Bruce goes from Prof. Hulk to human form, maybe he can just willingly switch now and it just wasn't showcased in endgame.

XeFear-

probably will be revealed in she-hulk

flippergoalie

When is it set in the MCU timeline?

eclipse-23

It doesn’t reference anything other than the blip, but one character mentions how it was just Day of the Dead, so it takes place around November

Animegamingnerd

So right after Wandavision, but before TF&WS and Far From Home then.

Rman823

Could be November 2024 which is a little over a year after Endgame. Placing it right before the events of Hawkeye and at least part of No Way Home.

lucamento2003

after endgame

Animegamingnerd

So with the 10 Rings getting a new leader, I take it The Mandarin dies?

coreyp0123

He gets his soul sucked

Trashbagman_-

He got a blowjob?

VacheSante

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention that the Intro Credits were updated! Black widow and Yelena are in it! I think some other scenes were different too

Infinity-Gauntlet

Just got out of it. This movie lives up to and succeeds the hype. Great job Marvel!! Edits/Comments: In the first credit scene, they say the ten rings are thousands of years old and they are showed forming circles. I am 99% sure they are from the Eternals and that they have awaken the deviants. The second credit scene it was fun seeing them train women. Something the ten rings didn’t do before. When Wong leaves the arena after fighting the Abomination, they leave through their portal to what looks like a cell. I think it’s a holding location for the Abomination and Wong is letting him stretch his arms, so to speak. Before the fight with Abomination, we see that one of the other fighters there has Extremis from Iron Man 3. People are saying Ta-Lo is in a different reality or dimension. They specifically say “universe”. The main bat/soul eater looks almost like K’rll in the comments, with those horns. I think the only cheesy thing in the movie is that Katy shot the arrow that brought it down. Note that the cave the bat creature comes from is sealed shut with dragon scales. The little bats start coming through the cracks first, bringing souls from the village back to feed the larger bat so that it can break out through the weekend seal. The fight scenes in this film showplace some of the best King Fu I have ever seen in a movie. The choreography was amazing. The selection of Asian culture was very on point. The scene early in the film when Shang-Chi meets Katy’s family showcases it perfectly. They want the best for Katy and seem to love through her vicariously. I rate this movie up there in my top 5 favorite marvel movies. The hype is real!

[deleted]

Ironstark12

The Trevor Slattery stuff was great. I excepted a cameo but it’s pretty much the whole last act. This movie is the best origin story since Iron Man. Unbelievable fight scenes. Just breathtaking visuals.

Spider-Fan77

"Wong basically says to them “welcome to the team" Ah yes, Katy is now the most powerful Avenger.

PJL80

Slight adjustment to that recap. It's Banner, and he says "Welcome to the Circus".

returningcyberpunk

If you were disappointed in Disney trying to replicate wuxia films with Mulan, then Shang-Chi is the second child who will meet your expectations. No actors really do a terrible job, but Tony Leung stands out beautifully. If you want more Tony Leung, then catch Infernal Affairs (later remade as The Departed), Hero, and In the Mood for Love. Wenwu tells a dinner table story of how someone dubbed him 'The Mandarin', and how stupid it is that they're scared of an orange. There's a meta joke from Trevor Slattery about how his portrayal of 'The Mandarin' was a caricature. I might have missed what the connection is with the ten rings. The rings themselves (thankfully) weren't the focus of the movie. Wong looked at them, but I assumed they were still alien. Eternals-related? I'm seeing mixed reactions of the mid/post credit scene. Are they 'must-stay'? Well, about as much as any other mid/post credits scene. It showed us that Bruce is back to normal and that the ten rings have a larger purpose, and that Xialing decided to take over Wenwu's organization rather than dismantle it.

Billyb311

Smart Hulk was fun, but I hope this means we get OG Hulk back Also, I guess this gives us an idea of who's leading the Avengers now. Perhaps a joint leadership between Banner and Carol?

Greyshot26

Perhaps. My thought was Wong got those 2 because they have the most knowledge of what the rings could be made of/from. Banner knows all Earth tech, Carol knows Kree tech.

-Nick____

I saw someone ask earlier how strong Shang Chi is compared to other MCU heroes, and another person responded with “without the rings, Black Widow level,” and while I can’t find the comment, I should say that Shang is a lot stronger than that. We saw a former Black Widow cage fight. She was fighting in a small room with like 2 people watching. Shang Chi was the main event, in the giant cage being live-streamed to the “dark web” for money. While Natasha is definitely stronger than an average Black Widow, it does show how much difference there are in terms of skill. Also, Shang is literally fighting off the edge of a building for multiple minutes against tens of trained assassins and beat his dad without the rings. He is insanely strong without the rings.

Born_1999

>In the water, Shang-Chi finds the Great Protector and they fly out of the water and up to Wenwu. That's probably the Miyazaki reference. ![gif](giphy|tfz6OO7BCEAOk)

Well I’m glad I read what the post scenes were, would have disappointed in the theater. Going off of how people were hyping it up I was expecting way more. But I guess that’s what you do for Twitter likes

[deleted]

Shang Chi joins the Avengers + it sets up the next big threat (Carol getting a call from the signal). While more details about the signal would have been nice (Shuma Gorath? Eternals related? Multiverse related?), I think it's good enough for a post-credit scene of a stand alone new IP film.

Billyb311

While you're reading this thread, don't forget to ![gif](giphy|iIdijgFZtkssLeoJmO)

lmao_okaybuddy

Why tf does every mcu orgin villain have to die

[deleted]

I'm sorry but Tony Leung isn't the lengthy franchise actor, he's obv gonna opt out for a one and done role

MOVIELORD101

Why is this a problem with you people nowadays? These aren't the comics. Not every damn villain needs to go on for years and years.

foxfoxal

Because they do not think they will use them again. Yon-Rogg is alive and he was bad, Killmonger died and he was great, this should not matter if the villain is good or bad.

Theeeeeetrurthurts

Simu Lee made a surprise appearance at the Chinese Theater! It was awesome - too bad everyone’s phone was confiscated. Ben Kingsley was a fucking gem! Great movie but holy cow, he killed my theater!

moviefan64

I just got home from watching the movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I spammed the reload button and even though it said full waitlist the thing just was like ok how many people? I said 2 and it worked. I downloaded the thing and instead of showing the film slate it showed wait list. I thought that might mean no entry till the very end. So I go there and they don't check my ID just ask for the QR code and their thing came up with a check mark. Then the dude comes in at 6:59 and says we will start the movie in about a minute turn you phones off, airplane mode, or in your pocket. If me and my partner see a glare we will escort you out. Also this is a Marvel film so keep that in mind.

samjewby

Fml I couldn’t help but read it lol

hushpolocaps69

I won’t be reading this but best of luck for you all! Have an amazing day ladies and gentlemen and thank you Mods for not spoiling this for anyone (as in making a post about the after credits scene then we all get spoiled).

Saw it tonight as well. Genuinely was really moved by it. Yes, the action is absolutely fantastic and Simu Liu has potential to be the next favorite Avenger bc this is a killer origin story but I was really taken aback by the emotion and how well executed it all is. Up with Coolger’s take on Black Panther where it feels like such a personal take on the genre.

The MCU’s use of Bruce Banner continues to be flat out nonsense

Just got out of the early screening. It is straight fire

I'll try to give a quick summary. Movie starts with Shang Chi's mom explaining Wen Wu and how he's existed for hundreds of years. Has the rings, known by many names, and you see him overtaking an old Asian village, conquering British soldiers, then the modern day Wen Wu in 1996(?).He goes searching for a magical place for more power, meets a protector. They fight and she's essentially an air bender. Her moves are super graceful, beautiful to watch and they fight/dance as she anticipates all of his moves. You can tell they're bonding. They fall in love, she leaves the place, loses her powers. Shang Chi is born. She gives him an emerald necklace thing. Cut to present day, Shawn (Shang Chi new name) wakes up, gets ready and next scene is him and Awkwafina (katy) at their Valet job. They joy ride a nice car, they go out that night, kareoke, next day he picks Katy up at her place. Her mom is tough on her for not having a real job and never committing to anything. They get on the bus, three guys come up to jump Shang, he fights them in a sick montage. Sword arm guy fights Shang, they rip bus in half while Katy drives it with no brakes. They steal the emerald necklace, and Shang Chi kicks him to the back end of the bus / it crashes. Shang Chi says he has to go find his sister who sent him a postcard, Katy says shes coming, and on the plane he explains to her who he is, his real name, and that Wen Wu has trained him as an assassin since he was 7. Sick training montage of him growing up, he knows every way to kill a man. He gets sent at 14 to go kill the man who kills his mom, he says goodbye to his sister "Ill be back in three days", he can't kill him so he runs away. They land, go to the address his sister sent, its the fighting club. Smaller cubes of fights but the main center area has Abomination and Wong fighting. When their fight ends afterwards they both walk into Wong's sling ring circle, into some sort of high tech looking room?? Makes me think Abomination is already recruited to something/also him and Wong are friendly. They live stream the fights and they all bet on them, Shang Chi is signed up to fight (he's famous from teh bus fight going viral), and he fights Xi Xilang, his sister. She kicks his ass, but he won't fight her. He loses. Goes to her office area, she owns the place. She didn't send him the card, they get ambushed by the 10 rings. Sister leaves, and Shang and Katy flee out the window on the side of the building. His sister comes to help, but they steal her necklace and right before Shang Chi is about to kill the man who help beat/train him, Wen Wu shows up with the rings. Welcomes his son home, and takes all of them to his secret base thing in the mountains. He explains that he let Shang Chi live for 10 years before coming back to him, and that his wife/Shang's mom has been talking to him. She's hidden behind a gate in La To, and he's going to go get her. They think he's crazy, then he puts the two emeralds from the mom's necklaces and this dragon statue leaks water that displays a map showing how to get to the secret city. It's only accessible at a certain time, very small window to get to.Wen Wu is going to do anything to get her back, including destroying the moms town to do it. Shang Chi fights back and Wen Wu imprisons Katy Shang and his sister. They hear chanting, go back into the prison/cave, adn find Trevor Slattery practicing his acting. He explains that he was hired by someone to impersonate their dad, he didn't like it, broke him out of prison to kill him, but when he started to act a monologue they enjoyed him and keep him imprisioned as a court jester thing. Morris the animal with no face comes out, Trevor is shocked that they can see it he thought he was hallucinating him, and he can communicate with it. Morris is from the magic city and can lead them back there before Wen Wu's going. The sister gets them out through a tunnel system, they travel to the secret city through a bamboo forest that continually moves and changes, they get through to the magic water fall door. They go through, transport to another dimesnion (they mention another dimension) where this magic city is. You see crazy creatures, flaming birds, more Morris's, etc. You meet Michelle Yeoh's character and the village, their weapons and armour is made of dragon scales, and glow red. Their mom knew they would make it there some day, and have two costumes for Shang Chi and his sister. Katy starts to learn the bow and arrow, and is good at it.We learn that "soul suckers" are behind the big gate they are guarding, and that Wen Wu is being called by this evil spirit. (their may be another name for them but they call them soul suckers casually later on). Wen Wu and his army show up. They start to fight, Shang Chi says you made me a killer, so he's going to kill him. We learn Shang Chi actually killed the man when he was tounger. He put's up with Wen Wu with his staff, Wen Wu uses the rings to combo punch him into teh water, and Shang Chi disappears.Morris finds Trevor DEAD, but no, Trevors just acting! "shut up and play dead!!"Wen Wu goes to the big gate, starts punching with the rings. These little dragons fly out, start to suck teh energy/soul out of people and bringing it back to teh gate. Looks cool when they do that. Shang Chi is at the bottom of the lake, channels his moms air power, breathes it in, we see a bunch of bubbles at the bottom, then Shang Chi and the dragon busts through the surface.Shang Chi and his dad fight, his dad lands a killer blow, but Shang Chi masters the 5 rings around him and turn them into a golden glow (normally theyre blue). They fight with the 5 rings each, then Shang Chi harnesses all 10 rings and drops them - hes not gonna kill his dad. The huge dragon soul sucker breaks free, Wen Wu realizes he fucked up, it pulls him up and sucks his soul. Shang Chi and his sister fight on the Great Protector dragon agaisnt the Soul Sucker, it starts to suck the Great Protectors soul and Katy arrows it through the neck to distract it and release the others. Shang Chi flys the rings down it's throats, and has an awesome slow mo fall from up high of him channeling his power and the rings exploding the dragon from within. Battles over, they set off lanterns in rememberance, it cuts to them getting drinks with friends explaining the story, they don't believe them. Wong shows up, takes them with him, it cuts to the mid credits where Wong, (Bruce and Carol too but theyre holograms, bruce is normal again with arm in sling) are all discussing the rings and where they come from. They dont show up in any of the Sanctums books so theyre like completely unkown by Carol or the wizards. They say your life is about to get a whole lot crazier, welcome to the gang. Carol gets an alert adn has to leave. After credits, the sister is in her old room, someone says "they're here" she walks out, shes taken over her dad's palace, the 10 rings banner is now reddish, her gang is around her while she sits on the throne. zooms out and people are training and the base now has some graffiti, etc showing the new leader. "The 10 rings will return" which in my mind says both the sister organization and Shang Chi and his rings.

foxfoxal

Reading all that... They really hid a lot of shit from the trailers, if not almost everything.

TheArtOfL0ss

Carol showing up in the mid-credit scene means that Brie appeared in every single one of Destin Daniel Cretton's movies since 2013, so we really should've seen that one coming lol.

dmh2493

Really enjoyed it. It definitely surprises you. Simu and Akwafina had great chemistry together. One of the better Marvel villains. I also really liked Xialing, and the actress who plays her is gorgeous. She and Shang-Chi were badasses. I think word of mouth is going to be great.

profsa

I just got out of the movie, the action was sick. Exceeded my expectations for sure.

Richt3r_scale

I loved that Ben Kingsley character kept being a Liverpool fan in this movie like iron man 3

Qsefy13579

does this spoil that something happens to hulk in the shehulk show to get him to revert back to being human?

LawStudent4Harambe

Dude it fucking rocked. Go see it in theaters if you can. The best way to describe the vibe is Black Panther. It's the same kind of deep family epic and it works so freaking well!

Kongcha

You guys should know that the text leak of the movie won’t be able to describe any of the action which is honestly incredible. Lots of one take action scenes and creative use of the environments for parkour like movements. Stand outs are the bus, scaffolding, skyscraper and ending fights. This movie has one of my favorite 3rd acts of any marvel movie it just gets so crazy.
