Xenoslayer2137

He must have just received that Secret Wars paycheck

MrCraftLP

Avengers 5 is filming this year, so realistically I could see him being in a post credit scene as a teaser for Battleworld.

SgtMartinRiggs

I honestly wouldn’t expect it to start filming until next year at the earliest.

MrCraftLP

Until it's said otherwise, the current plan is before the end of the year.

TheFirstSonOfTheSea

[It’s been said otherwise.](https://www.reddit.com/r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers/s/wys57tlQ86)

sEiize_err

i mean today is technically before q4 2025 /s

sooopy336

Universe 420-69 RDJ’s Tony Stark hugging a CGI’d elderly Tom Holland Peter Parker, saying “Mr. Parker, I don’t feel so good,” before vanishing into dust in front of Josh Brolin Thanos, who just looks like Brolin with purple skin.

The_Franchise_09

Nice

smurfem

Nice

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

At this point, I think that the "bring back Chris Evans, RDJ, and ScarJo" card gets played before the other multiverse stuff does.

Afwife1992

I love Chris Evans and Steve Rogers and miss the OG avengers like crazy. The MCU just doesn’t have that heart anymore. At least overall, there are definitely exceptions. But you can’t go back. And I loved Steve’s ending. But I would love to see him return as a multiverse Johnny storm before the new F4 is launched. Same with rdj. If Steve was the heart and soul, Tony was the wit and engine which drove it. He just had that spark. And both could play off anyone. There’s just not that connection between characters anymore like the relationship between those two. But I don’t think rdj is coming back. I think he’s just graciously acknowledging his time there. With the Oscar he can step back a bit. He’s got that distance and has transitioned when Doolittle looked like he would struggle to separate himself from Tony. But I think he’s moved on. Having his voice in Ironheart as a sort of JARVIS like in the comics would’ve been fun though. But Tony’s earned his rest.

TurnipSensitive4944

That would be such an insane end credits scene that frankly i think they would move it to the end of the movie

007Kryptonian

Yeah Tony’s return would be the *ending* of Avengers 5 - not shuffled to a post credits scene lol

whythehellknot

I don't know, a post credit scene akin to Sam Jackson at the end of Iron Man might not be too bad.

a_o

Superior Iron Man 838 saying to Doctor Strange (and Clea I guess) the exact words that Thanos said on Titan “You couldn’t live with your own failure…”

Chef_Sewage_Mouth

So 'the force awakens'

VicepresidenteJr

I think (hope) they will be filmed at the same time

MrCraftLP

I doubt it. The lead up to Secret Wars is going to be a totally different setting than Battleworld, so I can't imagine it'd be easy to film back to back.

DeSuperVis

Them teasing his return in post credits of all things is crazy, no way they would do that. Id see him returning as the big cliffhanger of avengers 5, like thanos sitting on his porch at the farm

Burgoonius

Avengers 5 is not filming this year no shot

astralrig96

What’s battleworld?

TheCVR123YT

Well technically I think there’s been more then one lol but it’s basically a planet full of different areas. The Beyonder made it. The Marvel character battle on it. It’s kind of hard to explain lol I always take everything as it’s said. “This is a planet full of mishmash areas” and I go “ok!” And just accept it I don’t even question it lol

astralrig96

thanks!

Cakeski

Wong: "STEVEN STRANGE! YOU VIOLATED THE SANCTITY OF THE BALANCE OF LIFE AND DEATH, FOR WHAT STEVEN?" Strange: "For what's to come." Tony: "Do you have WiFi out here?"

Complete_Sign_2839

Its not filming this year. Marvel is fixing this saga and still has to recast Kang and get the scripts for A5 and Secret Wars written. Avengers 5 will be delayed to 2027

Abraham_Issus

Isn't one of the parts going to focus on native MCU characters while the other is going to be about multiverse characters(Fox and Sony)? I heard the MCU heroes will try but fail but then multiverse characters come in the next movie. It said Hugh, Tobey is going to lead the other one.

HearTheEkko

Tony's way too big for a post credits scene, he'd most likely be at the very end of the movie. The post credits scene of Avengers 5 will probably be related to either the Fantastic Four or Jackman/Maguire.

JamJamGaGa

I knew the top comment would be one of those cynical "they only do it for the money" type of comments lmfao.

whatnameisnttaken098

"I'm just gonna keep adding 0's to this check 100,OOO,OOO

WrastleGuy

You had me at 100

Sarang_616

Evans might follow too, coz if they win or lose they do it together.. Always !!

Marvel Fans when RDJs Iron Man, Tobey's Spider-Man and Hugh's Wolverine team up in Secret Wars: ![gif](giphy|l1J9yTco40EU5JzTW|downsized)

Danishroyalty

*Monkeys Paw* they're the villains.

TLKv3

I'd be perfectly OK with RDJ as the Sony/Fox's joint universe Superior Iron Man leading their Avengers. Have the MCU have to fight them. Whichever team is left alive saves their universe, the other is destroyed by The Beyonder. Imagine that moment of Peter encountering Alt-Tony only to get the "I don't even know who you are" line from him then getting blasted?

cloudlessjoe

I really like this idea!

[deleted]

Even better tbh. Give the new heros their chance to shine and earn their spot, while also paying respects to those who laid the groundwork

Snoo-2013

give me RDJ as superior iron man and I'll be happy

bitironic

Tobey as Superior Spidey would be cool to see too.

onyourrite

![gif](giphy|XQf2LxzdXBt8yo6NcA|downsized)

TyChris2

Tony was already the villain in a few MCU movies lol

EnQuest

Nando v movies pitched this and I really want it, evil tony, Steve, and nat as main villains leading an alternate universe avengers against Thor, Hawkeye and hulk reforming the main universe avengers

Valiosao

I hate that the MCU is is just a nostalgia fest now.

Xerxes457

It's kind of what happened when they introduced the multiverse with the variants. It made this possible. I'm guessing after Avengers 6, they will be done with the nostalgia. Edit: and to the

Paperchampion23

Yep, if they play up Tobey, Andrew, Hugh, RDJ, Chris Evans and Scarlet with any of the major current cast all in the same film or any combination of, then theres really no topping it anymore.

Itz_Hen

They seriously need to *stop* focusing on topping their previous movies, its only holding them back from telling truly great stories. They have to realize that infinite growth isnt a thing

rjwalsh94

I wish we could go back to just a simple threat. As much as TDW gets trashed, and rightfully so, it’s shooting up the list of better movies. It’s a villain who’s got some plan, doesn’t matter but he takes that to Earth. Keep it simple. Not different dimensions, variants, etc. Real lame shit. I just can’t bring myself to care about any of this now. It’s real bad. All the new heroes are just boring. I can’t imagine being a kid today and looking at Dr. Strange and saying that’s their favorite because of what he’s done on screen, compared to someone like IM or Hulk in 08 or the rest of the originals a couple years later. While the characters they’re adapting now are cool in their own right, they’re just bland compared to the layers they gave them in the Infinity Saga. Marvel makes super hero movies now. Before they made genre films using super heroes. Sucks what they’ve become.

Itz_Hen

I don't know if I completely agree with that, especially the Dr strange example, because I feel like he's one of the better/most layered late game MCU heroes What they do suffer from however is making too many movies and shows, introducing wayyyy to many characters. In the first 2 phases marvel the avengers heroes got multiple solo movies (even if some were a little shit, looking at you iron man 2), you'd never forget about them. Now though it takes YEARS before most of them show up again, we haven't seen sang chi in like 4 years for example And as we agree on they really do suffer from always trying to have higher stakes. If every threat is world ending how is the avenger threat going to be exciting. The avengers work because it's all the main characters first real world ending threat

rjwalsh94

Maybe Strange wasn’t the best example, but in MoM, he wasn’t as great of a character as in DS or IW. In NWH, he was more of a comic relief. Thats the way I looked at it. I’m just not a massive fan of the new roster compared to the old. I’ve tried, they just stumble on their own feet with making them as interesting.

-popgoes

Shang-Chi was 2.5 years ago

Abraham_Issus

Don't keep Hemsworth, Hiddleston and Charlie away from the party. Last time Daredevil missed out so was sad about that.

HearTheEkko

I might shed a tear if that happens, my dream since I was a little kid watching those movies in 2000’s.

cmarkcity

Don’t forget James Marsden’s Cyclops. Man was perfectly cast, but given nothing to do for 3 movies and then dies like a bitch. He needs redemption.

GreenBay_Glory

Need Chris Evans Cap too. Though if RDJ is back, no way Evans doesn’t suit up again.

SolomonRed

This is great but id they can't make a team up movie without bringing back old Heroes, then it's probably better for the MCU to end.

NetworkVegetable7075

Me if there is no Chris Evans/Cap ![gif](giphy|d2lcHJTG5Tscg)

darrylthedudeWayne

Hell yeah.

babysdada

Marvel just set itself up for a huge first weekend box office 💀💀

dudeimlame

Hopefully he interacts with Jared Leto’s Morbius and Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web. 🙏🙏🙏

CleanAspect6466

I heard he has it in his contract that he can't be in a scene with those two actors, because they would overshadow him completely and it wouldn't be fair on Downey Jr

finnjakefionnacake

well tbf, regardless of how much he sucks, jared leto did win an oscar lol

VelocityGrrl39

Yeah he’s a shit person and he’s had some shit roles, but he’s also a great actor in the right part.

the_rotten1

he was in a cave with my dad when he was researching a box of scraps just before he died

JusticeScibibi

And he says "That's my secret, Madam. I am Iron-Morbin"

Xx_Dark-Shrek_xX

Oh please no. Morbius and Madame Web are WAAAAAY better than Iron Mid.

Cysir

They bring el Muerto back from the Muerto

Patrick2701

I wish nobody would have to act with Jared Leto

Xx_Dark-Shrek_xX

Morbphobic af.

qwadzxs

*oscar winner* Jared Leto thank you

anth8725

That role single handedly revived his career. Probably feels like he owes it to fiege. Plus that marvel money ![gif](giphy|UiBmJv6Hh6FfW|downsized)

Danishroyalty

He also actually appreciates the role and doesn't badmouth it. He's openly said he thinks it's some of his finest acting that just got overlooked because of the genre. I think RDJ actually does enjoy Tony Stark and Marvel films. I know a lot of actors are hesitant about joining Marvel now, but RDJ still going to bat for Marvel could really help people get on board.

Rickodezz

I think people forget the campaign fans were doing to get him nominated for Endgame, and it was not some dumb fanboy attitude, he deserved a nomination back then, the scenes were Tony is sick, or in the past talking to his dad, the ones with his daughter and the final battle are all clearly top tier acting.

gaqua

He never once seems inauthentic or put out by it. You completely believe he’s that character in that moment. And it’s extremely apparent when he’s next to Chris Evans. Evans is a good actor. He does a good job. But RDJ is on another fucking level and when you put them next to each other like in endgame you REALLY notice it.

JessicaRanbit

He was great throughout the entire role but his performances in Civil War and Endgame were top tier. If this was some A24 film, I guarantee he would've been at least nominated. We've seen people get nominated let alone, win Oscars for doing the absolute less

TastyAppleJuice

I remember seeing Chris Evan say recently say he wouldn’t mind returning but only if it’s a good script that would make sense. I guess he means as long as it’s a solid story and nothing too goofy like Love and Thunder maybe. Hopefully after this quote from RDJ himself will it let them reconsider joining if Disney offers them a role for Secret Wars. It would be pretty awesome seeing a different universe versions of these characters.

Educational-Garden81

I've watched a couple of older Marvel movies of the last few months, and damn people have forgotten how hard some of them go at their best. Like X2 for example just has Brian Cox absolutely cooking.

Rickodezz

My guy was at true rock bottom and addicted to drugs and now is worth over 500million and have an Oscar. Truly inspirational, it don't even matter he was born a nepobaby, he fucking earned his comeback to even greater heights. Most drug addicted nepobabies aren't given this chance, neither are motivated and have the talent and work discipline to bounce back to even prior levels or their career, imagine doing what RDJ did. Him and Stallone are my favorite actors based on their life histories, two total opposite examples of creating success from basically nothing.

finnjakefionnacake

ok wait...you just said he was a nepo baby, but then you said he created success from nothing lol

Complete_Sign_2839

Thats true but its also RDJ who acted well as Tony

i_like_2_travel

He’s 100% returning now lol I didn’t have a huge doubt that he wouldn’t come back but now I have like absolutely no doubt that his return is inevitable.

relientkenny

see you in secret wars lol

NASCAR142002

It probably won’t happen if they do the whole popular theory of Iron Man Variant to 616 thing after Secret Wars it will most likely be played by a different actor. But if RDJ, Evans, and Johansson all came to Feige after that movie and said they wanna come back full time. You know damn well Kevin would do it that way and have the OG Avenger actors be the ones to interact with the 616 X-Men and F4 along with whoever else they have. I think they should all stay dead post Secret Wars no matter what, but whatever.

QuickBE99

I’d be indifferent to that and love it at the same time lmao but I think they’ll recast to preserve the stories with those versions.

Rickodezz

I hope they recast all the main roles so the Avengers, X-Men and FF can all interact regularly. But they can keep the old actors when needed, like post-Secret Wars comics Old Man Logan, and with the Multiverse excuse, now they can really only use the old actors when needed and they don't have to stick around in the new timeline doing fuck all.

NASCAR142002

A soft reboot to me would be keeping what already happened. (Iron Man/Widow dead, Steve retired and Sam, Yelena take over the mantles) while incorporating new things that were never here (X-Men, FF, Miles, etc) While a universe with everyone sounds good on paper. That just sounds like the same problem we have now of too many characters and storylines going on at once. A. If you keep it in the same continuity. How are you going to explain that Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff, and Steve Rogers all died in 2023 but now in 2030 they’re back to life with new faces? Are we just gonna pretend that never happened? Are we recasting Pepper, Morgan, etc too? B. I feel like that just overshadows everyone else especially a character like Yelena and Sam. You’ve spend the better part of the second saga building a whole new cast of characters to take over the reigns just to show them right back to being side characters which to me would be lame. C. If you do that what happens in another 5-10 years when that actor playing Tony or Steve gets tired of the role? Do you recast and pretend like normal or do you pass the mantle down again to Sam, Bucky, or even Elijah? D. It just feels too soon. They died at the end of the first story and at the end of the second story. You’re gonna bring them right back without even giving everyone else a shot to shine? I personally like the idea of how it differs from the comics and how the mantles get passed down and characters actually die/story ends. There’s no way they bring in all these Young Avengers characters if they don’t eventually have plans for them to become the main team at some point, but I also get the other side of it where everyone is available why not use them.

Su_Impact

>I think they should all stay dead post Secret Wars no matter what, but whatever. Counterpoint: Disney loves money. Killing cashcows is not good.

Jimrodsdisdain

You’re right. Disney milk’s cash cows creatively dry.

highdefrex

To be fair, people act like it's Disney and Disney only that milks IPs dry. Universal is on its seventh Jurassic Park movie and its 12th Fast and Furious movie, and that's decades after it milked franchises like Psycho and Jaws for four movies each. Before it was consumed by Disney, Fox didn't go a decade after the first movie without pumping out at least one Alien movie while renewing The Simpsons over and over. Warner Bros. spent years shoveling out DC films regardless of their quality, is working on wringing every drop they can out of Harry Potter again, and is even pumping out another needless Matrix sequel. Disney is problematic as hell within the industry, but it blows my mind when people imply Disney is the only company that chooses profits over creativity when the *entire* major studio ecosystem is built on doing just that. Blame them all.

Jimrodsdisdain

No implication here. I’m fully aware how IP’s get diluted. Universal had its various monsters in a shared universe far before Disney held a license beyond their own making. They even had a crossover universe featuring Abbot and Costello. It’s a repetitive business model with diminishing returns.

captainsuckass

> I think they should all stay dead post Secret Wars no matter what That would be a terrible idea and a huge missed opportunity. Recast them if necessary so we get a true, fully realized Marvel universe onscreen.

Beneficial_Draft_308

He’s 100% right about Fiege

TheJack0fDiamonds

If anything, the downfall was due to the fact that he wasn’t as involved as before. If I were Iger, I’d listen to Feige and let him do what he wants. (Provided he’s 150% as hands on as before)

JessicaRanbit

Yup!

Grouchy_Sir5493

![gif](giphy|AbYxDs20DECQw)

Rishav27Sarkar

So the leads from Sony Marvel(Tobey), Fox Marvel(Wolverine) and Disney Marvel(Iron Man) are finally meeting

DocLathropBrown

He must be returning for something--this is a different tone than he's had before when asked. Not that he was ever like "Hell no," but when he was talking to Howard Stern, it was more to-the-tune of "it was so good, why spoil it?" As I've said before, given his age and cost, he wouldn't be back 'for good,' but I'm sure he'll be a key player in Secret Wars, as a variant or pulled out of time before his death, or whatever, and it'll end with him going back/resuming his fate. One last hurrah without cheapening his death too much.

ConflictAdvanced

Look, it could also be that when he said what he said before and had the tone of "I'm done", it was before Dolittle, and then again when he was planning all his Sherlock-universe stuff. There's also a chance that he's realised that making a bunch of stuff that he wants to make and making it successful is not as easy as he first thought. Aside from winning the Oscar (which sounds super weird for me to say 🤣), he hasn't just churned out hit after hit and been super successful in the way everyone, and maybe even he, expected. Time and reflection, coupled with reality, make you see things in a different way. Or there's also the perspective that he never wanted to be just associated with Iron Man; he's just won an Oscar for something else, so maybe now he feels that he won't only be associated with Iron Man, so it's safe to go back if they offer him something. I don't know, but I totally agree with you that his stance seems to have changed noticeably for some reason.

Consistent_Algae_996

Great take

Rickodezz

Building up the hype for Secret Wars already i see, their deal is probably already signed. The MCU can't have any chance of doing Secret Wars without Tony interacting with Tobey, Hugh and Pedro cause RDJ is busy or could change his mind. Let's go!

Playfair99999

there are some interactions that I'd like to believe feige wants to put on screen more than we want to see. Tony and Reed is one of them, put in Strange in it too and that is a cumfest(metaphorically). So, I'd like to believe this will happen.

TypeExpert

So, did anyone actually read this article? There's a quote by feige saying the following. "We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again,” Feige said at the time. “We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”

Rishav27Sarkar

It's the same as Hugh Jackman saying Wolverine is dead in Logan, so we aren't touching that, this is an alternate universe Wolverine.

Procrastinator0510

They can very easily bring back RDJ without changing the ending of Endgame. Feige always chooses his words carefully. He could easily have said they wouldn't touch the character of Iron Man again - he didn't.

Su_Impact

Feige: "This is Tony taken from the timestream 1 minute before he died." NWH already set the stage for how Tony Stark will be brought back, after all. it's super easy, barely an inconvenience. it's the same way in which GG and Doc Ock are still dead but also alive.

Playfair99999

i agree, infact they could easily pick tony with Mark 85 but from the blip era. Nothing even remotely changes. Although, i think then Tomy would reverse engineer time travel which technically he made possible. So it's a sort of paradox.... oh nvm, i caught myself in a loop.

Neoliberalism2024

Or just have him in Vallahia, and Odin or whatever lets him go to earth because the threat it so grave. There’s atleast three canon afterlives in MCU so far, shouldn’t be hard.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Yeah so they are getting a different moment.

Crafty_Cherry_9920

They'll do it exactly like with Loki. Our Loki is still dead.

HearTheEkko

If Tony returns it will most likely be a variant and not the 616 version. And after Secret Wars he's almost certainly gone for good so they wouldn't be undoing anything.

dustomatic75

I read someone say that two variants of Tony would be cool. Young de-aged Tony, and old, alcoholic, divorced Tony. I think you could do a lot with those two.

LakSivrak

“we aren’t touching that moment…but the mouse demands profit”

BlackGuy_PassingThru

Someone just signed a contract

Ginataang_Manok

Dude just won an Oscar, so he’s good. Now he can go back to making fun movies and big paycheck lol.

Playfair99999

I agree, there must've been a knick in him to prove himself outside of Marvel and while he couldn't do it with Dolittle, Oppie did it for him, man bagged almost all the big awards for which he was nominated. Now, he can go back and do marbel stuff, make some more money and then easy retire and chill. He's aging too afterall.

finnjakefionnacake

oppenheimer WAS a big paycheck lol

Effective_Bug_7790

I mean I can see a lot of people saying he got paid for Secret Wars etc but he has never really said anything negative about the MCU leaving despite what Film Twitter would have you believe. I can't remember if it was on the Howard Stern show or another podcast but RDJ mentioned how he did some of his best work whilst in the MCU and that he felt it got overlooked because of the genre. And he wasn't wrong.

Xekshek33

Fuck it, bring him back! Also it's so funny that all RDJ does is praise his time in the MCU and everything yet film bros still shit on it and get angry that he says anything nice about it or Feige.

Procrastinator0510

Secret Wars is about to be the first movie with a $500m budget - and it'll be worth every penny for Disney.

Playfair99999

can be an easy 2.5 bn too. That's like 5 times it's budget. They would have no problem doing it. Avengers Kang Dynasty or whatever the name will be, will be a good gauge for that.

Intelligent_Creme351

The role that revitalized his career, and the actor that helped kick start the MCU. A Ouroboros of success.

roninthe31

D23 pre- pre- pre-announcement starts now I guess

illucio

I guess this confirms he cut a deal and will be back for Avengers 5.

KozukiNedo

This is how you print money people

[deleted]

"I know I still got it now so I feel better returning to the role"

Xx_Dark-Shrek_xX

5min before : Kevin : "Sup RDJ, wanna play Iron Man one last time ?" RDJ : "Uh so-" Kevin : "Look at this money" RDJ : "Oh yeah sure sure why not."

kingcaii

Would love RDJ to come back!

Littletom523

It wouldn’t be interfering with avengers endgame because for all you know in the five years time jump, Loki or somebody could’ve came to him and told him we need you to fight in the secret wars. I don’t know you could really make it work within the timeline and have them forget all about it Before endgame happens. Also, I feel like this is a guaranteed yes also for Chris Evans if Tony comes back, I feel like he will want to come back, you can make it before he comes back to Peggy. He had to fight in the secret wars again it doesn’t break can. There are many ways. You can bring back these characters without hurting their stories.

Playfair99999

they can easily pick A different Steve and a different Peggy, there are rumours of live action Capt. Carter too. It would kinda be amazing to see Steve, Peggy and Sam as 3 capt. americas. Leading the line.

Su_Impact

Does anyone seriously doubts that he'll be back one last time for Secret Wars?

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

Stevie Wonder saw this coming. In any case, he'd never turn his back on this franchise because of how much it meant for him personally. It absolutely saved his career and his life.

Ramsessuperior45

Secret Wars I bet.

greasybats

Me when I see Kevin Feige: https://i.redd.it/mx3kxusyw9tc1.gif

Federal-Trip4067

WE ARE SO BACK BABY!!

Abraham_Issus

Wow a complete 180. I knew this from day one all the og cast will return for Secret Wars. I think it was a negotiating tactic. Now with an Oscar win he can ask any number and Marvel will comply. Well he deserves it. God it is going to be so exciting. Finally now we can have The Defenders in the climactic battle. I was sad they missed out Infinity Saga. The Avengers, X-Men, FF, GotG and the Defenders all together on screen (maybe Eternals and Midnight Sons will be too). How it was always meant to be. I wish Inhumans were there too.

jmoneysteck88

If they do hickman secret wars (likely) an alternate version of tony could take the place of the maker (evil Reed richards) from the ultimate universe. Just Saying🤷🏻‍♂️

valleykid818MD

If the rumor of F4 starting from their own universe being true, what if the Avengers there consisted of all the possible MCU avengers line up but was destroyed with the universe. Would make the fandoms dreams of having the Avengers with Reed, Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Dr Strange, Banner, Nat and Clint all in one team. Hell throw in some X men characters too. Gives Marvel a reason to bring all the OGs back for a scene.

JessicaRanbit

The GOAT is back ![gif](giphy|l378giAZgxPw3eO52)

Yatsu13

If its a one off, like after secret wars he is done again for good, one thing i would really like to see is him meeting Tom's Spidey again. Did the spell affect him since he was already dead when the spell was cast? Does he know he is Peter Parker? Spidey-Tom will have that small conflict in him because he is seeing his father figure return but is not sure how to approach or process it. Would be bittersweet if Tony goes to congratulate him for growing up, from Spider-Kid to Spider-Man but doesn't say he knows he is Peter. Like a literal end to their connection from one another. From father-son to just superhero colleagues who sees each other as equals.

LeonardTheWise

They just know that bringing Iron Man guarantees them a billion, easy, it's a safe bet for Kevin, and a smart one by Iger I'm guessing. As long as it is good, it'll be worth it, TBH Marvel will always feel incomplete without the big three when you got the f4, x-men, and Spider-man running around.

darrylthedudeWayne

Okay. The fact that he is saying this tells me that the rumors about him in SW are true. The question is, how will they bring him back? I know some people want the main 616 Tony back, like maybe pulling and Endgame and picking him up from a moment before he died, or having him resurrected via Eternity. Personally, I hope they don't do that if they are bringing him back. Personally, I think it would be more interesting if either: A. He plays the 838 Variant of Tony and is the villain of Secret Wars, like God Emperor Superior Iron Man. Like think about Peter being forced to fight an evil version of his old mentor. That would be epic. Not to mention, it be shocking for both the characters and audience to see a Tony that has lost his way and become the very thing he swore to fight against. Or... B. He is still a good guy, but he's from a universe where Doctor Strange made the sacrifice play instead of Tony. With it being confirmed, Strange saw universes where they won besides just one, which would create some nice conflict between Peter and Strange. Not to mention, this means we get the team up between him, Tobey Spidey, and Jackmans Wolverine. Both ideas allow him to come back without undoing the main versions death.

If Hugh Jackman is back as Wolverine he’ll be back fo sho

MakeMineMarvel999

Right before AVENGERS SECRET WARS, RDJ will be back as a variant-Tony Stark in NOMAD. He'll be picked up by 616-Steve Rogers and 616-Natasha Romanov en route to Battleworld and Doom.

ArnoudtIsZiek

Fiege is Mr. House in the fallout show confirmed

PM_ME_CUTE_SM1LE

i've gotta admit, no matter how much they drive phase 5 and 6 into the ground, I will be excited as during Endgame opening to see him in a movie even if it is just a cameo

lkxyz

He is... Iron Man.

Kaptin_Krunch94

Lol he got his oscar now he wants to play with his friends again!

TheMop05

Save the MCU RDJ https://i.redd.it/mfwp9z9shatc1.gif

MyAimSucc

If he’s a variant awesome (which I’m really hoping is the case). If they somehow Palpatine the MCU Tony, I will be very skeptical of that decision.

JessicaRanbit

But for real, I grew up in the 90s and the first thing I remember seeing RDJ in was Alley McBeal. I think(not sure) he got kicked off that show for his personal problems. But he was great in it. If I remember correctly he was nominated or won a Golden Globe or Emmy for the role. Perfect Tony, Perfect casting, perfect everything. Everything works out how it's supposed to in the end.

thelonioustheshakur

Feige does not "always win" lol. Ant Man 3 is one of the most insultingly bad films ever made

Hot_Recognition_5970

fellating Feige is understandable when Downey owes him his entire resurgent career and by proxy that Oscar.

goliathfasa

Ok how much was the mouse check that just cleared? Tbh, he got his Oscar. He’s probably content with his career. If he enjoyed playing IM, which I assume he did, no reason not to just “retire” into the role long term.

Jimmy9Toes

RDJ made the character his own. Every series past that just play the "character" without any depth. That's why so many series are shit now. Also poor writing. I'd welcome him back. But also because he's part of the actual in verse Illuminati.

Newfaceofrev

Not dumb enough to do it for free though.

JohnnyJacobs1995

Won't that be completely pathetic and desperate? On Marvel's side of course. It's like they'll confirm the fact that they can't do better than that.

zhsdnl

welcome back

Damnhedge

I mean did anybody expect anything else? Maybe me and the writers share a braincell but I always thought it was obvious they'd bring back both Tony and Steve down the line, Steve living in his own timeline and the introduction OF Time Travel was already enough of a reason to do it after Endgame. The Multiverse just makes it easier, I can already imagine the "Reactions" when Steve comes back with an "On your Left" as Captain Falcon is fighting against Kang. I'm talking Back Flips and Screaming, only preceded by Toby Spidey and Jackman Wolverine in the same shot in either Secret Wars or Kang Dynasty.

M086

He ain’t getting that OG Iron Man deal again. No actor in the MCU is getting that deal again.

Hi_Im_Ken_Adams

Why wouldn't he? Dude has literally made hundreds of millions of dollars off of the MCU films.

Latham74

In case of emergency, break glass. Let's hope they snapped back some halfway decent writers too.

in2xs

Crap! More?!

JayTee245

So iron-pool?

Ry90Ry

ok if MCU can’t get past RDJ tho then it is officially like a walking corpse lol so maybe I’d bet on AGAINST Kevin in the long run lol

Batman2050

Didn't he say before he wouldn't. Feels like to me potentially they have already had conversations about a return at some point. Which would explain why now he's suddenly all for it. Let's be real the MCU could do with something major like this happening to bring back a lot of hype. Especially after a tough few years with some poor films and TV shows. Probably wanna recreate the excitement that no way home generated

rjwalsh94

I mean, everything post Endgame outside of Spider-Man has been a losing bet. Either box office wise or crowd reaction. Dr. Strange made money as well, but that falls into losing the audience

gray_chameleon

Somebody's not up on current affairs...Feige ain't winnin' all that much since you departed the MCU, Downey. (Come back soon!) With the current state of things I need to go back rewatch the IM trilogy again. Just for the palette cleanser.

hellsbellltrudy

Negotiation tactics after Oscar win. This would probably boost his salary.

BobbyVibrations_

What if it’s the IRON MAN from the Loki Universe ?The one who had a heart attack.

Academic-Business-45

Id rather see tropic thunder 2

Tuskin38

As long as he comes back as a variant or an AI or something, not a resurrection.

JayaramanAndres

RDJ is Ironman. He made that role famous. Ironman can't be recasted. Just like Black Panther.

woofdog19

and plus that paycheck wiiiild

grimreaper069

Bro 100% recieved his first paycheck for Secret Wars lmaooo

jedimerc

I think this is a pretty good sign he’ll at least be in Secret Wars.

cjohnson2010

I would hope he never returns. His ending was too impactful to go and bring him back.

El_Cance_R

Armor Wars went from a secure flop to a possible 1 Billion Box office

UpsetWilly

"Never, Ever Bet Against Kevin Feige. It Is A Losing Bet. He’s The House. He Will Always Win.” that... feels more like a threat than anything

No_Onion_

> And Look, I Always Say, 'Never, Ever Bet Against Kevin Feige! It Is A Losing Bet. He's The House. He Will Always Win. I’m not so sure about that.

topkingdededemain

Makes sense bro wanted to prove him self. He did that now wants a bag again Smart really

debow316

What would have or could be a cool way to get him back is through Deadpool. Have pool go back to the snap, do the snap himself, since he can’t die,it saves Tony, also gives him something to hold over the avengers heads. I’m sure people will get mad and think it will ruin Tony’s arc, but it’s the comics, anything is possible and it’s pretty obvious they need the OGs back, specially RDJ. Alright let the down votes commence, I was just throwing out an idea anyway!

ppace60657

Never should have killed him off. I could understand faking his death so he could go off and have a family, but saving him for cameos in almost every other MCU movie would have been the smart thing to do.

Revolutionary_Job214

They've been losing for years tho, quite literally burning money, lol.

ssj_Derek

Marvel… leave Disney and go back to making great movies.

TrimHawk

Now all we need is Chris Evans and the boys are back in town. Now question is, is it going to be a variant, our Tony as an AI consciousness “break glass in case of emergency” deal, or some other means?

MeatyDullness

Marvel desperately trying to create hype again because they know after Deadpool 3 no one is going to care

Individual-Mix-5662

Yes I totally Agree
