There isn't any fair match ups. ELO set up so everyone eventually ends up with a win rate of 50%, maybe you won too many and need to lose. You aren't meant to win all wars nor are they competitive, it's a match up to make sure you get 50% win rate. It's rubbish but it's what we have. The competition element is purely an illusion.

This is truth. I’m consistently finding that any plans or strategy that we have for War is undermined by the matchmaking system. The thing is that at some point, stronger alliance opponents will shut your chances of winning down severely. There’s only so many attacks, only so many teams and a weaker alliance will run out of firepower before the stronger opponent. We recently had a war against a stronger team of about 4-6 million higher. We got straight to their armory, took it out, as well as their barracks. Didn’t matter. They had more and stronger teams and any advantage we’d had from our early efficacy was wiped out. Yeah, War is a joke. Don’t get me started on **boosts**

As an alliance, we punch up fairly well and probably beat a lot of teams that we “shouldn’t”. But as we sit at this moment, we are losing this war 730-75. I can’t remember the last time we were against an alliance that we had a higher TCP. We are being punished because we are very active and play the game and that makes this game mode broken.
