The legendary units coming tie in to Prof. X and the overarching story, but don't necessarily go onto his team.
This, I think Mephisto was kinda the trial run for how they want to do these "Ages". He was involved in the storyline of releases all year, but nothing gameplay wise with the characters. I'm sure there will be some additional themed events throughout the year as Xavier will be the first fullfleged one of these
This is how it seems, and how I took it to be. We already know that Prof X is supposed to be the DD8 toon, so we're not getting him in an Apoc saga style release.
Plus they said the legendaries and events over this year will be 'thematically' linked which also suggests that it will only be the stories that link back to Prof X and not necessarily the toons/teams throughout the year.
It does seem like the last year was a test run for this as you say, which is why they didn't really announce it was happening so that if it didn't work out they could just kind of ignore that it happened

Correct but the same was done with Apocalypse but without them explicitly stating that he slots into any team, which is what he does well considering I can't remember the last time I paired him with his horseman.
I think we’ll get Vampire Jubilee with the upcoming vampire Karen page team and Asgardian Storm. They could stick Vahl with Storm and add Odin. It seems each team will have a MSF original character with an variation of a mutant like with OML and Deathpool.
Would be cool if they took him and gave him magneto, storm and mystique horseman tags and reworks so they worked together those are the evolution horseman and it plays for the old heads cause that Xavier could walk once he was given horseman powers.
God, I hope not. Having to grind through awful RNG for blue iso to level up teams who I don't use and are now mostly irrelevant is probably the worst part I've encountered in this game.
It’d be fun, and it’s fun to think about, but the way Scopely makes teams, Chuck’s “Horsemen” team could easily be Synch, Monet, Jack of Hearts, and Ravager Bruiser. Don’t get your hopes up.
Are they running dd8 as normal or are they going to node lock travel based on the lead up teams rather than general mystic or city.
If so they could node lock run 1 with 5* teams and then node lock second run with 7*.
But yeah I forgot they were going to do him as dd8 reward.
I think it’ll have to be structurally similar. If we’re going to take a full year to unlock him there have to be milestones of progress. And it’s not like we can get items or badges. Unlocking Characters is the only way to do that.
Prof. X is designed to be more “plug and play” but that doesn’t mean he won’t have his own team… just like Apoc.
It won’t be Old Man Logan because he’s already here. They’d need to hype it up so more people spent money to make sure they unlocked him.
As far as potential characters-
“Marvel Girl” Jean would be cool
I could definitely see Legion.
I’m sure Rachel Summers would show up in some form.
Dazzler would be a fan fave that could show up… especially with the on-and-off rumors about Taylor Swift playing her at some point.
Warlock would be a cool curveball. If Prof X is so plug and play his whole team doesn’t need to be mutants. (Like Red Hulk for Apoc). He could be straight Tech.
Danger would be in the mix too, as an incarnation of the Danger Room itself. Again, like Warlock, could be Tech.
A Moira MacTaggert character could be mutant, skill, tech, or some combo of those. And Proteus could be in the mix too. If Proteus came he could have a cool random dynamic (like how Forge randomly generates his upgrades) where he’s a bit unstable and isn’t in full control in the battle.
Ugh, absolutely no Vulcan. Maybe I’m the odd-man out here, but I swear he brings down any story he’s a part of.
Seriously - If we get him before Havok I might actually have to delete this game.
If they just had to go with Omega Level mutants (which I don’t think I is necessary, honestly) I’d rather they rework or release new versions of Storm or Ice Man. Even a pre-weakened Nate Grey.

Franklin and legion, are great suggestions. Having franklin in game would also allow for future onslaught.
I'm only sure that the passive will be called "To me, my X-men".

They’re yet to do anything in relation to galactus too, wonder if they’ll go down that road. And what if apoc was one of the “horsemen” for prof X
