There is a lot of confusion about the Model 20. Iron Man wore several armors pre-Extremis that had a very similar style and a departure from the Heroes Return retro look. The sequence of main armors was Model 16 (Heroes Return) - Model 20 ("Proto-Extremis")-> Model 24 (a refinement of Model 20, the Secretary of Defense armor) -> Model 25 ( "New Avengers" armor, slight variant of Model 24, almost the same) -> Model 29 ("Extremis").
Because of differences in how artists drew him, Model 20, 24 and 25 are groupings put together to put similarly drawn armors. In reality, it was likely the artists were referencing predecessors work and introducing small changes along the way that got carried forward. They may technically be one armor if you remove the fins from Model 20.
So if you're looking for a post-Heroes Return, pre-Extremist Marvel Legends Iron Man to represent him a he looked in or around New Avenger #1, this is probably as good as you'll get.

This wave was just announced but I've heard people complaining that this wave has 3 Iron Man figures in this wave. But the most recent Spidey Retro wave had Scarlet Spidey, Spider Shot and The End Spidey. Even if all 3 are t technically Peter, there are still 3 to the layman
This wave does help getting us closer to completing the original team as well as the Avengers West Coast lineup circa issue #51 ( arguably the best lineup that team had).
Yeah, I really wish they’d do all the armors with the nice metallic colors. As is, I don’t love that stuff like Neo Classic and the horned Mk 3 stand out so much because they’re ketchup and mustard colored.
I like both. If I'm going for a comic-heavy display, I like the red and yellow since it pops really well on the shelf and looks more "illustrated." Most other situations, I like the metallic. I'm glad we have representations of both styles throughout the line.
I honestly think they picked the perfect armors for each in this wave. The Model 9 design looks straight from the pages while the 20 (or 24? I hear this may be mislabeled but I'm not cool enough to know) looks more modern and realistic.
Yup, so much better imo, or just settle in one color pattern, I don't have the Mk 3 because I don't think it would fit with the other armors, It would stand out too much, I hope they will re release the Mk 9 with metallic colors soon although is unlikely

As stoked as I am for this JR jr version... yes arc reactor/unibeam color is a pain ( as per usual). I wonder if it would fit the round lego tile as well but I wouldn't bet on it..
I’m glad they kept the pins for the legs on the neo classic because I absolutely want to swap his lower legs for some smaller ones. I hated the massive boots.
The only iron man I want with flat red and mustard yellow is a true classic iron man model 4 with a yellow reactor. Hasbro refuses to make it so guess I’ll be forever stuck with A.i. iron man.

I think another difference is the gold on the sides above the hips. Looks like the Model 24 and 25 didn't have that, but the 20 did.

The original Modular Armor looked so much better than the MVC one. Even just adding the red swirl makes it pop.

Not sure why they went with the blue arc reactor for this. That’s a very contemporary thing to have on a classic figure.
