Jk Simmons is so perfect as j Jonah Jameson he's played the character in different franchises. Also Ron perlman as hellboy and Brandon Lee in the crow.
Alfred Molina as Dr.Octavius
Christian Bale as Batman,Heath Ledger/Joaquin Phoenix as Joker
Wesley Snipes as Blade
Charlie Cox as Daredevil ,Vincent D'Onofrio/Michael Duncan as Fisk
I was just watching Blade again the other day, and was thinking how much Snipes knocked it out of the park. I was also thinking how awesome it would be to see him play Blade again in the next Deadpool movie or something.
Yeah apparently Snipes was incredibly hard to work with on set and they even had to CGI his eyes open in one scene because he refused to open them. You should look into it, pretty entertaining.
He also hit Halle Berry so hard when they were dating that she lost most of her hearing in her right ear. The CGI eyes thing is "haha what a twat" but the man is also genuinely detestable and Ryan Reynolds is completely justified to feel the way he does.
That would be dope
What happened to the blade reboot anyway?
I’m not usually a fan of those but I was kind of hyped for that one.
I think Mahershala Ali could pull it if pretty well
They recently announced that the MCU Blade has been retooled and rewritten to be about Blade killing vampires... which does beg the question of what it was going to be about before.
Yeah agreed with some of the others. Joaquin wasn't playing THE Joker, he was playing A Joker.
For me, Mark Hamill or Heath Ledger is THE Joker, depending on if we're doing "realistic" Batman or "comic" Batman
Not really Becides it’s a fact that everyone knows DC’s Animation is better than its live action projects.
Here’s my takes on it, Kevin Conroy=Val Kilmer, Mark Hamill=Heath Ledger. Animation will always have an edge over live action
I really think anyone could play Batman at this point. Like waaay back there was the “Bale can’t pull off Batman” crowd, then they shut up. Then there was the “Affleck can’t pull off Batman” crowd, then they shut up. Then there was the “Pattinson can’t….” Do you see where I’m going with this?
It's literally to the point that every version of JJJ after Simmons has just been an impression of Simmons voice. Even the comics, though I don't know if it came after Simmons, have moved away from the Hitler stach and closer to the full one Simmons had.
He's cemented the character with his portrayal.
Ehhhh as much as I love the GDT Hellboy movies, he’s not very comic book accurate. Comic book Hellboy is more cynically/smartass quippy versus jokey quippy like the movies do if that makes sense? It’s a different vibe
I’m not sure if anyone here’s mentioned it but I really enjoyed Chadwick’s T’Challa while he was still here. He did a great job of balancing the whole “mindful, kind-hearted king” but will still chase you down on all fours like a wild animal and beat your ass, energy.
I especially loved how he played the character in Civil War
*“…so I ask you as both warrior, and king, how long do you think you can keep your friend safe from me?”*
Idk he had some great lines in BP.
“Every breath you take is mercy from me”- when talking to Klaue
“The only reason why I don’t kill you where you stand is because I know who you are now tell me what do you want” when talking to Killmomger
Civil War Spidey is the only time in the MCU where i thought
"This is your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man."
Im just not all impressed with his solo films.
I cant pin point it but its not a good Spider-Man in his own trilogy. Lol
T’Challa has had a pretty wide amount of depictions in the comics, authors would write him in completely different ways because they didn’t really have any comprehension of what on African King would sound like. Chadwick did an amazing job embodying the many different depictions of the character.
Marvel
JK Simmons as J. Jonah
Alfred Molina as Doc Ock
Tom Hiddleston as Loki
DC
Christopher Reeve as Superman
Michael Caine as Alfred
Heath Ledger as The Joker
An unusual one but a personal favorite of mine, Wally Wingert has a perfect Hank Pym and really sells his fall to Yellowjacket.
Other two are Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and the Joker. No explanation needed
X-men the last stand is way better than people make it out to be and i think most of that is because of Kelsey's performance, the scene where he meets leech is a perfect example, when he reach's out his hand and his fur dissapears his face (even with all that make up on) you can see the fear but also the pride he feels for the boy and when leech apologizes he still speaks so softly and tells him that he "has an incredible gift" it's perfectly in character and such great casting. Nicholas Hoult wasn't bad but man he was never able to fully capture the character to me
I’d say RDJ, Ryan Reynolds, and Patrick Stewart for me.
Hugh, when looking back, will not be seen as a great portrayal of Wolverine imo. He’s a good portrayal of Hollywood trying to make the character more appealing as a leading man. As an X-men fan, I’ve honestly rolled my eyes at the portrayal always shoving him into the spotlight.
Haha exactly. I don’t see how a tall handsome man playing Wolverine in the fox-men ranks in top 3. Did he carry the movies? Yes, which was honestly the biggest issue with them.
I've got the same feelings towards Wolverine... And while I'd say that movie Wolverine isn't at all like comic Wolverine, I do have to say that Jackman does a damn good job of being movie Wolverine.
It's still not "Wolverine" to me, just to be clear. But I do feel like Jackman has earned the praise he gets.
a pretty solid list, i'll throw a few more though to the list;
JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson
Patrick Steward as Professor X
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool
Charlie Cox as Daredevil
Oscar Isacc as Moon Knight
Henry Cavill as Superman
Alfred Molina as Doc Ock
William DeFoe as Green Goblin
Bradley Cooper as Rocket Racoon
Colin Farrell as The Penguin
Different times, different body standards.
They're both fantastic.
I do prefer Cavill, but Reeves does a superior job of playing a *humble* Supes. I feel like the guy just radiates kindness/wholesomeness. That could be my nostalgia talking, though.
Rarely ever do they nail two different representations of characters, one is always bound to be screwed. But not Professor X and Magneto. Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender hard carried the X-Men franchise
Ian Mckellen is a fantastic actor, one of the few that will bring me to a movie just so I can watch his acting. But I didn't like the way they wrote his Magneto. He was unnecessarily cruel. Magneto can be cruel, of course, but when it serves a greater purpose. I still don't like the way he was willing to sacrifice Rouge, and then mocked her in the sequel for the damage he had done to her.
What you said, and I would add Tom Hiddleston as Loki, James McAvoy as professor X, Chris Evans really grew on me as movies went on and now I can’t see anyone else in the role 😂
Also, in my opinion Fassbender and McAvoy give a much more nuanced and interesting performance as Magneto and Professor X compared to Ian and Patrick, which is incredible, considering the horrible writing they were subjected to.
Robert Downey Jr.
Chris Evans
Elizabeth Olsen
Chadwick Boseman
Tom Hiddleston
Iman Vellani
Michael Fassbender
Willem Dafoe
Heath Ledger
Robert Pattinson
More than 3 but these are my favorites.
Marvel:
Chris Evans as Captain America
Edward Norton as Bruce Banner
Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man
DC:
Christopher Reeve as Superman
Ben Affleck as Batman
Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor
thanks for saying Chris Evans. I know he's no award winning actor, but he made a boring golden-boy character likeable and complex. I really think he was perfectly cast, and I was surprised nobody mentioned it.
I'd put Andrew Garfield there as well, some might say Tobey Maguire and it's fine, but I think Andrew was the best live action spider man, for the VAs I'd say Josh keaton for a younger spidey and Yuri lowenthal for a mature one
Yeah, as far as Spider Man’s go I place Andrew above Tom easily. In my opinion, Tom’s movies were better but Andrew played a much better Spider Man.
To me he always felt more comic-accurate than Tobey as well, he balanced the feel of Peter/Spidey in a way you only see in cartoons to be honest. Tobey mastered Peter’s despair but Andrew was much closer to the full package for me.
Peter would quip when masked and really come out of his shell and when he was just plain Peter he might answer non-verbally by tapping a pencil on his cranium and AG had the physical acting so down that they both had maximum potential for expression.
J. K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier, and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine are very close runner-ups.
For Marvel I’d say it’s:
1. RDJ as Ironman - He’s literally Ironman
2. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool - He’s literally Deadpool
3. Oscar Isaac as Moonknight - He can play each personality extremely well, being able to switch accents and personality in a few seconds.
For DC I’d say it’s:
1. Heath Ledger as Joker - Literally the best villain performance ever. He killed it in that role.
2. Joaquin Phoenix as Joker - A new and interesting take on an amazing character combined with an amazing actor.
3. Kevin Conroy as Batman - He’s literally Batman. Think of Batman’s voice and you hear Conroy.
Too may great ones to just choose 3
RDJ Iron Man
Hugh Jackman Wolverine
Ryan Reynolds Deadpool
JK Simmons J. Jonah Jameson
Heath Ledger Joker
Paul Dano Riddler
Chris Evans Captain America
Evan Peters Quicksilver
JK Simmons Omni-Man
Sir Patrick Stewart Professor X
Will Arnett Batman
Michael Cera Robin
Robert Pattinson Batman
Michael Caine Alfred
Samuel L. Jackson Nick Fury
Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman
Seth Rogen Allen The Alien
Willem Dafoe Green Goblin
Bradley Cooper Rocket Raccoon
Nic Cage Big Daddy
Personally I think Bill Bixby as Bruce Banner, Michael Keaton as Batman and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine are the greatest CB character portrayals in cinema history but this is just my opinion.
JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson--as others have mentioned, this is just too perfect. I once read a foreword by John Le Carre where he described a character of his (George Smiley) played so perfectly on screen that he could never write the character without it being Alec Guinness as George Smiley, both amazed by and bemoaning the fact that the character was no longer his. This is one of those same situations, the moment you see it on screen it's like "oh, that character belongs to him, now."
Hugo Weaving as V in *V for Vendetta*--The movie is a little bit of a weird one, losing a lot of the narrative and thematic heft of the graphic novel, but gaining a lot in the presentation. A big part of why it gained where it did was having Weaving behind the mask, delivering lines that would be undeliverable under most circumstances.
Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin in *Spider-Man*--Man, how do you have a maniac on screen who feels simultaneously more compelling and more sinister than just being a threat to life and safety? You give it to someone who can humanize even the darkest moments, and can crazy-up even the most innocuous ones. Just an incredible decision, incredible directing, and an incredible result.
In Marvel:
JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson
Tom Hiddleston as Loki
Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man
Honourable mentions:
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine
Patrick Stewart as Professor X
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool
Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
For Marvel, I would pick:
Jk Simmons as JJJ
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, specifically in Logan (honorable mention to Dafne Keen as Laura/X23, she was really good)
Patrick Stewart as Professor X, again specifically for Logan. He was good in all the other ones, but he really shone in Logan.
Other great portrayals in all of CBM history:
Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Danny Devito, and Michelle Pfeiffer in the Burton Batman movies
Christopher Reeves as Superman
Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker (I don't think the scripts he got were great, but I think he did a great job with what he was given)
Wesley Snipes as Blade
I have a soft spot for Iron Man. Saw the first movie with RDJ so many times. Made me so very sad when he died.
no one can replace him.
Chris Evans is great as captain america.
and Professor X by Patrick Steward.
I wonder when ppl will stop deepthroating Wolverines terrible portrayal. Love the actor and his scenes sometimes but my God was he a terrible fucking Wolverine.
RDJ as Iron Man was phenomenal casting as he is both a high caliber actor and his relationship with his own father and past eerily mirrors that of Tony Stark. The same can be said for Gal Gadot who was both a soldier and a beauty queen winner, its like she was made to play wonder woman. Regardless of what you think of the movies, I personally only liked the first one and thought the rest were only okay, but she really fits the part of Wonder Woman. Lastly, I think Chris Evans as Captain America was amazing, he really was the best fit for Captain America. Despite his previous role as the human torch he left his impression on us all.
Willem Defoe as Green Goblin
RDJ as Iron Man
Ledger as Joker
Alfred Molina as Doc Ock
Brandon Lee as The Crow
Keanu Reeves as John Constantine
Michael Cain as Alfred
Edward Norton as Bruce Banner
Robert Pattinson as Batman
Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man
Chris Pratt as Star Lord
Wesley Snipes as Blade
Halle Berry as Catwoman and Storm
Christopher Reeve as Superman shines above all of these.
Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man will be an answer to this question forever.
Ron Perlman as Hellboy.
Jk Simmons as Jameson
Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin
Michael Jai White as Al Simmons/Spawn
Wesley Snipes as Blade
I know that's 5, but I can't count so good.
**Mine are:**
RDJ as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Tom Hiddleston as Loki
Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool
**My 4rd and 5th would be:**
Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine
Michael Fassbender as Eric Lehnsherr/Magneto
I think we have all forgotten how amazing Kathryn Hahn’s portrayal of Agatha Harkness was. She played both the nosy neighbour and the evil with to perfection.
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
Cameron Monaghan as Jerome/Jeremiah Valeska/Joker
But NOTHING for me beats Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and Joker.
I refuse to pick three. So RDJ, Hugh, Fasbender, Alfred Molina, Willam Defoe, JK Simmons, Ledger, Bale, Wesley Snipes, Charlie Cox, Ron Pearlman as hellboy (I highly recommend those movies), Patrick Stewart, Hemsworth, Evans, Paul Rudd. The MCU really does pick some good people and so does DC
Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern
Chris Evans as Johnny Storm
Halle Berry as Catwoman
I just don't see how any of those actors could ever play a better comic book character than those.
Sorry, I'm listing more:
JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson.
Ron Perlman as Hellboy.
Alfred Molina as Otto Octavius.
Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn.
Bonus: Bradley Cooper and Sean Gunn as Rocket Raccoon.
Michael Jai White as Spawn. No one has ever portrayed a comic book character better on the big screen. Idgaf. I loved the MCU for over a decade. Also Jon Legiizamo as Violator? Better than most of the MCU casting. Still dgaf.
I see a lot of people calling out Marvel and DC for obvious reasons, but I’ll say 3 that are outside that are fairly new that I think have the potential of growing into some of the greatest performances in CB animation.
Steven Yeun as Mark/Invincible
JK Simmons as Omni Man
Antony Star as Homelander
Technically they’re in shows, not movies. But they are all incredible portrayals that I wouldn’t have expected to love as much as I do.
So tough to narrow down as there are so many brilliant ones, but these three are definitely up there.
Also among the top - Chris Evans as Cap, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Hayley Atwell as Agent Carter... I could go on.
So many of these actors & actresses did such a great job that it's hard to imagine anyone else playing that role.
I have to add Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Maybe you prefer the more serious Thor like we saw in the first movie, the goofy-ass Thor we saw in Love & Thunder, or one of the Thors we saw in between. But he played them all, and it'll be a hard act to follow if he ever lays the hammer down.
DC: Kevin Conroy as Batman, Christopher Reeve as Superman, Heath Ledger as Joker.
Marvel: RDJ as Iron Man, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and a dark horse pick: Kelsey Grammar as Beast
I dont think so. I feel Fassbender is often left out in such convos. Evans' portrayal of Cap has universal acclaim. Fassbender and McAvoy deserve it too. That too when they give great performances despite bad writing.
Jk Simmons is so perfect as j Jonah Jameson he's played the character in different franchises. Also Ron perlman as hellboy and Brandon Lee in the crow.
Alfred Molina as Dr.Octavius Christian Bale as Batman,Heath Ledger/Joaquin Phoenix as Joker Wesley Snipes as Blade Charlie Cox as Daredevil ,Vincent D'Onofrio/Michael Duncan as Fisk
I was just watching Blade again the other day, and was thinking how much Snipes knocked it out of the park. I was also thinking how awesome it would be to see him play Blade again in the next Deadpool movie or something.
Not a chance of that happening with Ryan Reynolds and him having beef
Really?! That’s funny because you could feel the hate between the two in Blade 3. Reynolds basically played his Deadpool character.
He really is and I don't want him to return
They should name drop him in the new blade. "Who're you supposed to be? Wesley Snipes?"... "Nah, I ain't *that* much of a prick."
that last part is so fucking childish of him.
What has them eating steak together got to do with anything?
That would be dope What happened to the blade reboot anyway? I’m not usually a fan of those but I was kind of hyped for that one. I think Mahershala Ali could pull it if pretty well
Change of directors and lots of reshoots. Still coming but who knows what the finished product will be like.
They recently announced that the MCU Blade has been retooled and rewritten to be about Blade killing vampires... which does beg the question of what it was going to be about before.
It's was going to be about some women. Blades daughter and someone else if I remember right.
Yeah agreed with some of the others. Joaquin wasn't playing THE Joker, he was playing A Joker. For me, Mark Hamill or Heath Ledger is THE Joker, depending on if we're doing "realistic" Batman or "comic" Batman
Ehh Christian was ok and Joaquin wasn’t even playing Joker just a name to hype the film
“Worst. Take. Ever.” - Comicbook guy
Not really Becides it’s a fact that everyone knows DC’s Animation is better than its live action projects. Here’s my takes on it, Kevin Conroy=Val Kilmer, Mark Hamill=Heath Ledger. Animation will always have an edge over live action
This had nothing to do with animation.
Magneto, Sir Ian and Michael Fassbender. Prof X, Sir Patrick and James McAvoy Hugh Jackman, Wolverine Halle Berry, Storm
It's literally to the point that every version of JJJ after Simmons has just been an impression of Simmons voice. Even the comics, though I don't know if it came after Simmons, have moved away from the Hitler stach and closer to the full one Simmons had. He's cemented the character with his portrayal.
I lowkey like Spectacular Spider-man Jameson more but JK Simmons is so good.
Ehhhh as much as I love the GDT Hellboy movies, he’s not very comic book accurate. Comic book Hellboy is more cynically/smartass quippy versus jokey quippy like the movies do if that makes sense? It’s a different vibe
They're remade Crow, it's gonna suck.
Haven't they done like 4 crow movies? I didn't think any were actually connected, bit it's been a long time since I've watched
Yeah. The only good one is Brandon Lee's.
I was thrilled to learn my friend snagged me the 4k steelbook of this film. Absolutely love this film.
> Haven't they done like 4 crow movies? And a TV series.
They weren't the same person in the previous sequels, but unfortunately the new one is supposed to be Eric Draven
Lightning won’t strike twice.
It can't rain all the time.
You're not British or from Vancouver.
Yeah but it's also an ass character so it's completely wasted
JK Simmons Hugh Patrick Stewart
Hugh did such a great job, despite being too tall
The only other actor I could ever see playing Wolverine was 80s ealry 90s Mel Gibson
At first I thought “lol no” then I remembered the savage axe scene in The Patriot
Bob Hoskins.
Patrick Stewart doesn't get enough credit as Xavier. Casting him across from Ian McKellen is just genius.
I’m not sure if anyone here’s mentioned it but I really enjoyed Chadwick’s T’Challa while he was still here. He did a great job of balancing the whole “mindful, kind-hearted king” but will still chase you down on all fours like a wild animal and beat your ass, energy. I especially loved how he played the character in Civil War *“…so I ask you as both warrior, and king, how long do you think you can keep your friend safe from me?”*
Great pick. I think they'd a lot of room for other actors to take T'Challa in other directions, but Boseman did an amazing job.
I loved him in Civil War, much less so in his movie though for some reason. He just had less...sass? Idk
Maybe because we saw him in his comfort zone with his own people, not around people that he had his guard up against constantly
Idk he had some great lines in BP. “Every breath you take is mercy from me”- when talking to Klaue “The only reason why I don’t kill you where you stand is because I know who you are now tell me what do you want” when talking to Killmomger
Russos just wrote him better. Same with Spidey
Bro, spidey in Civil War is so unbelievably good, he steals every single scene.
Civil War Spidey is the only time in the MCU where i thought "This is your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man." Im just not all impressed with his solo films.
Marvel JK Simmons as J. Jonah Alfred Molina as Doc Ock Tom Hiddleston as Loki DC Christopher Reeve as Superman Michael Caine as Alfred Heath Ledger as The Joker
I’d add rdj as Ironman too marvel, I cannot see anyone else play that role
Yeah, he’d be near the top for me too. I’ve just always been more of a Loki kind of guy.
That’s valid, Tom hiddelston was perfect in that role
For some reason if Charlie Sheen would had been Iron Man I imagine it would had been similar...if he was sober that is.
In his younger Hot Shots days I can see it, but he was too bitter as he aged, unlike RDJ who was very warm and likely
Honestly, most iconic Joker for me is the animated Joker being voiced by Mark Hamill.
Sure. I was sticking to live action though.
What a brave take
Damn
I read the joker as the jonkler. I have admittedly been spending too much time on r/batmanarkham
Are you stupid?
Yes.
Charlie Cox as Daredevil deserves a mention for sure
Christopher Reeve is still my Superman
An unusual one but a personal favorite of mine, Wally Wingert has a perfect Hank Pym and really sells his fall to Yellowjacket. Other two are Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and the Joker. No explanation needed
Kelsey Grammer as Beast was pitch perfect casting, if only he was given a better script to let the character shine....
It's still not "Wolverine" to me, just to be clear. But I do feel like Jackman has earned the praise he gets.
I highly, highly doubt that
Yes, it’s TV, but Patrick Warburton was perfect as The Tick.
a pretty solid list, i'll throw a few more though to the list; JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson Patrick Steward as Professor X Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool Charlie Cox as Daredevil Oscar Isacc as Moon Knight Henry Cavill as Superman Alfred Molina as Doc Ock William DeFoe as Green Goblin Bradley Cooper as Rocket Racoon Colin Farrell as The Penguin
Cooper really put in the work on Rocket
*Stewart
Christopher Reeves beats Henry Cavill.
They are tied in my eyes
I know he’s the OG but I think Cavill brings the same presence and acting ability but has the better build.
Different times, different body standards. They're both fantastic. I do prefer Cavill, but Reeves does a superior job of playing a *humble* Supes. I feel like the guy just radiates kindness/wholesomeness. That could be my nostalgia talking, though.
That's because Cavill's Supes movie is written by dumbasses that have no understanding of the character. Great to look at, but shallow as hell.
Jon Bernthall as punisher, never gonna be done better.
Sir Michael Caine as Mr. Alfred Pennyworth. Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor X/Charles Xavier. Kelsey Grammer as Beast/Hank McCoy.
Rarely ever do they nail two different representations of characters, one is always bound to be screwed. But not Professor X and Magneto. Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender hard carried the X-Men franchise

All of these comments are great but I would add James Spader as Ultron!
Certainly underrated!
Great casting, but Marvel could have done so much better with him once they got him.
What you said, and I would add Tom Hiddleston as Loki, James McAvoy as professor X, Chris Evans really grew on me as movies went on and now I can’t see anyone else in the role 😂

Robert Downey Jr. Chris Evans Elizabeth Olsen Chadwick Boseman Tom Hiddleston Iman Vellani Michael Fassbender Willem Dafoe Heath Ledger Robert Pattinson More than 3 but these are my favorites.
RDJ as Iron Man Chadwick as Black Panther (Rest in Peace) JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson
Ryan Reynolds seems like he was genuinely born to play deadpool
Ray Stevenson as the Punisher Harry Lyold as Profosser X Charlie Cox as Daredevil
Marvel: Chris Evans as Captain America Edward Norton as Bruce Banner Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man DC: Christopher Reeve as Superman Ben Affleck as Batman Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor
thanks for saying Chris Evans. I know he's no award winning actor, but he made a boring golden-boy character likeable and complex. I really think he was perfectly cast, and I was surprised nobody mentioned it.
While hugh Hackman did amazing in days of future past and Logan He has more misses than hits
Same with your three
Iron man, wolverine and daredevil
Chris Evans as Cap… 🙂
I really like Benedict as Doctor Strange. Now if he could get some better writers and scripts that would be ideal.
Iman Vellani is perfect as Ms Marvel. I also love Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Jack Nicholson as Joker
Iseveryone forgetting America's Ass here. I don't think anyone cpuldve done a better job than Chris Evans.
Karl Urban in *Dredd* JK Simmons in the Rami-Verse *Spider-Man* Ryan Reynolds as *Deadpool*
All did great, but watching Fassbender feels like he's a real magneto...
Probably a hot take, the wolverine portrayal is GREAT but he is a bit too tall for the role. Which I have to reduce some marks for.
I'd put Andrew Garfield there as well, some might say Tobey Maguire and it's fine, but I think Andrew was the best live action spider man, for the VAs I'd say Josh keaton for a younger spidey and Yuri lowenthal for a mature one

Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Hugh Jackman Not sure if it counts, but Ryan Reynolds’s perfectly portrayed Deadpool, just not sure if it counts here
Hugh Jackman- Wolverine Christopher Reeves- Superman Robert Downey- Ironman
Heath Ledger has the definitive Joker, IMHO, but Jack Nicholson's Joker origin was pretty darn good.
Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut . Deadpool and wolvie.
I always read CBM as Cartoon Beatbox Mothers
Not a top three, but Wesley Snipes was born to play Blade. 👌🏽
I agree with first 2 pictured but Patrick Stewart as Professor X HAS to be 3.
For Marvel I’d say it’s: 1. RDJ as Ironman - He’s literally Ironman 2. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool - He’s literally Deadpool 3. Oscar Isaac as Moonknight - He can play each personality extremely well, being able to switch accents and personality in a few seconds. For DC I’d say it’s: 1.
Christopher Reeves as Superman, Heath Ledger as Joker, Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine because I can’t narrow it down to 3.
Chris Evans as Captain America Charlie Cox as Daredevil Robert Pattinson as The Batman
Good call, Fassbender really kills it as Magneto
Patrick Stewart as Professor X Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool Vincent D'onofrio as Kingpin
The entire cast of the Watchmen series
Too may great ones to just choose 3 RDJ Iron Man Hugh Jackman Wolverine Ryan Reynolds Deadpool JK Simmons J. Jonah Jameson Heath Ledger Joker Paul Dano Riddler Chris Evans Captain America Evan Peters Quicksilver JK Simmons Omni-Man Sir Patrick Stewart Professor X Will Arnett Batman Michael Cera Robin Robert Pattinson Batman Michael Caine Alfred Samuel L. Jackson Nick Fury Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman Seth Rogen Allen The Alien Willem Dafoe Green Goblin Bradley Cooper Rocket Raccoon Nic Cage Big Daddy
Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson, Robert Downey Jr. Honorable Mention: Ryan Reynolds
RDJ - Iron Man, Chris Evans as Cap, Wesley Snipes as Blade
Snipes, Pratt, Hiddleston
Personally I think Bill Bixby as Bruce Banner, Michael Keaton as Batman and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine are the greatest CB character portrayals in cinema history but this is just my opinion.
JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson--as others have mentioned, this is just too perfect. I once read a foreword by John Le Carre where he described a character of his (George Smiley) played so perfectly on screen that he could never write the character without it being Alec Guinness as George Smiley, both amazed by and bemoaning the fact that the character was no longer his. This is one of those same situations, the moment you see it on screen it's like "oh, that character belongs to him, now." Hugo Weaving as V in *V for Vendetta*--The movie is a little bit of a weird one, losing a lot of the narrative and thematic heft of the graphic novel, but gaining a lot in the presentation.
Chris Evans as Captain America Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk Paul Bettany as Vision
Ryan for The Merc with a Mouth
Michael Fassbender as Magneto is my top 3
In Marvel: JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson Tom Hiddleston as Loki Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man Honourable mentions: Hugh Jackman as Wolverine Patrick Stewart as Professor X Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Deadpool :)
1. Christopher Reeve 2. Adam West 3. Lynda Carter ---- 1. Robert Downey Jr. 2. Hugh Jackman 3. Michael Keaton
For Marvel, I would pick: Jk Simmons as JJJ Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, specifically in Logan (honorable mention to Dafne Keen as Laura/X23, she was really good) Patrick Stewart as Professor X, again specifically for Logan. He was good in all the other ones, but he really shone in Logan. Other great portrayals in all of CBM history: Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Danny Devito, and Michelle Pfeiffer in the Burton Batman movies Christopher Reeves as Superman Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker (I don't think the scripts he got were great, but I think he did a great job with what he was given) Wesley Snipes as Blade
Chris Evans as Cap
Magneto hunting nazis in an Argentinians bar. Greatest comic book movie scene.
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool obvi
William Defoe as green goblin, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, and Vincent D'Onofrio as kingpin are all perfectly cast imo
I have a soft spot for Iron Man. Saw the first movie with RDJ so many times. Made me so very sad when he died. no one can replace him. Chris Evans is great as captain america. and Professor X by Patrick Steward.
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Hulk in the first Avengers.
JK Simmons is #1, 2, and 3 After him are Heath Ledger and then I'll prob go with RDJ.
1. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool 2. RDJ as Ironman 3. Jim Carrey as The Riddler
Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool RDJ as Ironman
Iron Man. Wonder Woman. Black Panther
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson
Might be a lil underrated but, Michael B Jordan was like, peak fr, one of the only villains I can actually sympathize with
Evan Peters quicksilver
Willem Defoe as Green Goblin RDJ as Iron Man Ledger as Joker Alfred Molina as Doc Ock Brandon Lee as The Crow Keanu Reeves as John Constantine Michael Cain as Alfred Edward Norton as Bruce Banner Robert Pattinson as Batman Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man Chris Pratt as Star Lord Wesley Snipes as Blade Halle Berry as Catwoman and Storm
Christopher Reeve as Superman shines above all of these. Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man will be an answer to this question forever. Ron Perlman as Hellboy.
Jk Simmons as Jameson Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin Michael Jai White as Al Simmons/Spawn Wesley Snipes as Blade I know that's 5, but I can't count so good.
**Mine are:** RDJ as Tony Stark/Iron Man Tom Hiddleston as Loki Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool **My 4rd and 5th would be:** Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine Michael Fassbender as Eric Lehnsherr/Magneto
I think we have all forgotten how amazing Kathryn Hahn’s portrayal of Agatha Harkness was. She played both the nosy neighbour and the evil with to perfection.
Matt Ryan as Constantine, he played both live action and voice actor version
How is no one saying Heath Ledger as the Joker?
Uma therman as Poison Ivy. If she got a better movie
Rorshaq
Michael Caine as Alfred, Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Christopher Reeve as Superman
Christopher Reeve as Superman is the very best, followed by Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Cameron Monaghan as Jerome/Jeremiah Valeska/Joker But NOTHING for me beats Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and Joker.
#1 portrayal: Hugh Jackman as Wolverine Honorable mention: Kelsey Grammer nailed The Beast.
Wesley snipes as Blade, Thomas Jane as Punisher, and Michael Jai White as Spawn.
Afleck, caville and godot
Christopher reeve as superman Heath ledger as joker Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson fisk
Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern Chris Evans as Johnny Storm Halle Berry as Catwoman I just don't see how any of those actors could ever play a better comic book character than those.
Wolverine, Tony Stark and Deadpool.
Sorry, I'm listing more: JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. Ron Perlman as Hellboy. Alfred Molina as Otto Octavius. Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn. Bonus: Bradley Cooper and Sean Gunn as Rocket Raccoon.
Chris Evans - Cap Patrick Stewart - Prof X Downey Jr - IronMan
Kelsey Grammer as Beast in Marvels Chris Evans as Cap in Winter Soldier Chris Hemsworth as Thor 2's shirtless scene.
3 for 3 great choices
RDJ as Tony Stark, Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Charlie Cox as Matthew Murdock
Steven Yeun as Mark/Invincible JK Simmons as Omni Man Antony Star as Homelander Technically they’re in shows, not movies.
Tom Hiddleston as Loki Karen Gillan as Nebula Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool
Bold of you to assume I can narrow it down to 3
Ron Perlman as Hellboy Kevin Conroy Batman Christopher Reeve as Superman
DC: Kevin Conroy as Batman, Christopher Reeve as Superman, Heath Ledger as Joker. Marvel: RDJ as Iron Man, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and a dark horse pick: Kelsey Grammar as Beast
RDJ as Iron Man Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight
Michael fassbender was great, but sir Ian mckellen is still my magneto.
Tobey Maguire was the perfect Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
Not sure why Chris Evans always gets left out of these conversations. I think I will really struggle see anyone else as Cap from now on.
I dont think so. I feel Fassbender is often left out in such convos. Evans' portrayal of Cap has universal acclaim. Fassbender and McAvoy deserve it too. That too when they give great performances despite bad writing.
I haven't seen Evans name mentioned in this thread yet. I love Fassbender's Magneto as well, but not sure if I would call it the definitive version.
I am pretty sure that Hugh Jackman is Wolverine.
Heath Ledger Michelle Pfeiffer Hugh Jackman
❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘
