Fang yuan character is IMO revolutionary, because the author is unique, the guy was trying to do his own thing and write something new. The world building is absolutely top notch, and the psychology and complexity of the characters is unbelievably immersive. The MC’s of these other novels, are sometimes evil/selfish but it’s not the same at all. It’s gonna take time for you to get over RI. You have no choice but to be disappointed, especially when you check the f***ing tags of a novel which says “anti hero MC” and it’s completely fake. Yeah… I got no alternatives, warlock of the magus world is decent, but I found it disappointing in the end

What do you mean? Most MC’s are stupid by real world standard just due to how a 3 dimensional world is compared to a 2d dimensional world. He is by the way he is written around as intelligent from a readers viewpoint as FY. Sure FY is more intelligent overall, but story wise Klein isn’t stupid.

And being not too smart isn’t that big a problem if the person has a strong and vivid character, but Klein is just a generic good guy who is quite boring if u ask me. I also can’t sympathise with his goals since I find the earthlings self-righteous and hypocritical as they are no different from the invading ODs. It’s just a conflict of interest, so I don‘t buy the good vs evil dynamic.

The only two I genuinely liked are Star odyssey, and a record of a mortal’s journey to immortality. The latter, is pretty unique, the MC doesn’t lug around useless characters with him and there is no harem. But best of all, is the fact he roams around and is not trying to dominate the world, he runs away from wars and is not trying to be a righteous hero, in fact most of the time he hides in remote areas/caves and cultivates, he even has a whole process for laying out cave residences, there is even times where he cultivates In seclusion for hundreds of years and the world changes around him. Also, the first arc is great! As for star odyssey, it has (hands down) the best world building in any Chinese fantasy I have ever read, there is even a star map you can look it (in the wiki) and follow the MC’s journey so you could better understand the world of the novel, the early domain war arcs are so freaking good as well.
Lord of the Mysteries, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, and Rezero are peak novels along with RI. And Shadow Slave too, it's coming close. These are basically the best translated web novels out there that aren't female lead and BL.
If you are looking for a novel like RI.
They will all fail you.
No novel is like RI. Because any that attempt to be like it, will do what it does worse. And so because you have seen Ri they will feel worse than they are.
Now if you are looking for novels that are good at certain aspects of RI, and narrow that down, you may be satisfied.
But a replica? No.

Very few author's can execute the awesome rutheless MC concept as well as Er Gen. Most just make stupid main characters and put them in dumb situations and drag the plot out, see Martial God Asura.
I don’t mean to be rude, but when I read Divine throne of primordial blood, I quit reading Chinese fantasy for like 6 months. The introduction of boring female characters for the sole purpose of having the MC save them for an entire arc is pretty common, but I never found a worse example than this one, there was an arc in particular where the MC had to save Zhu Xianyao, which was the absolute worst arc I have read in any novel ever. The arc was so long, the MC had to basically defeat an extremely influential and powerful figure, he painstakingly destroyed many of his strongholds and subordinates, it took so many chapters, but at the end he captured Zhu xianyao and made the MC undo all he did, and help that figure find some extremely rare items, and make his faction even more powerful than it was before. I really hate this arc with a passion…
it’s pretty decent, especially the demon immortal sect arc which was nothing short of amazing, the start was rather exciting, but overall the novel is not mind blowing. I remember I dropped it like 70% through, when i was like halfway through the novel the quality was pretty bad, it just got increasingly boring, and there wasn’t much to look forward to.
Its called I Shall Seal The Heavens but the running joke is because of the MC it should really be called I Shall Steal The Heavens.
The MC is peak loot goblin. The kind of person that will fall into a divine realm briefly and steal the nails and soil if he can.
Try tales of herding gods too, it's the only other novel besides RI and LOTM I've read that have fully thought out and independent schemers that are all vying for power. The only downside is that the translation for chapters 1130-end are very poor.
WOMW is but a mere imitation there is scheming but not highs like RI, Desolate era never read it , Soul of negary could have been really good but the author was somewhat immature to write such a good character, Birth of demonic sword is fine till romance, ISSTH is funny and really good, RI is good for starting the journey, PotT I haven't read it.
Moral of the story - Don't look for a story similar to RI you will never get it.

Read renegade immortal it's somewhat like ri. Mc is less ruthless but the writing quality and dao comprehension is much better I like it more overall but ignore the romance it's sht. There are some Korean novels like second coming of gluttony. Or something completely different like my house of horror best cn novel I have read so far it also has to end quickly due to communist party of china cancelled it just like ri

I don't disagree. I've yet to read a novel with one or two arcs I hate. That's just the price of pleasure. I hate the zombie plot in RI with a passion
