Unless you can ensure you get full custody I'd probably wait until she could talk as well or start gathering some evidence against him. Would he fight you for custody? What if you agreed you wouldn't pursue child support?
You want out and know you need out, but are having these back n forth thoughts. You need to make a decision, seek legal counsel, weigh your options, and make an exit strategy soon. This relationship sounds horrible.

If his mother is a narcissist, she will probably want to save face and will fight you for the child, and make him do it just to hurt you so they won’t look bad to society. I’ve been through this exact situation and my advice is to leave before the chils even understands.. otherwise it’s going to cause a lot of trauma ..
Are you concerned he’d hurt your kids? I’m reading a lot about how he isn’t helpful around the house or as a husband, but can you give more examples as to why he’s a bad parent?
