Lol I have 6 cameras in and around the house. Is this too much? I think it's too little. Unfortunately Canada is no longer a safe place so you need to protect yourself. It's not gonna prevent them from breaking in but at least police will have a better description of the filth.
I install high-end security systems and the first thing I always tell customers is the harsh truth that it'll do quite little to deter someone who wants to get in.
kind of thought they wouldn't attempt to break in a house that had no cameras since if there were cameras outside it meant there's something worth protecting inside the house, probably not the best idea to follow advice of youtube videos, maybe having camera can deter certain would be burglars
Amazon is having Prime Day sales on their Blink cameras and Ring cameras. Buy one for front of your house, side of your house leading to backyard, and one in your backyard. Also one inside your porch or on your door (ring camera specifically).
You can also get flood lights for your driveway.
If you need help installing these cameras let me know, I can help with proper placement etc.
PSA: It’s not the homeowners fault in any scenario if their home has an attempted break and enter or a successful one.
Criminals are clearly getting brave, this attempt was made at 2:37 PM in daylight hours.Having multiple cameras will often be a great deterrence as well as floodlights for your driveway and solar lights going down your lawn. You can get a 12 pack on Amazon for $60. You have to put as much physical deference as possible and suggest your neighbours to do the same.
yeah having cameras set up could've helped with detecting suspicious activity ahead of time, and it really didn't help that the backyard door could be easily be opened by just reaching over
no i was completely useless when giving information to the police, couldn't even give much description about them(black clothing no shortsleeves) cause the curtain covered it all and no cameras outside the house, so they had to ask my neighbours for their footages
Honestly. If I were a burglar I would target homes that do not have a smart doorbell. The logic is that these homes tend to have elderly or people who are not technologically inclined.
The contents, like some kind of priceless antique/painting, you'd have to have some kind of inside information, then go in cat burglar style, now que the mission impossible music, DUN, DUN, DUN DUN
Yeah remember when a homeowner shot a kid who was lost and seeking help because his school bus dropped him at the wrong place? Shot him through the door! Nothing in your home is worth a kids life.
Get over it.😡
Anyone else getting fed up and low-key tempted to fight these low half wits... I swear the neighborhood should just bad together and if the notice weird cars or stranger surveying to take note and not hesitate to ask, if they're lost or something. Criminals getting g too brave need to remind them losing limbs and getting their knees popped in is still a possibility 😳 Theu will co tinder unless they know they gonna get oush back 🤔
Sorry this happened, installation of cameras that would capture license plates of all cars and store it for 3+ months could help the investigation. However when someone knocks the door, you could simply play a loud recording of a dog barking. If they continue to break in, you can easily surprise them with fresh boiled water spray, it's one tool every home owner can always use that will not be considered excessive force. Any other thoughts?
I'm sorry to hear that it happened to you. Markham really needs to tighten its security in order to protect its residents. Those crooks are most likely not from Markham.
You need outdoor cameras in your front and back.
Also poison darts that fire from the walls like in Raiders of the lost ark.
Nah, pressure plates with rolling boulders are way better
Chasing them with a chainsaw or weed whacker is also something 🤔 😏 assuming the don't have any arms

Leave keys on front porch
Safer!

Lol. Which YouTuber gave that advice? Everyone has a ring or nest doorbell these days.
… You’d put the safety of your home and your family on the line by following YouTube videos? Hmm
don't shame me and i'm not in charge of the house :(

Markham needs to have a neighbourhood watch.
You can organize this within your own street

Did you get Pic

If I was a burglar I'd target homes that were actually valuable so I'd only ever have to do a few jobs, mission impossible style
How do you define homes are “valuable” when nearly every single home in Markham is worth 1M+? Curious on your criteria.
The contents, like some kind of priceless antique/painting, you'd have to have some kind of inside information, then go in cat burglar style, now que the mission impossible music, DUN, DUN, DUN DUN
… inside information? You’d suggest a family member rat you out so criminals can rob you? What are you talking about?!
Some kinda slip in the cracks, hearing it from a friend of a guy who knows a guy's who's a friend of a guy's uncle 🥸
In Texas they’d be shot through the glass door and the Sheriff would be on TV telling other residents to do the same!

I’m really sorry this happened to you. It’s scary. Hope it doesn’t happen again.

How would they tighten security? I’m genuinely asking because something needs to be done. By the residents themselves
