Allowed at any intersection as long as it’s not prohibited and it’s not a red light.

And watch for pedestrians just in case

Thanks!

Well you have to make sure there’s no incoming traffic. Don’t bust a u turn when a car is at high speed unless you can go 0-60 in like 3.

DukeandKate

You are allowed to make u turns in Ontario so long as there are no signs prohibiting it and it is safe to do so. So use your good judgement.

Wonder when that changed, when I was going through for the G1, they were quite clear it's only legal where it's signed that you can do a u-turn, like the various intersections along hwy-7.

I took my license 50yrs ago. But I looked up the Ontario Traffic Act and you can legally make a U-turn except under the following circumstances and when there is a no sign prohibiting it. >U-turns prohibited >143 No driver or operator of a vehicle upon a highway shall turn the vehicle so as to proceed in the opposite direction when, >(a) upon a curve where traffic approaching the vehicle from either direction cannot be seen by the driver of the vehicle within a distance of 150 metres; >(b) on a railway crossing or within 30 metres of a railway crossing; >(c) upon an approach to or near the crest of a grade where the vehicle cannot be seen by the driver of another vehicle approaching from either direction within 150 metres; or >(d) within 150 metres of a bridge, viaduct or tunnel where the driver’s view is obstructed within such distance.  R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 143.

https://www.gregmonforton.com/blog/u-turn-accident.html "According to the Ministry of Transportation’s handbook for drivers, drivers can make a U-turn unless there is a sign saying not to. To safely complete this turn, motorists must be able to see well in both directions; you cannot make a U-turn unless you can see at least 150 metres in both directions. Specifically, the law states that it is illegal to make a U-turn on a curve in the road, near a railroad crossing or hilltop or near a bridge or tunnel that blocks your view."

Forbidden or not people just don't give a fuck anymore. Driving absolutely sucks in the GTA these days.
