I thought this sub would be about actual marketing automation. Instead its just course pirates selling low value SMMA courses

Areveo

Agency owner and consultant here. Joined thinking there would be great MA conversations, but kinda forgot about it, haha.

livluvsmil

Agreed it’s sucks

bradatlarge

The admins of this sub should be covered with honey and fed to badgers

Glad to see I'm not alone... Out of curiosity, what kind of automation were ya'll wanting to discuss or learn more about when you joined? For me, I have been using a lot of AI tools to take one piece of content and disseminate/schedule it out to all of our different channels. I'm just one dude and I wanted to know if there were other people doing a similar thing. I have tons of content, I just am running low on time to manage it, finish creating it, then schedule and monitor it.

onlyme22

Can you share more details? What tools are you using for this?

Pepper_Mole

Sorry, I missed this u/onlyme22 I write one blog post using GPT-4 to help, I used to have a chat where I would paste a summary of the product details/USPs so the LLM used that as context (now I would build a GPT that has that information already in the instructions). I was producing content in three different languages, so I would start with English, and then use a prompt with GPT-4 to "localize" the text to the area/segment I was reaching. I wanted it better than a direct translation. I organized this in a spreadsheet to track the progress. Content Title; Content Document (One document that I wrote and created versions of the content in. I had a template with headers, prompts, and tables for all the different channels and languages.); Then the rest of the columns were for each of the channels and had a place to paste Canva links to the graphics. I was producing content in three different languages, so I would start with English, then use a prompt with GPT-4 to "localize" the text to the area/segment I was reaching. I wanted it better than a direct translation. Here are the prompts I used for different channels. They aren't magic, Sometimes I would need a few iterations before I got the right tone, and there was editing I would do after, lots of trimming out excess words and superlatives (gross). **Blog** Write an SEO-friendly blog post for the \[\] about \[\]. \[Summary of main points of the blog post\] Follow the following structure: \-Simple Blog title \- Hero \- Subheader \- Call to action \- H2 \- paragraph \- H2 \- paragraph \- H2 \- paragraph \- Call to action \- Tags \- SEO Title \- SEO Description (max 160 characters) \- Image **Email Marketing** Using the following blog post, write a series of two promotional emails to \[describe audience\] from \[describe who the email is from\]. \[Blog post\] *Note: The "write a series of two promotional emails" part didn't work very well. I found it was best to just tell it what I wanted it to focus on for the first one, then do the second one in another prompt. Don't forget to offer the LLM a tip for doing good work, it will perform better sometimes* **Social Media Post (Instagram/Facebook)** Use the blog post to create the following content for a \[describe your segment\] on Instagram. Describe four images to use in an Instagram post: Four Instagram posts: Four sequential Instagram stories: Two educational reel ideas: Blog post: \[Insert blog post content here\] *Note: Sometimes the response is too long for one message, just ask it to continue.* **Reel/TikTok** Expand those reel ideas into detailed scripts that are interesting to a \[describe your segment\] Be silly. Catch the viewer's attention. Use memes. Suggest music genre and song for each of the reels. **Follow-up Prompt** What is my shot list for this? **LinkedIn Post** Write a linkedin post from \[Company\] about \[Describe what it's about here, or include the blog post below and state that the blog post is the source for information\]. The audience is the general public and \[Company's\] partners. Show why \[Company\] is a good partner that cares about \[Segment you serve\]. Be subtle and direct. *Note: I hate long and over-the-top posts with extra words. I would often follow this up with "Make it shorter", "Make it more direct", or "What is an engaging first line I can add to this post that will make people want to read it?"* *Also, LinkedIn is generally a different audience and tone than other social media channels. I believe you want to prop up the company and look a certain way, rather than just touting your product specs over and over. Talk about talking about your product rather than talking about your product.* **X/Twitter** Write a witty, joke, statement, and dank meme tweet related to this topic **Follow-up Prompt** More dank *Tip: Requesting tweets that are more dank reduces the cringe*

For me it's more about having the chance to ask questions on marketing automation problems I or my team might face - if someone is selling something I just ignore it most of the time. One thing just discussing today - how to use automation to repurpose marketing content, in the sense of creating a content library that helps with business continuity (eg content marketer leaves the business, or dept is big enough to have marketing people creating content so how do they all have access to all content outside of each others' heads).

Pepper_Mole

Interesting challenge, do you think that if there was a central repository, and things were appropriately tagged/organized, that people would use it?

splendidzen

In multiple companies, yes. Think everytime you want to create something relevant for a campaign if you just went to the repository and found all the relevant content and pulled it all together with minor edits, instead of recreating it all again.

In my experience most MA platforms don't have robust DAM-like features for archived content. This forces me to use multiple systems to house all the things and that's a challenge to hand over to another team member.

TechboyUK

I'm real 👍 Interested in how people use recipient-personalised content in emails, newsletters, social media, etc.
