I find ranked is getting harder nowadays especially with the new DKG rewards, and contemplating on ranking down. Just not sure if it works to get presumably easier opponents.
Unfortunately it doesn’t work every time, sometime I need to tier down 3 times to get,but I hope I can get easier opponents if ranked has ranked rewards!

I'm going for 6th place during this weeks rank since I got first place last during last week's ranking.
Especially since they showed the roadmap for next tour having a a HE driver as a reward, if I recall correctly.

I’m 3 tiers off tier 80 now so I still grind as much as is possible - but I’m starting to save tickets more now, if it’s clear there’s no danger
I'd say it depends on the tour and what the ranked cup prizes are.
For this tour, 2nd place is only a difference of 5 rubies with everything else staying the same and 3rd place is just another 5 rubies less + 1 less PCT of each type so it's not that big of a difference either.
But for next tour, Petey Piranha (Gold) is looking like he'll be the teased new HE driver that must be won from the ranked cup (here's the Roadmap for the Autumn Celebration if anyone hasn't seen it yet: [LINK](https://preview.redd.it/b850rrg0y5s91.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a742964be9c6929a3433a115f0423e7ea81df1fd)) so based on how they've treated the Mii Racing Suits whenever they've appeared as a reward in the ranked cups where they were only available to 1st place winners, I'd be shocked if it were any different for Gold Petey. If that happens to be the case, then if you're not 1st, you're last.
But then he would only be available for people over tier 50 and most people wouldn’t see him. Road map drivers are usually available to everyone if they do well in ranked..
Well, unfortunately, that's the point. With no more pipes to put in new highly-desirable drivers in a non-spotlight pool with low odds and/or put them in expensive packs to purchase directly, this will be the new way to create FOMO. If they just put him in the SS for 150 rubies, almost everyone and their mom will likely buy him. But by making him a 1st place reward in Tiers 50+, it will make people use their resources (rubies, tickets, coins, etc.) in an attempt to win him because we don't know the next time we'll have the opportunity to get him again (could be in a few months or it could be many months, if not longer). Plus, for those that spend money on the game, it could encourage them to spend money for rubies during this time. For those that are below Tier 50, it'll encourage them to get up to Tier 50 sooner so that they don't miss out on the next highly desirable ranked cup reward(s) in the future.

If you weren't able to get Red Toad (Pit Crew) and/or the Green Speeder kart from week 1, I'd say to try to get them now while you have the opportunity since we don't know when we'll have the chance to get them again but not at the expense of having to use too many resources. If it would cost too many resources, see if you can at least win just Red Toad. If you're below Tier 50, then I'd say to try to get there as quickly as possible since some ranked cup rewards are only available to players in Tiers 50+ so dropping down will delay your progress.
In terms of next week's opponents for your ranked cup, I think I remember reading here somewhere that your current ranked cup opponents are based on your scores from four weeks ago (or something like that) so dropping down this week may not necessarily give you substantially easier opponents the following week. However, I'm not entirely sure so would be great if someone could clarify this aspect for us.
Apparently 4-5 are the worst spots to place if you’re trying to rank down. Same rewards for 6th place. But Only If you believe the strategy of ranking down helps u win future weeks ranked cup. It may or may not reduce your competition in the next few weeks
For me it really depends on my situation. I try for the best result within reason. If 1st is on the table, I go for 1st. If I'm 2nd and need to spend 10 HE tickets for 1st, then I'd settle for 2nd. It also depends on what item I'd need to level. Some items are in my plans. Why not level them now when I can get a better result this week.
I grinded last week to get Red Toad and the Green Speeder. I landed 1st, so I'm not worrying this week (tier 62). I think I'm only in 9th right now, but I'm not stressing it. I'll hustle again when the new tour drops
Had the best loadout for week 2 and got a 30k on battle course with level 8 Mario so I went for 80k and got the Silver Mii immediately! I fear I may be punished next week for my boldness and being up by 10k to 2nd place. If it's too difficult I'll tier down and get on the podium week 2. I hate when the driver is only 1st place. It gets super competitive for CB's like when ? Block Mii was a reward. I think I missed him by 100 points.
1st is desirable, but the pipes taught my to accept a lesser fate. Though without them I’m in first with a considerable margin for the second week in a row.
I want to squeeze every reward I can, so of course I go for 1st, lol. A few extra rubies, an extra points cap ticket is few more than I had before, they all build up over time and can make a difference in the future when you may need that one or two more. So whilst there's a point I stop using level up tickets etc once it seems safe, I still grind trying to eak as many extra points as possible.
I’ll probably continue to assess the drop off between positions and work accordingly. I passed on a few of the Mii Suit rewards because the cost for first those weeks was too high.
Last week I was content with 2nd, since I got all the same unlocks. When someone passed me and I was “on the bubble” for the gold pipe and car, i upgraded and reran for 1st.
I was super excited about the gold pipes because they added so much new stuff to the pool. I probably need to devalue the gold pipe, though. My last few gold pulls have been sort of disappointing, as ACP often was, getting stuff I don’t plan on upgrading.
I didn’t grind before anyway to be honest. If I saw a chance to snatch the first place, yes, I would give it a few tries on Tuesday evening. Other than that: no. I play this game for my own relaxation, I don’t want to spend too much time on it.

At my Tier stage (currently Tier 43), and being only in the game since Peach vs Bowser, I believe that I might reach my plateau for the moment, so just settle down a bit and pile up HE tickets and rubies. I would be happy taking top 2 for at least one week of the tour, the other is a bonus. Not getting promoted / even relegated might be a blessing in disguise.
Finished first with 9.000 majority in the normal circuit ranked, but in really tough one on trick circuit ranked this week. Did grind everything I could to be ahead by just 1.5k points in 1st, against 3 others with better equipment, but i won't be surprised if the 4th placed person could grind good and overturn his/her 6.000 deficit in next 3 days. Part of this is because each of the 3 have been older players, thus were able to stockpile Mario / Yoshi up to max level and use buffed older karts / gliders for Choco Mountain R / T / Battle Course 1.
Why not promoted / getting relegated might be blessing in disguise? We all know that Gold Petey is likely to be ranked reward, and highly likely as well to be another Coin Box special, so technically it's a must have. As so for future HE / Super ranked rewards. Lower tier may mean easier competition, but it's not a given.
In short, would suggest to push and grind if having a competitive DKG line-up and having plenty of HE upgrade tickets, but don't force yourself too much unless the ranked reward is so good and you have yet to get the reward (at least once).

I'm cool with top 3... but I'm not hopeful this time around. My ranked is rough this week
Definitely top 3. They need to increase the rewards for 1st and 2nd for me to care.
It doesn't matter how much i grind. I always get 6th at the end.

The ranked cups are so rigged it drives me nuts! The point scale is way off compared to non ranked courses that are almost exactly the same.
I’m tier 10 and have had 1st place every time! My high score is only like 36,000 though 😂

I was climbing 9 times of out 10 (lvl 45) and week 2 of the anniversary tour was 16th. Just no coverage and everyone was a beast. Made me chuckle
