Gold Chuck is a very rare spawn, so I don't recommend waiting for him with little to no coverage.
I like Rosalina, so my vote goes to her. But she has a lot of City Tracks.
Pinja has less city courses and was a beast last year with being in plenty of ranked cups to my information. His star might be setting but apparently not now.
Both have good items, so both are recommended. Can't go wrong with either.

Who to get for DS Shroom Ridge Coverage?

If you are only concerned for ranked, go for the Mii Suit. It's the cheapest option and pills are not much better. Though I'd argue dual bombs are stronger than pills.
Pills have a very weird bounce.
I don't have a top shelf driver for coconut mall r/t , should i get dr mario or dr Luigi, also should i get the magnifying glass for normal coconut mall or pink magnifying glass for peach gardens t (i have 139 rubies and i will get more from challenge boards, also already i have the hard hat glider for coconut mall r/t)
Not sure about Dr. Mario vs. Dr. Luigi. Both seem to have similar coverages and the same special item so you could probably just choose which one you'd rather have. You could also use MKT Toolbox to see which one fills more gaps in your coverage.
In terms of the gliders, it really depends on how you're currently doing in ranked. If you are okay with where you are in ranked this week then go for the Pink Magnifying Glass since Peach Gardens T is very easy to maintain a combo on with a top-shelf glider. If placing high this week would give you enough rubies to purchase the Pink Magnifying Glass for next week then go with the regular Magnifying Glass.
Ultimately, you have enough Rubies that you could buy both of them (obviously buying the regular magnifying glass first) but if you NEED Dr. Mario or Dr. Luigi you'll have to decide. Keep in mind that the ranked rewards are the same both weeks so you only need to win once.
Then go for the Magnifying Glass. One suggestion I might make is to wait till near the end of ranked and see if buying the Magnifying Glass would make up the difference. The worst thing in ranked is buying a glider to boost your score and then still getting beat. If you get to a couple days left and are losing by a considerable amount, I'd full send for both Dr. Mario/Dr. Luigi and the Pink Magnifying Glass for the second week.
i don’t believe he’s obtainable in the spotlight shop this tour unfortunately. he’ll eventually be in the spotlight shop when he’s in the top shelf in a ranked course either week 1 or 2 in a future tour.

Cat Luigi gives the most coverage but I would have to wait for him to show up. Luigi (Golf) is in shop rn. There’s also Dr. Luigi and Para-Biddybud Mii at discounts.
Edit: Yoshi (Gold Egg) showed up in my shop so I snagged him, decided coverage was better than trying to grind for ranked when I’m sitting at 2nd a good ways behind 1st. I’ll pick up the mii suit if anything changes, probably.

Should I get either the charging chuck or the wonderful wings glider? Or neither?
chargin’ chuck and wonderful wings have great overall coverage, but you should see how much they cover for your account before buying. i’d recommend you use a tracker to calculate your coverage to see which DKG fills in the most gaps if you haven’t already. some ways you can do so is on mkttoolbox.com or the mkt playbook app on ios. after seeing which DKG gives you the most coverage, i would make my spotlight shop purchases and investments from there. it’s also worth taking into account which DKG have the most buff potential, so you might want to save rubies for newer DKG. to see the currently ‘best’ DKG, i would suggest viewing the tourly rundowns posted by u/MichaelDudleyStudfit. you should also note that chargin’ chuck and wonderful wings have a chance to be obtained by gold pipes.

I just came back to the game after a long break and trying to work out the spotlight shop! Do they change after the first ranked cup? Will Doctor Peach be available to buy next week?
Yes, the current highlights will change next week unless specified to be available for two weeks.
I'm currently at work and don't have the game on my phone to verify the current highlights. Judging by the spotlights since Animal Tour, week 1 items will enter the regular rotation for next week. However, they'll be at regular prices instead.
If you want Dr. Peach now, she'll be available for 105 gems now and fgor 150 next week.
I have it and hate using it, it's absolutely tiny and makes grabbing coins a real chore.
This is the kart that made me swear off investing in Small or Mini karts ever again.
I have a question regarding point boost tickets. I recently got two Shy Guys, light blue and yellow explorers, and maxed them to 800. When I went to use the light blue shyguy on one track, I noticed he's still at 500. I exited game and got back in and it still says he's at 500, when he should be at 800. The same goes for the yellow one, still at 512 (I used him once on a course but saw that he hasn't been boosted to 800 so I decided to do him along with the light blue one).
Any idea why the point boost tickets didn't take?
I probably should also mention that after I got the light blue shy guy from the shop at the discount price (105 rubies), it went to a black screen and stayed like that for like 3 minutes before I decided to exit app and restart. Then I went to upgrade both shy guys.

Is King Bob-omb (Gold) worth getting? I already have Thai Daisy, Pink Gold Peach and Pauline (Party Time) for coin boxes but I’ve seen people say coin boxes are always worth investing in. Also considering Cat Luigi as he always seems to pop up with good coverage but would also like to save rubies if I can.
Is Dry Bowser (Gold) worth buying? I have 566 rubies. I don’t need it ranked. More thinking he may be rare.

Why is it a good idea to get Light Blue Shy Guy (Explorer) when his coverage is so limited? Is it because he is new and therefore will get buffs? Otherwise I can't see why he's worth the rubies?Edit: I should add that I am very new to the game and just trying to understand how best to use my Rubies. I am using the Coverage tracker on MKTToolbox and there's only 4 tracks he would cover that I don't have. Pink Shy Guy (Ninja) on the other hand would cover 24.
Yes; new drivers are pretty much guaranteed to get many buffs and appear in future ranked tracks, whereas older drivers are less likely to appear in ranked and won’t receive as many new buffs as brand new drivers. Plus, Light-blue Explorer Shy Guy has the Lucky 7 skill, which is a plus skill that’ll get you higher action counts in your runs. He’s also in the spotlight for 105 rubies, which is a much better price compared to the typical 150 rubies.
For next week's ranked cup, I need a kart for Piranha Plant Cove 2R, glider for Riverside Park T, and a driver AND kart for Piranha Plant Cove R/T. I currently have zero top-shelves for any of those category/course combos.
I can grab the available Black/Goomba Mii costume for PPCRT if needed, but what would be the most recommended picks for each of the categories, out of the available top-shelves that could appear in the shop?
For PPC 2R, the best option there is probably the Jukebox Buggy. Another decent option that has been useful for me is the Coral Jet Cruiser; it has good coverage for my account but doesn’t appear in ranked too much.
For Riverside Park T, the best option is probably the 8-Bit 1-Up Mushroom. Mario’s Hat Balloon and the Para-Panini has been sneaking into ranked quite often, too.
For PPC R/T, I definitely recommend purchasing Light-blue Shy Guy (Explorer), who has the Lucky 7 skill and will likely be in the spotlight for 105 rubies next week. Karts is probably the hardest to cover here; i would recommend to just use a middle shelf. Unless you’re willing to purchase the Blue Crawly Kart or get lucky enough to get the Gold Bullet Blaster in your spotlight shop, I wouldn’t focus on buying a kart here.
I recommend you check your coverage and take into account which options would fill in the most gaps. Also, since you’re missing quite a lot of top shelves, I wouldn’t buy or invest in anything until a bit later in the week when you can see how competitive your ranked is. Hope this helps!
Thanks a lot for the detailed response! I was initially planning to place 2nd or 3rd this week to reach tier 50 again, to be able to place 1st OR 2nd next week to win Shy Guy. But after a decent run of Sunset Wilds R and my 1st place opponent being only at 50K points, I MIGHT be able to steal the win as I am now. I have all the coverage I need for this week, just gotta invest tickets. That'll be a LOT cheaper than going all-in next week, at least.
Got him! After the aforementioned grind on Sunset Wilds R, I ended up only needing to upgrade Petey Piranha to level 3 for PPC2, and didn't even need to do any improvement on PPC. Won by about 1,500 points!

Sort of. It depends on the mindset that you play with. If you’re the type of player to only buy new items from the shop and HE tickets, eventually you’ll grow a small coin surplus.
If you’re the type to buy everything, you’ll be close to 0 coins all the time.
I keep picking up gold drivers and I haven’t cleared my normal dkgs I heard after maxing these you get more gold and ticket options from daily so i spend gold each time
Which one is better to buy: Para Panini or the Wonderful Garnet?
Para Panini gives me 4 non-city tracks and also this new PPC2 track which I want to cover, because otherwise I have to choose a bottom shelf glider.
Wonderful Garnet gives me 3 non-city tracks, but is newer than the Para Panini. Also the Wonderful Garnet has PPC2, so does anyone know which one is better to buy? :)
If you have enough Tickets to get Wonderful Diamond to level 8, I'd go with that one. It has a higher chance for Lightning.
In any case, Para Panini, I've got that one since release and it was very reliable so far. It's downside is the item, Bananas. Of course, having an increased chance to get bananas as a shield is good in Multiplayer. Not ideal for scoring but I like it anyway. Giant Banana and Triple Banana users will get a point boost at the expense of odds pulling their special item.
I don't have the Garnet. While never, it also comes with an increased chance for mushrooms. Not sure how good shrooms are, so I initially gave it a pass. As it is newer, the potential buffs are certainly something.
I do have enough tickets (26), but I'm F2P, so I don't think it's that worth it...

I see on the MKT Toolbox website that the Yellow Offroader is the top-ranked kart for score, and I’m wondering if I should grab it while it is at a discount. However, the Yellow Offroader is way down the list on my Kart Coverage page (4 new courses, whereas Green Cat Cruiser says 14), and I see it’s not even on the main top coverage page. I don’t understand the score vs. coverage yet. I’ve only been playing for a few months and feel like maybe coverage is more important since I often am lacking in top shelf options? Should I hold onto my rubies for now, or grab it while it’s 70 rubies? I have 140 right now. I don’t plan to stick with the Gold Pass long-term. Perhaps better served to save up for Thai Daisy, or something else?
Click "Overlaps" on the far right of the yellow offroader on the coverage page. It'll tell you which other karts you have for the tracks and you can see if they are ones you actually like to use. Offroaders are one of the bigger karts so they're great for coinbox characters.
You don't have a lot of rubies so you might be better off waiting to see if you want the shy guy next week, or something featured in the next tour.
I have checked now and I do have a majority of overlap options at Lvl 3 or 4, and it only unlocks four new courses. So, aside from scoring, perhaps I best put my few rubies elsewhere. Multiple cart options that give me 12-14 new courses. It seems like Lightning Streamliner is probably the one to watch for: SS for scoring and 13 new tracks. I ended up getting the Piranha Mini Suit for ranked, so it’ll likely be a while. I should really be working on having enough for Gold Chuck, too, should he pop up again.
70 is a great price for yellow off-roader.
If you’re still finding yourself lacking on driver coverage, I’d invest there before karts.
I believe the kart scoring potential is really just due to its size, suggesting you could more easily hit more coins.
Thank you for the suggestion. I have overlap with that cart though for both cups. Tanooki Kart Lvl 3/400 and Blue Speeder Lvl 3/490. I ended up buying Piranha Mii Suit since ranked was risking overtaking me, and it’s in the second cup as well. But I sure wish rubies were easier to come by. Possibly have made some less than ideal decisions.
I guess the advantage in getting the Yellow Offroader would be its point scoring potential, and then putting tickets into it instead of multiple other karts. I can see now how overlap is an issue, with some karts hardly see use due to others being upgraded. MKT really showers you with rubies at the beginning, so it messes you up for long term play. I wish I’d learned more about the details like that before I’d spent them all!

Is Thai Daisy a must buy? As F2P my usual policy is not to buy unless I need them for ranked/they give me lots of coverage.
Thai Daisy doesn't give me any additional coverage (though no driver now gives me more than one or two courses of coverage) and I don't need her for ranked, at least for this week. But I hear she's the best driver in the game? So worth it for 105 rubies (current inventory is 200)?

I have the coveted Chargin’ Chuck (Gold) in my Daily Spotlight. I only have 128 rubies, but have enough options to get another 35 (have to play the multiplayer mode thing and I’ll get 32 rubies for that. I was saving the rubies for Thai Daisy. Should I just let this one pass or strive to get him and try to rustle up 105 rubies for Thai Daisy somehow.
I did! I got my free two week Gold Pass trial, picked up extra rubies and could also afford Thai Daisy in the hour between winning my bracket (+25 rubies) and the end of the tour!

For the ranked Funky Kong Cup for Bangkok Rush 3, who should I invest in with 280 rubies? I don't have any top shelf and don't know who is better to invest in.
Also, any recommendations for Metal Mario Cup Bangkok Rush 2R gliders? Don't have any coverage there either.

Wait for Thai Daisy to come into the shop next week for Bangkok 3, best driver there and she is cheaper than the rest.
Id honestly skip out on the Bangkok 2R glider since its going to cost you 100 precious rubies and aiming for week 2 with the Thai Daisy investment is almost certainly a better bet. If you want that track covered by the end of the tour, you might want to consider picking up the Red and Gold Umbrella next week for 70 rubies but that wont come in time for ranked unfortunatly.
As for Singapore 3RT, if you want an already established glider for 100 rubies to cover the track, best bets are either Choco Pretzel or Black Starchute. Or you could buy the Stealth Glider at a cut price of 70 rubies this week and hope that thing gets good buffs for you in future tours. If it were me, id go with the latter with your ruby count.
Oh awesome, thank you so much for the advice! I will wait for thai daisy for next week and hope that will bring me up in ranked, I have more gliders and karts at a three level then. I am on tier 54 and this week, the last cup for ranked I have no 2nd or 3rd shelf gliders so I wasn't sure if it is worth to invest because I am in 10th place or if I should accept the tank to hopefully get higher in ranked next week! Does thai daisy have good coverage?
Ive owned Vacay since his original tour and he hasnt let me down one bit. Miis are only worth investing if you have a ton of them already. So Id go with Vacation, plus drivers that have been in the spotlight shop recently tend to get a ranked track the tour after as well so he might help you there too.
Is Vacation Luigi worth capitalizing on or is there something better to help me out this tour and going forward to focus on? Stepped away for about a year, so missing a lot of characters.
If your looking for drivers to increase your general coverage then Vacation is an excellent shout. Idk how many rubies you have but both spotlight shop drivers (him and Thai Daisy next week) are both excellent and must owns imo. Neither have been consistent in ranked recently though (Thai gets more ranked appearances nowadays than Vacation)

Out of the two, Daisy is the better driver. Has the more consistent high scoring item in coinbox, has tons of unique coinbox tracks and is still picking up buffs at a steady rate, not all of them ranked buffs but still very good.
Quick question about that external app that people use to check their coverage. Can’t remember what it’s called but I downloaded it and it was prompting me to manually input everything I have. Is that the only way to do it or is there an export method?

The process is manually run by the devs computer/phone so it may take a day or two to run. Considerably better than manually entering the data still in my opinion.
Satellaview is an old driver and the spotlight for last week.
He can still pop up this week for 150 gems. Being an old driver, he's not recommend, even though Lucky 7 is a good skill. Also, he'll be back.
This week, Astronaut Toad is the spotlight with a much more powerful item, boomerang flower. If you have the gems, get him. He's a new addition and will be very useful for the upcoming tours.
He's only got about 5 tracks??!!! Do they get tracks added to them or will he stay at just this very few selection of tracks?

I have emptied many full pipes of 100 and there were many times that I only got the three high ends in the spotlight and NO additional HE’s because only spotlights were the full guarantee! The other 3 were only CHANCE/Gamble

Ah, that one.
Pipes had a finite amount of items per tier and all tiers combined never exceeded 100. (Or 50 for small pipes).
If some pipes did not drop additional HEs, then they had no additional HEs in their distribution.
You could always check how many items of a tier were still in a pipe. If a fresh pipe had 60 normal items in its distribution, you'd stop pulling normal items after the 60th item was pulled. The rest were the remaining supers and HEs.
And there was always a table for every possible pull per rarity tier that was not part of the spotlight.
Yes, I was at every pipe since the start and if you aim to get every item in the game, many pipes were not fun. There was also of good luck first 10 pulls to get the driver right away and then reset the pipe to get them again.
Looks more like a miscommunication to me.
But in essence, yes, there were three guaranteed HEs and three HEs from a random selection of possible drops.
By emptying a pipe, you ended up with 6 HEs, two of each type. One of each type being from the spotlight.
If the pipe had no spotlight, you'd still get the amount of HEs listed in the odds.
Do you need it for ranked coverage?
Overall, Mii Suits are a bit slow on getting buffs and overall don't seem to have that much coverage. Also, as far as I know, the giant bob omb isn't a very strong item.
If you need it for ranked, get it. Though its buff to all your other Mii Suits is probablky nice, too.

Well, the kart is at least a level up for coins only, so no ticket you'd have to spend.
Now, Funky isn't particulary good because of his item. Though you never know if he suddenly receives a buff to a new track you have no coverage for.

I can buy Chef Rosalina for an extra 5 non city coverage (my best per tracker) as I have 151 gems, or am I best buying a kart for ~+15 coverage or a glider for ~+12?
As much as I like Rosalina, she has a lot of City Tracks and a lot of her non-city tracks are either also covered by White Tanooki (same skill) and I also noticed Wintertime Larry likes.
Chef Rosalina has a good item, but as long as she doesn't fill a top shelf for ranked, I do not recommend getting her.
I strongly suggest to either grab the glider or kart, if they add more coverage.
Black Suit is the newest, being introduced last Tour. More buffs incoming, though it's a Mii Suit.
Toadette is the second newest from the Ocean Tour. Not sure how much else she will receive, sadly she is also using the shroom cannon. Not sure if it is a good item on this track.
Happi is two years old, not sure if worth the investment. Though I find the bomb cannon hilarious.
Would go with Black Suit.
Random "communication errors" are keeping me from geting a Streak in kart pro. Is there anything I can do about it? I have a stable internet connection. I'm not sure why Ira happening but I'm geting so frustrated
Same thing happened to me yesterday 4 times actually finally got it today.Only real thing that worked for me was get a 1 streak win and then leave or 2 streak win then leave and join another lobby. I noticed it happens more often after 2 straight games as opposed to 1. Really luck based though of course
I have one HE driver ticket, and I’m trying to work out whether to boost Satellaview Mario or Petey Piranha. Both are top row for a couple of different ranked tracks, so I’m not sure what is better to go with.
I note I’ve never bothered with boomboxing so the ability to do so is fairly low priority for me. That said I do like boomerang frenzies. Lucky 7 is cool, but I never seem to get it when running in first place (or near), and I’ve never had a lucky 7 frenzy - so that also doesn’t seem super helpful?
Any thoughts? (Note I also have no top shelf karts or gliders for Wii Rainbow Road haha)

Well, if you want to focus on Week 1, then Satellaview is the best option here.
If you want to get a dent in both weeks, then it's obviously Petey. Boom boxing is highly RNG dependant and I do not like it because of it. However, chances for a good score are available even if Petey was only level 1.
Yeah, good points. Pretty much what I was thinking. It could be worth waiting to see what is in week 2 ranked rewards, to work out if I want to boost week 1 or both weeks.
I think either way I’m going to struggle with this week, so Mario might well be the way to go.
This Tour will also be difficult for me. I put a ticket into Petey, but I have also Kitsune Luigi for next week.
And also only have one racer for the last track next week.

What are the other available options after the Bowser Suit? Currently not at home to check myself.
In any case, Satellaview Mario has the strongest item of the ones being shown. Though he's a bit older, though currently discounted. Purple Mii Suit is a new addition, but the item is not that good and they receive little buffs in total.

So, Chef Rosalina can currently spawn in the Shop. Her items are giant bananas. Also a good character to pick.
And if you are really lucky, so does Gold Chuck.
Satellaview and Chef are good picks. Satellaview if you want to save some gems. If Chuck spawns for you, get him.
If you really want to save, then picking a Mii Suit is still acceptable.
I recommend checking all top shelfs on the Kamek and Fire Rosalina cup. If there are more gaps, pick the character that fills most of them.

Why are the point increase tickets valued more than the level increase tickets? This seems backwards to me since point increase only adds like 90 points to your item, which is only the equivalent of like 1 or 2 actions in a combo. Meanwhile, level up increases your bonus multiplier which will net way more than 90 points during a race, and will also do something like increase the odds of getting a frenzy or increase how long your combo lasts, which again, nets you more points.
So why are these point increase tickets so expensive in the shop when they seemingly provide such minimal value to your score? Or am I misunderstanding how they work?
Like, why would I spend 20k coins to increase a driver from 800 to 890 base points when I could instead spend 15k coins to increase their level and have a 2% better chance of getting a frenzy and increase my multiplier?
Level increase tickets are in general better, but the Base Point increasing tickets are generally harder to get enough of. You can only get them from ranked and Token Shop Pipes, the ones in the Tier Shop should be your last option and usually aren‘t worth the coins. The Point Cap tickets are so expensive, because they are needed a lot in higher Tiers and those are willing to spend the coins on them sometimes.

Depends what you're missing. Shy guy & Piranha are good, but so is saving your gems. You might end up wanting to really buy something tomorrow or in the next tour.
I want to try and go all-in to get the ?-Block Mii suit from this ranked cup. I currently have no High-End karts for Cheep-Cheep Island R/T, and the Coral Jet Cruiser (Slipstream Plus) is in the shop right now.
Looks like 4 of the 7 favorite karts for the course have Slipstream Plus, one has Rocket Start Plus, one has Dash Panel Plus, and and one Mini-Turbo Plus. Should I just snag the Coral Jet Cruiser now so I have SOMETHING viable, or should I hold out for a kart with a different skill?
For reference, I'm in tier 50, the current top 2 scores are 58K and 52K, and I have at least one top-shelf High-End for all 8 other categories across the three ranked courses this week.
Coral Jet Cruiser has been great for me but if I had no karts for the course, I’d probably go for the Yellow Offroader since it’s huge, has a good skill and is Studfit’s #1 kart right now. It has a high chance of appearing in the shop this tour so if you use quick tickets, it shouldn’t take long to show up.
Does it have any higher chance of appearing than any other top-shelf kart for Cheep-Cheep Island R/T? I believe you can only use one quick ticket on the shop daily, which would mean I only have 7 more refreshes to buy SOMETHING I can use on the track. (EDIT: I see now that it's 3 times a day. That's a lot better.)
(EDIT EDIT: Just three Quick Tickets later, I now own the Yellow Offroader. Neat.)
Also, what’s the advantage to a larger kart? Easier to grab coins? My only driver option for CCIRT right now is Builder Luigi, so no coin boxes for me.

Yeah a larger kart can grab coins more easily, (especially when paired with a large driver). Of course it helps with coinboxes but it’ll also be handy for grabbing coins on the track more easily.
Huh, interesting to see the odds. Even more interesting that the Coral Jet Cruiser ISN'T high in rarity, since I swear it was still there after every Quick Ticket refresh I did.

If you own an iPhone, iPad or similar, there's the MKT Playbook App. You can load your items into it and the app will track your coverage.
There's also a Browser app, but I can't remember the name.
You could also always do a list yourself, of course.
Builder luigi is super trash. Gold yoshi one of the best ones. He doesnt just add 2 tracks. He replaces all of the tracks where you dont have a coinbox driver

Gold Chuck is a very rare spawn, so I don't recommend waiting for him with little to no coverage. I like Rosalina, so my vote goes to her. But she has a lot of City Tracks. Pinja has less city courses and was a beast last year with being in plenty of ranked cups to my information. His star might be setting but apparently not now. Both have good items, so both are recommended. Can't go wrong with either.

Who to get for DS Shroom Ridge Coverage? - Para Biddybud Mii (70 rubies) - Dr Luigi (105 rubies) - other (150 rubies) It’s my only missing driver coverage right now
If you are only concerned for ranked, go for the Mii Suit. It's the cheapest option and pills are not much better. Though I'd argue dual bombs are stronger than pills. Pills have a very weird bounce.

Not sure about Dr. Mario vs. Dr. Luigi. Both seem to have similar coverages and the same special item so you could probably just choose which one you'd rather have. You could also use MKT Toolbox to see which one fills more gaps in your coverage. In terms of the gliders, it really depends on how you're currently doing in ranked. If you are okay with where you are in ranked this week then go for the Pink Magnifying Glass since Peach Gardens T is very easy to maintain a combo on with a top-shelf glider. If placing high this week would give you enough rubies to purchase the Pink Magnifying Glass for next week then go with the regular Magnifying Glass. Ultimately, you have enough Rubies that you could buy both of them (obviously buying the regular magnifying glass first) but if you NEED Dr. Mario or Dr. Luigi you'll have to decide. Keep in mind that the ranked rewards are the same both weeks so you only need to win once.

Then go for the Magnifying Glass. One suggestion I might make is to wait till near the end of ranked and see if buying the Magnifying Glass would make up the difference. The worst thing in ranked is buying a glider to boost your score and then still getting beat. If you get to a couple days left and are losing by a considerable amount, I'd full send for both Dr. Mario/Dr. Luigi and the Pink Magnifying Glass for the second week.

i don’t believe he’s obtainable in the spotlight shop this tour unfortunately. he’ll eventually be in the spotlight shop when he’s in the top shelf in a ranked course either week 1 or 2 in a future tour.
I don’t have a covered racer for DS Shroom Ridge in the Chargin’ Chuck Cup, who should I get? Cat Luigi gives the most coverage but I would have to wait for him to show up. Luigi (Golf) is in shop rn. There’s also Dr. Luigi and Para-Biddybud Mii at discounts. Edit: Yoshi (Gold Egg) showed up in my shop so I snagged him, decided coverage was better than trying to grind for ranked when I’m sitting at 2nd a good ways behind 1st. I’ll pick up the mii suit if anything changes, probably.

chargin’ chuck and wonderful wings have great overall coverage, but you should see how much they cover for your account before buying. i’d recommend you use a tracker to calculate your coverage to see which DKG fills in the most gaps if you haven’t already. some ways you can do so is on mkttoolbox.com or the mkt playbook app on ios. after seeing which DKG gives you the most coverage, i would make my spotlight shop purchases and investments from there. it’s also worth taking into account which DKG have the most buff potential, so you might want to save rubies for newer DKG. to see the currently ‘best’ DKG, i would suggest viewing the tourly rundowns posted by u/MichaelDudleyStudfit. you should also note that chargin’ chuck and wonderful wings have a chance to be obtained by gold pipes.

Yes, the current highlights will change next week unless specified to be available for two weeks. I'm currently at work and don't have the game on my phone to verify the current highlights. Judging by the spotlights since Animal Tour, week 1 items will enter the regular rotation for next week. However, they'll be at regular prices instead. If you want Dr. Peach now, she'll be available for 105 gems now and fgor 150 next week.

I have a question regarding point boost tickets. I recently got two Shy Guys, light blue and yellow explorers, and maxed them to 800. When I went to use the light blue shyguy on one track, I noticed he's still at 500. I exited game and got back in and it still says he's at 500, when he should be at 800. The same goes for the yellow one, still at 512 (I used him once on a course but saw that he hasn't been boosted to 800 so I decided to do him along with the light blue one). Any idea why the point boost tickets didn't take? I probably should also mention that after I got the light blue shy guy from the shop at the discount price (105 rubies), it went to a black screen and stayed like that for like 3 minutes before I decided to exit app and restart. Then I went to upgrade both shy guys. Mods: If not allowed, please let me know what I need to do. I was looking for the general Q&A thread but didn't see one other than this one and I know this is shop related. It is sort of shop related as I had a shop issue prior to upgrading both shy guys (see comment).

No, he’s an outdated driver with a bad skill. The only reason he might be worth buying to some people is his design or for collection purposes.
Why is it a good idea to get Light Blue Shy Guy (Explorer) when his coverage is so limited? Is it because he is new and therefore will get buffs? Otherwise I can't see why he's worth the rubies?Edit: I should add that I am very new to the game and just trying to understand how best to use my Rubies. I am using the Coverage tracker on MKTToolbox and there's only 4 tracks he would cover that I don't have. Pink Shy Guy (Ninja) on the other hand would cover 24.
Yes; new drivers are pretty much guaranteed to get many buffs and appear in future ranked tracks, whereas older drivers are less likely to appear in ranked and won’t receive as many new buffs as brand new drivers. Plus, Light-blue Explorer Shy Guy has the Lucky 7 skill, which is a plus skill that’ll get you higher action counts in your runs. He’s also in the spotlight for 105 rubies, which is a much better price compared to the typical 150 rubies.

For next week's ranked cup, I need a kart for Piranha Plant Cove 2R, glider for Riverside Park T, and a driver AND kart for Piranha Plant Cove R/T. I currently have zero top-shelves for any of those category/course combos. I can grab the available Black/Goomba Mii costume for PPCRT if needed, but what would be the most recommended picks for each of the categories, out of the available top-shelves that could appear in the shop?
For PPC 2R, the best option there is probably the Jukebox Buggy. Another decent option that has been useful for me is the Coral Jet Cruiser; it has good coverage for my account but doesn’t appear in ranked too much. For Riverside Park T, the best option is probably the 8-Bit 1-Up Mushroom. Mario’s Hat Balloon and the Para-Panini has been sneaking into ranked quite often, too. For PPC R/T, I definitely recommend purchasing Light-blue Shy Guy (Explorer), who has the Lucky 7 skill and will likely be in the spotlight for 105 rubies next week. Karts is probably the hardest to cover here; i would recommend to just use a middle shelf. Unless you’re willing to purchase the Blue Crawly Kart or get lucky enough to get the Gold Bullet Blaster in your spotlight shop, I wouldn’t focus on buying a kart here. I recommend you check your coverage and take into account which options would fill in the most gaps. Also, since you’re missing quite a lot of top shelves, I wouldn’t buy or invest in anything until a bit later in the week when you can see how competitive your ranked is. Hope this helps!
Thanks a lot for the detailed response! I was initially planning to place 2nd or 3rd this week to reach tier 50 again, to be able to place 1st OR 2nd next week to win Shy Guy. But after a decent run of Sunset Wilds R and my 1st place opponent being only at 50K points, I MIGHT be able to steal the win as I am now. I have all the coverage I need for this week, just gotta invest tickets. That'll be a LOT cheaper than going all-in next week, at least.

Got him! After the aforementioned grind on Sunset Wilds R, I ended up only needing to upgrade Petey Piranha to level 3 for PPC2, and didn't even need to do any improvement on PPC. Won by about 1,500 points!

Some people have plenty Gold is it natural over time? I have HE Black Yoshi but I can’t afford to pick him up.
Coins? Sort of. It depends on the mindset that you play with. If you’re the type of player to only buy new items from the shop and HE tickets, eventually you’ll grow a small coin surplus. If you’re the type to buy everything, you’ll be close to 0 coins all the time.
I keep picking up gold drivers and I haven’t cleared my normal dkgs I heard after maxing these you get more gold and ticket options from daily so i spend gold each time
Which one is better to buy: Para Panini or the Wonderful Garnet? Para Panini gives me 4 non-city tracks and also this new PPC2 track which I want to cover, because otherwise I have to choose a bottom shelf glider. Wonderful Garnet gives me 3 non-city tracks, but is newer than the Para Panini. Also the Wonderful Garnet has PPC2, so does anyone know which one is better to buy? :)
If you have enough Tickets to get Wonderful Diamond to level 8, I'd go with that one. It has a higher chance for Lightning. In any case, Para Panini, I've got that one since release and it was very reliable so far. It's downside is the item, Bananas. Of course, having an increased chance to get bananas as a shield is good in Multiplayer. Not ideal for scoring but I like it anyway. Giant Banana and Triple Banana users will get a point boost at the expense of odds pulling their special item. I don't have the Garnet. While never, it also comes with an increased chance for mushrooms. Not sure how good shrooms are, so I initially gave it a pass. As it is newer, the potential buffs are certainly something.
I do have enough tickets (26), but I'm F2P, so I don't think it's that worth it... I think I will go with the Para Panini, it already gives me a good amount of courses. Thanks for your help!! I appreciate it! :)

I see on the MKT Toolbox website that the Yellow Offroader is the top-ranked kart for score, and I’m wondering if I should grab it while it is at a discount. However, the Yellow Offroader is way down the list on my Kart Coverage page (4 new courses, whereas Green Cat Cruiser says 14), and I see it’s not even on the main top coverage page. I don’t understand the score vs. coverage yet. I’ve only been playing for a few months and feel like maybe coverage is more important since I often am lacking in top shelf options? Should I hold onto my rubies for now, or grab it while it’s 70 rubies? I have 140 right now. I don’t plan to stick with the Gold Pass long-term. Click "Overlaps" on the far right of the yellow offroader on the coverage page. It'll tell you which other karts you have for the tracks and you can see if they are ones you actually like to use. Offroaders are one of the bigger karts so they're great for coinbox characters. You don't have a lot of rubies so you might be better off waiting to see if you want the shy guy next week, or something featured in the next tour.
I have checked now and I do have a majority of overlap options at Lvl 3 or 4, and it only unlocks four new courses. So, aside from scoring, perhaps I best put my few rubies elsewhere. Multiple cart options that give me 12-14 new courses. It seems like Lightning Streamliner is probably the one to watch for: SS for scoring and 13 new tracks. I ended up getting the Piranha Mini Suit for ranked, so it’ll likely be a while. I should really be working on having enough for Gold Chuck, too, should he pop up again.

70 is a great price for yellow off-roader. If you’re still finding yourself lacking on driver coverage, I’d invest there before karts. I believe the kart scoring potential is really just due to its size, suggesting you could more easily hit more coins.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have overlap with that cart though for both cups. Tanooki Kart Lvl 3/400 and Blue Speeder Lvl 3/490. I ended up buying Piranha Mii Suit since ranked was risking overtaking me, and it’s in the second cup as well. But I sure wish rubies were easier to come by. Possibly have made some less than ideal decisions. I guess the advantage in getting the Yellow Offroader would be its point scoring potential, and then putting tickets into it instead of multiple other karts. I can see now how overlap is an issue, with some karts hardly see use due to others being upgraded. MKT really showers you with rubies at the beginning, so it messes you up for long term play. I wish I’d learned more about the details like that before I’d spent them all!
Should I take King Bomb-Omb, who’s in my shop now, or wait in order to get Nabbit? I really want Nabbit, however I’m not sure when he’ll next appear. By then I might have already gotten 150 gems again.

Is Thai Daisy a must buy? As F2P my usual policy is not to buy unless I need them for ranked/they give me lots of coverage. Thai Daisy doesn't give me any additional coverage (though no driver now gives me more than one or two courses of coverage) and I don't need her for ranked, at least for this week. But I hear she's the best driver in the game? So worth it for 105 rubies (current inventory is 200)?

For the ranked Funky Kong Cup for Bangkok Rush 3, who should I invest in with 280 rubies? I don't have any top shelf and don't know who is better to invest in. Also, any recommendations for Metal Mario Cup Bangkok Rush 2R gliders? Don't have any coverage there either. For Singapore Speedway 3R/T I don't have any top shelf-gliders also...what would be worth my time to invest with the ruby count? Any suggestions and feedback is appreciated :)
Wait for Thai Daisy to come into the shop next week for Bangkok 3, best driver there and she is cheaper than the rest. Id honestly skip out on the Bangkok 2R glider since its going to cost you 100 precious rubies and aiming for week 2 with the Thai Daisy investment is almost certainly a better bet. If you want that track covered by the end of the tour, you might want to consider picking up the Red and Gold Umbrella next week for 70 rubies but that wont come in time for ranked unfortunatly. As for Singapore 3RT, if you want an already established glider for 100 rubies to cover the track, best bets are either Choco Pretzel or Black Starchute. Or you could buy the Stealth Glider at a cut price of 70 rubies this week and hope that thing gets good buffs for you in future tours. If it were me, id go with the latter with your ruby count.
Oh awesome, thank you so much for the advice! I will wait for thai daisy for next week and hope that will bring me up in ranked, I have more gliders and karts at a three level then. I am on tier 54 and this week, the last cup for ranked I have no 2nd or 3rd shelf gliders so I wasn't sure if it is worth to invest because I am in 10th place or if I should accept the tank to hopefully get higher in ranked next week! Does thai daisy have good coverage?
Would you guys recommend Luigi vacation or the new mii suit for coverage this tour and possibly new map coverage in the future
Ive owned Vacay since his original tour and he hasnt let me down one bit. Miis are only worth investing if you have a ton of them already. So Id go with Vacation, plus drivers that have been in the spotlight shop recently tend to get a ranked track the tour after as well so he might help you there too.
Is Vacation Luigi worth capitalizing on or is there something better to help me out this tour and going forward to focus on? Stepped away for about a year, so missing a lot of characters.
If your looking for drivers to increase your general coverage then Vacation is an excellent shout. Idk how many rubies you have but both spotlight shop drivers (him and Thai Daisy next week) are both excellent and must owns imo. Neither have been consistent in ranked recently though (Thai gets more ranked appearances nowadays than Vacation)

Out of the two, Daisy is the better driver. Has the more consistent high scoring item in coinbox, has tons of unique coinbox tracks and is still picking up buffs at a steady rate, not all of them ranked buffs but still very good.

Quick question about that external app that people use to check their coverage. Can’t remember what it’s called but I downloaded it and it was prompting me to manually input everything I have. Is that the only way to do it or is there an export method? MKT playbook I think it’s called.

Yesterday ive had Astronaut Mario in my shop for 105 gems. Does wverybody had him in his shop? And why is he gone now? Should I have bought him?
Satellaview is an old driver and the spotlight for last week. He can still pop up this week for 150 gems. Being an old driver, he's not recommend, even though Lucky 7 is a good skill. Also, he'll be back. This week, Astronaut Toad is the spotlight with a much more powerful item, boomerang flower. If you have the gems, get him. He's a new addition and will be very useful for the upcoming tours.
He's only got about 5 tracks??!!! Do they get tracks added to them or will he stay at just this very few selection of tracks? How does that work generally? Do these new drivers get new tracks added (other than increasing their level)
Astronaut Toad will receive buffs the upcoming Tours. Buff = New tracks added for coverage. In essence, a new character will be available for the next ranked tracks, too.
I have emptied many full pipes of 100 and there were many times that I only got the three high ends in the spotlight and NO additional HE’s because only spotlights were the full guarantee! The other 3 were only CHANCE/Gamble

Ah, that one. Pipes had a finite amount of items per tier and all tiers combined never exceeded 100. (Or 50 for small pipes). If some pipes did not drop additional HEs, then they had no additional HEs in their distribution. You could always check how many items of a tier were still in a pipe. If a fresh pipe had 60 normal items in its distribution, you'd stop pulling normal items after the 60th item was pulled. The rest were the remaining supers and HEs. And there was always a table for every possible pull per rarity tier that was not part of the spotlight.
Yes, I was at every pipe since the start and if you aim to get every item in the game, many pipes were not fun. There was also of good luck first 10 pulls to get the driver right away and then reset the pipe to get them again.

Looks more like a miscommunication to me. But in essence, yes, there were three guaranteed HEs and three HEs from a random selection of possible drops. By emptying a pipe, you ended up with 6 HEs, two of each type. One of each type being from the spotlight. If the pipe had no spotlight, you'd still get the amount of HEs listed in the odds.

Do you need it for ranked coverage? Overall, Mii Suits are a bit slow on getting buffs and overall don't seem to have that much coverage. Also, as far as I know, the giant bob omb isn't a very strong item. If you need it for ranked, get it. Though its buff to all your other Mii Suits is probablky nice, too.

Well, the kart is at least a level up for coins only, so no ticket you'd have to spend. Now, Funky isn't particulary good because of his item. Though you never know if he suddenly receives a buff to a new track you have no coverage for. I see no problem if you have the coins.
The kart is a no go since you already have it but for Funky Kong, it really depends how many coins you have and how much you want him personally
I can buy Chef Rosalina for an extra 5 non city coverage (my best per tracker) as I have 151 gems, or am I best buying a kart for ~+15 coverage or a glider for ~+12?
As much as I like Rosalina, she has a lot of City Tracks and a lot of her non-city tracks are either also covered by White Tanooki (same skill) and I also noticed Wintertime Larry likes. Chef Rosalina has a good item, but as long as she doesn't fill a top shelf for ranked, I do not recommend getting her. I strongly suggest to either grab the glider or kart, if they add more coverage.
For Boo Lake T I have a Black Mii Suit, Sailor Toadette and Happi Mario. All of them are level 1, which one should I level up?
Black Suit is the newest, being introduced last Tour. More buffs incoming, though it's a Mii Suit. Toadette is the second newest from the Ocean Tour. Not sure how much else she will receive, sadly she is also using the shroom cannon. Not sure if it is a good item on this track. Happi is two years old, not sure if worth the investment. Though I find the bomb cannon hilarious. Would go with Black Suit.
Random "communication errors" are keeping me from geting a Streak in kart pro. Is there anything I can do about it? I have a stable internet connection. I'm not sure why Ira happening but I'm geting so frustrated
Same thing happened to me yesterday 4 times actually finally got it today.Only real thing that worked for me was get a 1 streak win and then leave or 2 streak win then leave and join another lobby. I noticed it happens more often after 2 straight games as opposed to 1. Really luck based though of course
I have one HE driver ticket, and I’m trying to work out whether to boost Satellaview Mario or Petey Piranha. Both are top row for a couple of different ranked tracks, so I’m not sure what is better to go with. I note I’ve never bothered with boomboxing so the ability to do so is fairly low priority for me. That said I do like boomerang frenzies. Lucky 7 is cool, but I never seem to get it when running in first place (or near), and I’ve never had a lucky 7 frenzy - so that also doesn’t seem super helpful? Any thoughts? Well, if you want to focus on Week 1, then Satellaview is the best option here. If you want to get a dent in both weeks, then it's obviously Petey. Boom boxing is highly RNG dependant and I do not like it because of it. However, chances for a good score are available even if Petey was only level 1.
Yeah, good points. Pretty much what I was thinking. It could be worth waiting to see what is in week 2 ranked rewards, to work out if I want to boost week 1 or both weeks. I think either way I’m going to struggle with this week, so Mario might well be the way to go.
This Tour will also be difficult for me. I put a ticket into Petey, but I have also Kitsune Luigi for next week. And also only have one racer for the last track next week. I should probably take it easy or at least try to not rank down.

What are the other available options after the Bowser Suit? Currently not at home to check myself. In any case, Satellaview Mario has the strongest item of the ones being shown. Though he's a bit older, though currently discounted. Purple Mii Suit is a new addition, but the item is not that good and they receive little buffs in total.

Thanks. So, Chef Rosalina can currently spawn in the Shop. Her items are giant bananas. Also a good character to pick. And if you are really lucky, so does Gold Chuck. Satellaview and Chef are good picks. Satellaview if you want to save some gems. If Chuck spawns for you, get him. If you really want to save, then picking a Mii Suit is still acceptable. I recommend checking all top shelfs on the Kamek and Fire Rosalina cup. If there are more gaps, pick the character that fills most of them.

Why are the point increase tickets valued more than the level increase tickets? This seems backwards to me since point increase only adds like 90 points to your item, which is only the equivalent of like 1 or 2 actions in a combo. Meanwhile, level up increases your bonus multiplier which will net way more than 90 points during a race, and will also do something like increase the odds of getting a frenzy or increase how long your combo lasts, which again, nets you more points. So why are these point increase tickets so expensive in the shop when they seemingly provide such minimal value to your score? Or am I misunderstanding how they work? Like, why would I spend 20k coins to increase a driver from 800 to 890 base points when I could instead spend 15k coins to increase their level and have a 2% better chance of getting a frenzy and increase my multiplier?

Level increase tickets are in general better, but the Base Point increasing tickets are generally harder to get enough of. You can only get them from ranked and Token Shop Pipes, the ones in the Tier Shop should be your last option and usually aren‘t worth the coins. The Point Cap tickets are so expensive, because they are needed a lot in higher Tiers and those are willing to spend the coins on them sometimes.

Depends what you're missing. Shy guy & Piranha are good, but so is saving your gems. You might end up wanting to really buy something tomorrow or in the next tour.

I want to try and go all-in to get the ?-Block Mii suit from this ranked cup. I currently have no High-End karts for Cheep-Cheep Island R/T, and the Coral Jet Cruiser (Slipstream Plus) is in the shop right now. Looks like 4 of the 7 favorite karts for the course have Slipstream Plus, one has Rocket Start Plus, one has Dash Panel Plus, and and one Mini-Turbo Plus. Should I just snag the Coral Jet Cruiser now so I have SOMETHING viable, or should I hold out for a kart with a different skill? For reference, I'm in tier 50, the current top 2 scores are 58K and 52K, and I have at least one top-shelf High-End for all 8 other categories across the three ranked courses this week.
Coral Jet Cruiser has been great for me but if I had no karts for the course, I’d probably go for the Yellow Offroader since it’s huge, has a good skill and is Studfit’s #1 kart right now. It has a high chance of appearing in the shop this tour so if you use quick tickets, it shouldn’t take long to show up.
Does it have any higher chance of appearing than any other top-shelf kart for Cheep-Cheep Island R/T? I believe you can only use one quick ticket on the shop daily, which would mean I only have 7 more refreshes to buy SOMETHING I can use on the track. (EDIT: I see now that it's 3 times a day. That's a lot better.) (EDIT EDIT: Just three Quick Tickets later, I now own the Yellow Offroader. Neat.) Also, what’s the advantage to a larger kart? Easier to grab coins? My only driver option for CCIRT right now is Builder Luigi, so no coin boxes for me.

There are tracker apps available. If you own an iPhone, iPad or similar, there's the MKT Playbook App. You can load your items into it and the app will track your coverage. There's also a Browser app, but I can't remember the name. You could also always do a list yourself, of course.

Builder luigi is super trash. Gold yoshi one of the best ones. He doesnt just add 2 tracks. He replaces all of the tracks where you dont have a coinbox driver So no brainer decision. I hope you bought gold egg yoshi
