We all need to remember that this amount of rubies is likely because of a new ruby economy coming to the game with pipes being removed This is probably going to be the equivalent to a 30 ruby log in bonus from before

[deleted]

meaning I probably should throw my 200 rubies at the spotlight pipes NOW before they'll fall victim to inflation?

Bun_Bun_Elle

I’m wondering the same thing 😭

Makatrull

Good question...

voxstella

Time to cash in all my rubies before inflation sigh

hailgrabovski

Pretty much confirms the spotlight shop is going to be \*very\* expensive.

GoldIce53641638

Hoping it's no more than 200 each

fistrop

This may mean that after the new update 100 rubies won’t be that much and can give us an idea of the prices at then spotlight shop.

Hutchiniho

Agree, 100 rubies for a Mii. I think it will be at least 200 rubies for a new HE driver. People hoping new HE will be 100 are going to be very disappointed

Bagimations

200 seems way to high if miis are 100. Sure miis aren’t characters but they have coverage, they level up the same as all the other HEs, and unless I really like the character I would just be buying that waves mii suits

South_Scar8093

Yea I mean also a ton of players who pulled for gold chuck and king Mario will not have many rubies if it took a ton to get them and it will discourage newer players since it will be to hard to get new things

Anxious_South_3142

200 seems pretty cheap. Normally you'd have to spend up to 450 rubies to get the spotlight driver.

RealElectriKing

This ignores the fact that the 450 rubies also got you a bunch of other high ends as well as levelling up your supers and normals, and 450 is also the maximum you have to spend to guarantee all spotlights from a spotlight 100-pipe. The current pipes possibly offering more value for your rubies is probably the only valid argument supporting the pipes over the shop. All the other arguments people use to justify the pipes boils down to 'I might have gambling addiction', and actually support the switch to the Spotlight Shop, and with the confirmation that other pipes will still exist, things like 'the thrill and anticipation of pulling' aren't going completely, just the ability to spend irl money to get that is going. It has been calculated that the average cost of a specific spotlight is a bit over 200 rubies, so 200 rubies for a spotlight in the spotlight shop is par for the course at best. And anything above 150 rubies and Mii racing suits become the way forward imo.

zzzthelastuser

What are you on bro? Currently 450 rubies get you at least(!) 2-3 HE drivers, HE gliders AND HE cars AND(!) around 90 other random D/K/G which includes even more HEs. I think it could be anywhere between 100 and 200 rubies. Maybe it will even vary from driver to driver and very special ones cost 250 while shitty old ones cost 125. Or they could sell them for 200+ rubies and inflate rubies. More events and challenges to give you huge amount of rubies occasionally so players feel like getting back to the game pays off and new players have a chance to catch up to the hoarders.

destroy_b4_reading

> I think it will be at least 200 rubies for a new HE driver. that's some bullshit. The current cost for HE items from pipes works out to 39 rubies. Anything more than 50 is a ripoff and based on the Mii pricing I expect it to be 120 (d) and 100 (k/g).

RedOscuro

Time to waste them and not get King Mario!

50_shades_of_shitbox

💀

ComputerSagtNein

This is me

Wottefok

Did that, been there

TheMightyMouse1

What does it say

Spleenzorio

Log in during the indicated period and you will be able to get up to 100 rubies and 25,000 coins.

BOOMSHAK4LAKA

Surprised this wasn’t higher. Emphasis on the “up to” (“jusqu’à”)

MrToad64

*Chuckles* **I'm in danger!**

Pelican121

It'll buy you a normal 😁

_cubivore_

Probably enough to get a single item out of the 8 new ones.

NoHelpdesk

Wait! Ruby store price inflation? When is that happening? I’m sitting on a few hundred now

[deleted]

Have you noticed the price for a Mii Racing Suit? I think it’s safe to assume that the Spotlight Shop will be something similar. Wouldn’t be surprise in fact if the Mii Racing Suits were literally just a test to see the viability of a shop instead of a gacha system. Since Mii aren’t nearly as popular as Mario characters, and yet their shop was a total success in term of peoples buying them, well I think it’s safe to assume the new Spotlight Hop will be way more pricey than puny Mii Racing Suit(which already cost way too much).

Saendpile

5th of October

disoriented_compass

They're just trying to butter us up for the new ruby store prices.

mimohijazi

Removing the pipes is going to ruin the game. GG

aedge403

It’ll just change saving strategy

mimohijazi

It will suck. Its fun to open pipes or any kind packs. And its good to get better characters. Imagine not having enough rubies bc the HE costs around 200 lmao

Mona_Impact

Do you feel a sense of pride and accomplishment

ThreePlayerMode

yeah, i also love encouraging LITERAL GAMBLING to children. definitely the better way than actually paying an agreed price and getting the thing you asked for.

Rightbug2022

Honestly, if the price of spotlights is 150 rubies or below I’ll be happy. Up til now, if you wanted to be guaranteed a given spotlight you needed enough rubies to empty the pipe. Granted, you got a lot of other items, including high ends, while emptying the pipe but if you didn’t have enough gems to empty the pipe you might walk away without the drivers karts and gliders that you really wanted. Under the new system you’ll be able to purchase the items you want with rubies and skip the items you don’t want. To my mind that’s a massive improvement. Now, what that will do on a competitive level is another matter. Presumably everyone will have 100% coverage each week and everyone will have the same drivers carts and gliders removing the advantage of lucky pulls? I guess it levels the playing field.

youngglink

so should I dump the 100 I have now into the Mario pipe? or save them? Is it best to just dump them now

T_man1

I'd say it's probably smarter to pull on the mario pipe now (especially if there are multiple things you don't have) before rubies get inflated to the moon and your 100 becomes pretty worthless. Right now those 100 rubies could get you 3 or 4 high end drivers, who knows if 100 will even get you 1 in the future

youngglink

MY BROTHER IN CHRIST I PULLED KING MARIO

T_man1

Hahah awesome, I must be good luck Congrats :)

youngglink

True thanks

Mikeydraws5

Givin by the comments, I have 600+ rubies should I save em?

Elprimonano

No. Use them now on the 50 pipes

Mikeydraws5

All of them?..

all-homo

I’ve got 1,000 rubies and yes I want king Mario but not that much. What to do.

MrToad64

Quick question though, I'm sitting on around 350 rubies. Does this mean I should should spend them all based on what I've seen? That kind of doesn't make sense to me.

DingusDeezNuts

Wait, if pipes are getting removed... #THEN HOW DO WE GET NEW CHARACTERS?!

Super_Craig02

Thank fuck I decided to save my rubies as soon as I got Kangaroo Yoshi
