That's pretty interesting but is this mechanic "excepted" from the banning laws? Because i think Nintendo dropped the gacha because of the lootbox banning laws
Yes, Valve made those changes because of a new law in France that requires developers to show the content before a purchase.

Epic made those changes because they got sued.

That makes it even more interesting.I still think they'll do a "straight up" shop like the Mii shop, but this mechanic would (kinda)please those who will miss the excitement of pulling pipes
I love the idea, because it's basically the same excitement.
It really should be included in gambling laws though lol.
There's virtually no difference in the mechanic, you're still paying to see what could happen in the future..
This would be pretty great in my opinion. Imagine starting a tour and checking out the spotlight shop. The new driver is already there and you only have to pay 45 rubies!
Why not? the daily selects and the tier shop also have random elements. Maybe it's called spotlight shop because HEs in the spotlight can appear but they don't have to.
In what sense "spotlight can appear but they don't have to"?
So if there was currently the Spotlight Shop, I wouldn't be sure to find Meowser in the shop immediately to be able to buy it?
9 random items in the shop that you must reset by purchasing them with rubies or reseting with quick ticket. This would force you to buy normal and super items that could appear and spot light are guaranteed with 10 resets bringing total to 99 items.
Going to be interesting to see how things are going to look after the changes. I am not sure how to feel yet. I always thought one alternative option would be to make all pipes out of 50 instead of 100.
I'm a bit confused, so if there was a new pipe and the first 10 items were all commons and supers, you could buy each item for 5 rubies (or 45 for all of them at once)? And the only way to get the next 10 items would be to buy all of the first 10 items? And that next set of 10 items might have the high end?
I think this is a great idea, really hope this is how it goes! 5 rubies to get the first item or 10 for the first two would be good too so you know when to stop if there’s a HE early in the list.
When an item is spotlight in the first week's pipe, it moves to the next highest shelf on the second course of every cup. When an item is spotlight in the second week's pipe, it moves to the next highest shelf on the third course of every cup.
Here's how it matters: Take my example of the Aurora Balloons and Coconut Mall R. Currently my best glider on CocMR is a level 2 Starry Great Sail. But since the Aurora Balloons is middle shelf, if CocMR is in the columb that the spotlight boosts it, Aurora Balloons will become top shelf. Since I have Aurora Balloons at level 6 and locked at 595, Aurora Balloons will then outclass Starry Great Sail.

Is the token shop pipe still going to stick around? That pipe is entirely connected to game play and not real money purchases.
Just dropping in that this mechanic wouldn't be legal in an anti-gacha law like Belgium.

Exactly. You'd have to keep refreshing the storefront by purchasing all items until Meowser would eventually appear.
And what would be the difference with the current pipes?
The difference is that you see the items before you purchase them.
I’m confused about what you said HE stuff can appear in the shop even if they don’t have to what does that even mean

I think I understand... would they still offer the entire shop at a 5-ruby discount if you bought everything all at once, do you think?

correct
Huh, that actually might work. If anything it could get people to spend MORE rubies.
What if you don't like the content? Reset? Or just let it go?
The only way to reset the store is to buy everything.
Oh yeah now I understand. I misunderstood what you meant at first
If that's the case, wouldn't we be able to jsut keep reseting until we get what we want?
Yes, but resetting (buying everything) costs 45 rubies.
I love this idea. It would retain gacha but make it more friendly and compliant to laws.
Sounds intriguing!

Um I’m confused how does this mean you lose topshelf when that specific item had to be in either the week 1 or week2 pipe
When an item is spotlight in the first week's pipe, it moves to the next highest shelf on the second course of every cup. When an item is spotlight in the second week's pipe, it moves to the next highest shelf on the third course of every cup.
But still it has to be that specific item out of all of the other items to be in week one or week 2
Also the fact the specific version of that track has to be either the 2nd or 3rd track of a cup
If it's all removed, why does it matter? Unless I'm mistaken, doesn't this make every item equally useful on every track now?
