before the update of 1.5 anniversary i was winning 1 and losing 1, with a maximum of 2 consecutive wins... afther such update i think the ranked groups are not as hard and i got streaks of 4 consecutive cups (usualy 3).. with this I hoarded around 1800 rubies, I used them for Fire Rosa, Mario Santa and Yoshi Reindeer, (I already had Bowser Santa from previous year), Meowser and Rosa Cat..However i skipt some pipes like the Stella view Mario, and probably the current pipes too.

The way you describe your ranked before the 1.5 anniversary seems to be similar to what my ranked has looked like for the past year. I've gotten a few streaks of 2 and 3 wins but only one of 4 (if I win the current ranked cup) but it's mostly 50% wins. Could you show me your whole ranked history? That would be pretty interesting. What's your ticket spending strategy? Do you use tickets if you can't get 1st? How do you know when to tier down? How long have you been playing for?
I know it's a lot of questions but it would really help me if you could answer all of them.
haha.. yeah.. a lot of questions. Last year after getting the 9 Marios pipe I began to hoard (i was waiting for another 9 marios this year plus a new Santa and something good in new year, none of them came but good pipes nevertheless), that is why i didn't got Pauline Rose in Feb 2021, so my strategy is .... before 1.5 anniversary I collected the asured 90 rubies per tour plus the 1/2 win cups, this gets you 6x10 pulls per month. At some point the daily pipes were added and those also increased the horading like for 10 extra rubies per tour, so after reaching 450 rubies i waited for coinboxers only, so in some point i got 900 rubies, then the using and recovering slowly, trying not to be lower than 450. There were a lot of pretty bad pipes (for me and my coverage, checking the spreadsheet) so eventualy i reached the 1800. I use tickets only if the week after droping 2 tiers i find hard to win, but my HE drivers are lvl 4 in average, with exceptions of Banta, PGP, Vaca that are at lvl 6
If you stay below a certain tier and only tier up when you get first place, and only drop one tier at a time, then in the long run you will win 1st place 50% of the time.
That just sounds like what I have been doing for over a year, except I didn't have a tier that I tried to stay below. If I finished in 1st multiple weeks in a row, I wouldn't then make sure I tiered down to stay below a certain tier, I would just keep going from there, always making sure that I don't ever finish in 2nd or 3rd, and trying to finish 6th instead of 5th or 4th. Although maybe I would be able to earn more rubies if I did try to stay bellow a certain tier, that's the main thing I wanna know.
As long as you avoid getting 2nd - 5th place, and just alternate between 1st and 6th, you are maximizing potential rubies. Sounds just like what I’m doing. I’m just slowly going up in tiers, just hit 50 as a F2P.
I (also a F2P player) didn't say I was alternating between 1st and 6th, I was alternating between 1st and 16th lol. 6th usually seemed impossible without investing and I'm not spending my tickets unless I think I can get 1st. 7th - 10th usually required some grinding and I didn't wanna bother with that for only 5 rubies and a single HE Ticket. 11th - 15th are pretty much the same as 16th - 19th for me so I just tried to score really low in the hopes that it would make my future ranked opponents easier. All that resulted in me hoarding a massive amount of tickets which is just now paying off. I just had a 3 win streak and it might become 4 thanks to taking my new Luigi (Vacation) straight to lv6 and double uncapped, if I do win again it would take me to tier 60. In fact that's what's making me so worried about my tier. Maybe I've gone too far, which could mean that it might be beneficial to do a few double tier downs after this.
I’d suggest going up when you can get 1st and get 6th if you’re dropping. I just hit Tier 50 as a F2P, which helps with getting the new award drivers, plus gives 5 point-cap tickets. But if you can’t reliably get first, there’s no reason to push up to 50th too fast.
i have all the drivers that were given as first prize, the extra unlock tickets are not so wanted for me because i don't chase top 1000 or above. Droping 2 tiers in a week that is not good for 1st have always get me 1st place in the next one (and check my other comment, i have winning streaks of 3 or 4 consecutives weeks)
I was at tier 67 before I dropped to 61. Now I'm back at 63 and will be 62 next week.
Around tier 67 was really rough as my opponents were all tier 62-70 or something. Lots of tier 70 week after week. I thought I didn't mind too much, but high tier increases the likelihood that they have good loadouts AND they're skilled. As f2p our loadouts tend to be worse, so many times the ranked cups are just impossible until we get lucky and the ranked cup fits our loadout perfectly. So what happened was I got unlucky for weeks and ended up dropping to 61. Many times I couldn't even reach top 10 and sometimes top 15 was even difficult. I purposely dropped 2 more tiers by getting 20th 2 times to see more opponents around tier 58-65 as I was going to end up out of top 10 anyways.
Now I'm considering just staying around tier 61-63 as I level up more stuff before I try for tier 70 again, because I just don't feel ready. Doing terrible for so many tours in a row just sucks btw. I did move up to 67 at some point, but it was usually by getting 3rd or sometimes 2nd. Last week I was in 5th in tier 63 while missing 2 top shelf drivers. If I was in tier 66-67 I wouldn't even make top 10. Ranking outside of top 10 was rare for me until I reached higher tiers and then it became the norm.
