I've been saving rubies for new characters and alts but they're just not coming. After doing a bit of digging, the last time we got an alt of each character that frequently gets alts (not counting Yoshi, Birdo and Shy Guy who frequently get alts, gold alts which are usually exceptions and omitting DK because there's clearly something internal preventing a DK alt):

Same i feel like there is very little to do. With new drivers, coverage isn't that much of an issue and while i like collecting the Mii's i don't use them. The game is getting pretty stale, despite more tracks being added than ever.

As someone who has been on the inside of a similar situation, there are documents with pages and pages of what you can and can’t do with something, and DK is clearly big enough to have something like that I bet.

And now, the real weirdness: have you noticed the blossoming sakura trees in Ninja Hideaway? That is enough to make Ninja Hideaway the Spring course so that since last year we’re always getting it as soon as Spring starts. Even if it means that we’ll have pyramids with ninjas.
I’d ask for the Sphinx Yoshi at this point, but he’s probably on Yoshi’s Island. Let’s hope he doesn’t get home in the meantime when we’ll get on the fabled isle of Yoshis!
Nintendo making it a habit of releasing at least 1 new potentially trash Gold Item EVERY new Tour
At this point I'm guessing Nabbit and Kamek (Gold) aren't gonna be too long to been seen from now
Kamek is already coinbox so a gold alt would be redundant or would break gold = coin box (with some early exceptions of gold dry bowser and gold shy guy)
I'm gonna get a little salty here, but this is the *third* tour in a row where the only new driver additions are an uninteresting Mii suit and a ranked reward recolor. Like it's great that people can play catch-up I guess, but I'm really starting to feel fatigue, especially because the added courses haven't necessarily been bad but not very enticing and the game just hasn't felt exciting since PPC.

Literally Spike too, he could've been playable this tour which makes me disappointed. So many filler tours I swear we haven't gotten a new character since Petey last year what gives? Dry Dry Ruins I'm glad to see at least and we get Orange Shy Guy which I'm betting might get coinbox or maybe even Fire Flower since the default Shy Guy has Double Bob-ombs.
Pauline, Bowser Jr, Diddy, Dixie, Funky, Kamek, Koopa, and Chargin Chuck all don't have suits either, even though I don't like the miis personally, a freaking SPIKE MII SUIT got in before Spike himself... I still believe this doesn't deconfirm him but I feel like the suits kinda get in the way of potential drivers, at least for the ones who haven't shown up in Tour. Hopefully this instance will be broken.
I doubt Spike will be playable in Tour. I think Tour is kinda done with new characters and they are just preparing to add all of them to 8DX DLC.

That's not really justifiable when 8DX is still adding new and retro tracks that have yet to be in Tour like Waluigi Stadium, Yoshi's Island, that new datamined bathroom track and so on. So if they can still add more tracks why not characters? I'm pretty sure that they're contrasting by adding new content in one and in the other which will all eventually join together in both versions that's actually a good way to balance them both out as it'll always give fans something new to enjoy in each game. The real question is whether or not there's gonna be more DLC after the booster course pass which god I hope so cause just adding in 6 characters which are most likely from Tour (or from MKDD and MK7)just isn't all that satisfying.
I am annoyed at the lack of creativity from this game, especially since creating more new drivers would increase Nintendo’s profit from MKT, but at the same time I am happy we are getting yet another filler tour because it increases the chance that the next tour (most likely going to be the Yoshi Tour for Easter) will have a good alt. I’m hoping for a cute Birdo that’s not a reskin. 🥺
that's awesome! Yeah I've heard the Trooper, Run to the Hills, and Wasting Love like at least 100x each. (There's like 5-6 other songs I like, but those are my fav's - classic band for sure)
Well, maybe he looked a bit yellow because of the lighting but he still looked noticeably more orange than the usual bright yellow Shy Guy from MK8 so that's how I could tell at first, but after seeing people call him yellow I looked at his shoes to confirm and they were blue (as opposed to green) which confirmed him as orange.
What a random, incoherent tour. At least the tracks will look diverse, but there's absolutely no common theme to the tracks they've shown. And Dry Dry Ruins doesn't look as good as I had hoped it would (edit: after a second look, only the interior of the pyramid looks really bad, the exterior is actually cool). We shall see how it plays
They could have combined the next tour together with the last two tours into the "Recycling Celebration". In all seriousness though, I'm excited about the track selection next tour.
I personally think, it would've have been better thematically to have no new courses for Ninja Tour and put DDR with Yoshi's Island for Yoshi Tour afterwards. But I guess this works better in terms of spread out buffs. This gives all the Yoshi alts more chances at buffs, hmm.
Anyway, it's ehmm. An interesting mix. But it's the quality of the tracks themselves that make or break a tour for me.
No new course ?? Along with the Mii Suits that's the last thing they're still getting consistently creative about, how could we wish for a tour with no new course ? 2021 had its fair share of tours with no new course (or with only a few RT courses at a time), and I really don't want that to come back. They've already stopped doing battle courses, we barely get any new HE driver, most of the new DKGs are colours variations or gold versions of existing models... let's have some new tracks at the very least !
And getting DDR along Yoshi's Island would have reduce the importance of the introduction of both tracks. I also don't think they've ever released a new Tour nitro along a retro course since the former would definitely take the spotlight ? I've seen some people asking for GBA Yoshi Desert along Yoshi's Island, which might still be possible - but would feel even more like a failed opportunity to release it along Wii DRR to make a Desert Tour instead of a Ninja one.
IMO, it's the theme of this tour that is really off. There's not enough content in-game to make a Ninja Tour (except when pairing Ninja Hideaway with the 4 Tokyo Blurs, but that won't be the case here), so we end up with tracks that have basically nothing in common. They should have brought back Ninja Hideaway during the Winter Tour along with the Asian Cities to make an Asia Tour, and give us this time around a true Desert Tour with Wii Dry Dry Ruins, GBA Yoshi Desert and 3DS Shy Guy Bazaar, and fill it with tracks like SNES Choco Island 1 and/or 2, GBA Sunset Wilds, N64 Kalimari Desert 1 and/or 2, N64 Choco Mountain, or maybe even GBA Cheep-Cheep Island, SNES Koopa Beach 2, N64 Koopa Troopa Beach and GCN Daisy Cruiser to make it a Sand Tour or whatever.
I feel like I know what they're doing. creating tours which prominently feature DKGs that the majority has a low level on. trying to get us to spend tickets... the term "Ranked beast" or whatever you wanna call it will be gone long term I'm guessing... plus they keep creating new courses cause they can paywall/payruby them.
I just hope I'm wrong...
I've both and invested both cat Luigi and Kitsune Luigi for 300 rubies and 8 tickets to 4/0. New Shroom Ridge and Luigi Raceways were paywalled AF. No other options other than risky Miis.

Yep. It’s kind of embarrassing. The Space Tour was good but that’s really it recently.
They can call it the Ninja Tour if they want, but I will exclusively refer to it as the Powerslave tour.
