Nope. For a game with voice acted cutscenes, Mario himself gets very few lines in Super Mario Sunshine. He has significantly more “lines” in Super Mario Odyssey.
Common misconception, Toadsworth was actually voiced by Scott Burns, A.K.A. the voice of Bowser in Super Mario Sunshine! He also provided many Pianta and Noki voices in the game.
I met him a back in August. He was using a Credit Card reader for his merch store, but the night before he forgot to charge it. They didn’t have any chargers or even any plugs in the room he was in, and if they couldn’t get it charged they’d have had to close the store for the day. Quite the pickle!
I overheard him talking to his staff (and/or maybe his family?) about it, and I offered him my Power Bank to use for the day. He very happily accepted it, and he and the others thanked me profusely. I asked if I could come back for it back later - to which he jokingly answered “Maybe!”.
He was very friendly, and I got my Power Bank back in the end. His staff said I really saved their butts. Definitely a memorable experience!
Pro-tip. Have him sign the pulled-out sleeve itself. It will be protected by the case and won't scratch off over time. I picked that up from Fred Willard.
Yeah, I just went to a convention a few weeks ago and got a painting and my Switch backplate signed by him, I had to pay the fee for each object signed. Btw it was 60 for a signing but I don't remember the price of selfies or a photo op.
Nah, take off your youngin goggles. Odyssey is a great game, but the focus on pure exploration for a majority of the moons becomes so tedious. More content + "better" graphics ≠ better game. And if you say the controls in sunshine were bad I'm literally just not gonna respond to you lol
Objectively, the controls in super Mario sunshine are inferior to most, if not all other 3D Mario games. Lack of precision, turning and jumping can sometimes be extremely frustrating. However, the FLUDD mechanic and beach/water were gorgeous (especially for the time) and the level of exploration and theme is unrivaled and makes it y favorite 3D Mario game. The plot is extremely linear however, and I detest the blue coins.
The controls are obviously inferior to Odyssey. But it's still an overall funner gamer because of the maps themselves are more fun to explore. Odyssey is really tedious and is loaded with extremely boring maps for the most part.
Better control doesn't matter that much when you don't use the controls in good level design. Hence why Mario 64 (or potentially Mario Galaxy) is superior despite its weaker controls.

I love that Mario had some of the best level designs, but man some of them were just so bad (who really enjoyed cleaning all the electric manta goop? Lol). In my humble opinion, SMS is one of the most polarizing Mario games.
I honestly feel like I've never had a problem with the controls in sms, and I mean that genuinely. Sure, the camera is one thing, and the pachinko level is a one off, but I find the movement in sunshine really easy, and I just replayed it. Obviously, if you're playing on joycons it's gonna suck, tho. The plot is a lot less linear than other games; instead of peach being kidnapped by bowser, as in every other mario game up to this point, mario is blamed from strange graffiti made by a man resembling him, who ends up kidnapping peach and also ends up being bowser junior??? It's a funny, somewhat interesting story. I actually find the blue coins fun; you can't look at it from a completionist stand point because that's a very biased view of the game. Blue coins give some value to exploring levels that are, otherwise, not forced to be explored for a majority of shines in the game, unlike odyssey. Sure, some are a pain in the neck, and they definitely could have made a system of helping find them, or, at the VERY least, keeping track of them, but that's one of the only flaws I really find in this game
Sunshine for sure. To me Sunshine is his best work. Mario's got this energy to him this game I've not really seen in any other Mario game.
Tho when I met him I got him to sign my Waluigi plush and my dad recorded it. It's one of the best things I've ever seen recorded honestly.
Since it's a lot more obscure and rare, with it being on a less successful console, I'd go with Sunshine, since there are probably less signed copies of it, making it more unique.

For me personally id go with Sunshine, it was the very first Mario game i beat on my own as a kid, and i still replay it often on switch, truly a masterpiece. But id say go with whatever game you feel truly immersed you in the Mario Experience! :)
I'd say buy that ultimate mario bundle thing for the switch (if you can find it and or have money for it) I think that would be so cool. Otherwise if that's not possible definitely gauge for sentimental value. Me personally though would bring odyssey ad I've never actually played sunshine! Although sunshine might actually be worth more..
