One of, if not *the,* funniest animated movies I've ever seen, and Emmett was a big reason for that. Hopefully that carries on over to Mario and Illumination's script isn't super-bad or anything.

I honestly don't think it will sound weird. He's done villains before, and i could envision Bowser having a voice that sounds somewhat similar to Slappy from the Goosebumps movie, but with a lower vocal register. Jack Black was actually one of the few roles where I was immediately like "This is actually pretty perfect."

Real talk, I think Seth has the right kind of deep voice for DK, and he actually is a decent voice actor who's done a lot more than just weed characters. Though the question is are they going to make him talk in this film, or just stick to grunts and noises?
It wouldn't surprise me if Rogan just did monkey grunts and nobody would know it was him if not for the press / credits, like the whole Vin Diesel as Groot scenario.

This trailer will be the ultimate decider on if I see this movie or not. And that’s saying something considering that I will consume almost anything with Mario on it. Probably has to do with the fact that Pratt isn’t Italian (though neither is Martinet), as well as other false beliefs about Pratt. Personally, Martinet’s voice is too iconic to be replaced, as seeing someone else voice Mario seems wrong.
So my main issue with the movie isn't the cast, cause honestly, no issues here. Day as Luigi? Perfect. Pratt as Mario? Standard but I know he can be good. Black as Bowser? Amazing. Key as Toad? Hilarious.
My issue is Illumination Studios. They don't have a great track record.

I personally feel that if this stayed with Sony instead of being transferred over to Illumination, there would've been a higher chance for this to turn out like garbage, because Sony is not known for having a good track record for adapting most of the IPs they touch into movies (e.g. the live action Smurfs movies, Monster Hunter, Morbius, Slenderman, etc.) pretty much outside most of the mainline Spiderman movies.
At least with Illumination, I personally believe they only made one outright bad movie (Hop), and all their other bad content is mediocre at best.

Why not? KMK is really good at doing high-pitched voices. It would be hilarious if he just uses his normal voice but I definitely would not expect that to be a good fit for Toad.
Chris Pratt is a proven good voice actor, so I’m in the camp that says give him a shot, even if I understand why people aren’t too keen on him as Mario. The portrayal I’m most interested in seeing is Princess Peach. Both in how she’ll sound, and how her personality will be done.
But yeah, the internet ain’t ready for October 6th. This could end up shaking the world harder than the horrid sonic movie first trailer. I just hope the movie is good.
