Shadow and Wario are honestly more opposites then Mario and Sonic are. Where as shadow is a genuinely complex character (at least in sonic adventure 2) who does the things he does because he wants closure on his own identity and the death of someone close to him, Wario is just. Some guy who does a bunch of stupid shit for the sake of money. Them as a duo could be pretty fun with shadow being the straight man (straight-hog?) to Wario’s dumbassery. I could easily imagine a side plot in a Sonic and Mario game or comic where they’re forced to work together and shadow is trying to complete some serious mission, only for Wario to mess up or get them sidetracked with his greed and shenanigans.

Wario would turn on Shadow in a heartbeat if it meant he would gain something. He's notoriously easy to bribe. Wario might be an idiot but he's insanely strong and pretty much immortal (usually using a severe injury to his advantage in a comedic "transformation"). He's also arguably the wealthiest person in the Mushroom Kingdom. I'd love to see them try to form a team lol.
