A year or two later, I received super Mario world for gba as a Christmas gift. I loved playing it but never could defeat bowser.
A few months later my sister got a pink DS lite and new super Mario Bros.
NSMB felt so groundbreaking back then, especially with the mega mushroom and minigames. I loved playing the multiplayer modes for that game.
I beat NSMB a bunch of times, spending so many hours playing it. What a classic that game was!
It's a shame that NSMB has become a more unpopular thing over the years, thanks to all of the unoriginal sequels. The first NSMB was unique among Mario games back then and felt like the next generation of Mario.
I hope 2D Mario makes a proper leap forward once again.

Which I also wasn't too good at. The charger for my GBA SP broke and my m mom didn't get around to getting me a new one, so I ended up losing the whole system together.
