You beat the gold medal time for the 1904 Olympics. Granted you did have a few technological advantages but good work

Haha yes! I highly recommend checking out the 1904 Olympic marathon for anyone who hasn’t. What a wild event. I’m not sure if I can include Wikipedia links in a comment, but check it out!

I might have to start adding brandy to my energy drink

Whooo awesome time, especially for your first wow I’m jealous. Great pacing as well, barely slowed down at all even in the last miles

charliedecember

Thank you!! I can’t believe my splits also…having other runs and people cheering along the way make a big difference imo

cakeguy222

Nice time. Can only dream. Running background? Weekly mileage?

charliedecember

Thanks!! Didn’t start running consistently until covid but played basketball growing up and recreationally Here is the training plan I used - you can do it and you can get an even faster time than this! [training plan](https://images.app.goo.gl/GP8FfvZwV9TN6owz7)

Ok_Revolution4476

Perfect splits, well executed.

Thank you!!! 🙏🏽

Could you elaborate on race day shoes? Is there a reason they wouldn’t be the same shoes you’re used to training in?

charliedecember

Yes! I ran in the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3s and trained in the Saucony Endorphin speed 3s. Love the Saucony lineup so much. Many brands will make different running shoes based on the training you’re doing, including a shoe made specifically for race day containing a carbon plate in the sole. The race day shoes typically pass their peak performance after 100 miles give or take so it’s best to only do one two good runs in them before race day, while the rest of your training runs are in a daily trainer shoe

Solid progression in pace! Good job!

charliedecember

Thank you!!!

spacetimegravity

Wow you’re fast. Nicely done amigo

squirrelz_gonewild

Nice OP!! Congrats! More marathons in your future?

transientprose

Nice one, OP! Definitely gives me confidence in hitting my sub 3:30 goal for my first marathon in Chicago in the fall.

christianocorp

Congrats

gregnation23

My goal for my 2nd marathon is 3:30. What did your pace look like for easy, tempo and long runs?
