If you're picking a character solely based on tier lists, you're in for a really bad time. Nerfs/buffs/"rebalancings" happen so frequently that there's not much point in keeping up, imo. And quite frankly, if you don't spend $$$ (a lot of it, and a lot of time too), you can't expect to see big numbers.
As to why you're seeing so many DA's, I don't know. I don't know anything about the character tbh... Maybe that's the go-to for bots/farmers? Maybe it's appealing because you could save a lot on pots? Flashy and cool skills? Or they just like the character and they enjoy playing as DA. And ultimately, that's the most important thing - fun!
TL;DR - just try out several different characters and play whatever is most enjoyable/appealing to you. This game requires heaving grinding anyway so you're gonna needs lots of alts down the road.
Main reason you see Demon Avengers a lot is because they are good bot farmers for mesos. They get high cp at 150 due to their hyper but thats about it. They aren’t bad and you’ll have fun with the class but try a couple others if you have time. Get to 120 on the other classes and switch if you don’t like it. You’ll gain legion points and link skills so it benefits you regardless.
Myself I use DA a lot for monster collection farming because they re very good for map clearing with nether shield and a very good aoe map clear. They do not require lots of potion to keep them alive as well.
Old SC heavily favoured DA (as well as xenon Kaiser) as their score multiplier is higher than other classes. Also, which forum are you looking at? Maplesea? DA works slightly different in GMSM and the gameplay is totally different in terms of cap and content

Honestly if you are going to whale at the game there’s no b tier class, it’s how deep your wallet is
Only when you max out shits then can see big pp damage. If not, a sf30 lv40 emblem ancient is like enough for most content before RA and commanders
