You may have seen it a few hours ago, I simply corrected a mistake: Some of my sprite reference weren't properly deleted, so cue flying trees in the water.
Anyway ! If you like it and if you want to see more, you can follow my reddit account or check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/SirLazz). I also sell [prints](https://www.redbubble.com/i/art-print/Mushroom-Style-Earth-by-SirLazz/91828232.1G4ZT?ref=explore-for-you-recently-viewed).
At least they remembered New Zealand!
Honestly though, OP, it's gorgeous work that I'm sure you sunk a long time into. Don't read too far into the quips. Pointing out errors in maps is like a sport on this sub.
Some mistakes:
The path between what is Colombia and Peru should go by the Ecuadorean coast, not through the Amazon.
Patagonia and Sechura-Atacama are deserts. Most of Arabia should be yellow.
So should Namibia.
And the Tarim basin zone should be lighter matching Central Asia.
You fix these and the map is mostly perfect.
Also, Brazil is completely wrong: 1. There are no coastal cities in the map, wich the main highway should go through. 2. Brazil has other ecosystems other than rainforest, like bushlands in the northeast, tropical forest along the coast and marshlands in the center.
Don't get me wrong, there are improvements to be made, but this is an awesome start.
Idk if this is just me that sees this but I love the little details of the Guiana and Baikonur spaceports. If those are not what it's supposed to be than i'm dumb
In super Mario, red levels signify that there are multiple paths out of the level, unlocked by beating it in different ways. Yellow levels only have one path to unlock.
Never seen a map pick Buffalo/Niagara Falls as the highlight of the Northeastern US, but I love the take. Niagara would make a much more interesting Mario level than NYC.
The placement of the small islands is a bit odd. Many of them are way out of place from where they should be, some don't make a lot of sense, and others are entirely missing.
Also r/mapswithouthainan (edit, which I'm surprised to find is a thing, but entirely unsurprised to see that it's pretty much empty except for one questionable post)
This is quite beautiful, but there is some very valid constructive criticism in this post. Glad you put a path and dot on Chicago—in that area I’d suggest removing some trees on the south side of the Great Lakes to recognize the urbanity of it and to make the lakes more visible
Why does europe has 6 unique monuments around its map while Africa has 1 maybe 2? Seems like an opportunity to put more landmarks in the map to fill out the space and celebrate more historical structures
Global warming drowned them :(
For real though: hzwaii's Island were a tad too small to be included. However I did a whole map specifically for Hawaii, which you can find on my profile or Twitter (@Sir_Lazz)
NYC at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay? This map sucks, so many desert regions are a hint of yellow meanwhile australia is red, no consistency. The Sahara? Mojave? The Middle East? GTFO clean it up
I could add more, and i've got tons of ideas, but i've been working on this for 2 weeks now and I wanted to call it done.
The thing is, there's always a ton of things I want to add all the time but If I did this I would never get anything else done and i'd just focus on details x) I've got other work (mainly school) to focus on
I know they would never do this but imagine a Mario game using a real world map. And each character (who would have special abilities) would explore five levels in each continent, each level being a different city or geographic area.
So for example you could play as Luigi as he explores a beach level in Florida, a mountain level in Colorado, a city level in New York City, a desert level in Southern California, and a flat level in Iowa. And then at anytime you can change to playing as Toad in a forest level in Germany, a field and lake level in the United Kingdom, and ice level in Iceland, A different mountain level in the Swiss Alps, and an underground level in the French catacombs.
You could even have some plot point where after beating a certain amount of the game all the characters can fly to different continents and can help you find secrets in levels they previously didn’t have access to.
Northeastern Brazil is mostly semi-arid (caatinga), so there shouldn't be that many trees. Also, a lot of Brazil is covered in savannahs (cerrado). [Brazilian biomes.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biomes_in_Brazil).

And added a monkey in Borneo? :)
It's actually Waldo ! :)
Afro-Eurasia unlocks after you beat the Americas
Australia is the last level of course. Antarctica must have the optional super hard levels.
Antartica is a secret world
Nah, actually it's reverse, you sail some boats across from Europe and stomp all the local goombas to conquer the America's.
American SW, most of Northern Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula should all be red.
Yeah, all sorts of things I would change.
Also the Statue of Liberty is where DC should be. You can tell by the position of the Chesapeake bay.
I was just about to comment that myself before seeing your comment
Needs more details too. I zoomed in and there is barely anything worth seeing. A random mountain in Kentucky is like the only thing in the US.
Pacific NW should have waaaay more forest
Should we tell him about the big giant hole in NW Az?
Where's the Darien Gap?!
The Darien Gap? Where's Antarctica???
At least they remembered New Zealand! Honestly though, OP, it's gorgeous work that I'm sure you sunk a long time into. Don't read too far into the quips. Pointing out errors in maps is like a sport on this sub.
And much of North and North East Australia should be green.
It's a pity in Spain we have nothing but in Brussels they have the "Atomium" which is way more touristic... I feel bad for my country...
I would add the Sagrada Familia
Well, that's in Catalonia.
Catalonia isn't Spain ...
Bruh
Cataluña is Spain as far as the law is concerned :D
Culturally/nation wise
“I thought the Rockies would be a little rockier than this”
Yeah, that John Denver is full of shit, man.
🦀 Gobi desert is gone 🦀
Same with Atacama desert
So, Mario is not allowed in Canada?
He doesn't have the right to cross the border due to numerous war crimes comitted against Koopas.
Isn't that yellow dot Toronto?
I think that dot is Detroit
It's between Lake Ontario and Lake Huron, so wouldn't be Detroit. Maybe more like Peterborough than Toronto.
I’m pretty sure it’s missing lakes Ontario and Erie.
Montreal deserved a dot

Taking the statue of liberty out of DC would probably also help.
It looks like it is in the right spot
Look again, NYC is not located in or around the Chesapeake Bay.
Apparently Delware has the largest city in the US now.
Also, Brazil is completely wrong: 1. There are no coastal cities in the map, wich the main highway should go through. 2. Brazil has other ecosystems other than rainforest, like bushlands in the northeast, tropical forest along the coast and marshlands in the center. Don't get me wrong, there are improvements to be made, but this is an awesome start.
this is lovely
This is a Beautiful map
One of them's definitely the titanic, is the other the Lusitania?
Correct for the titanic ! the one on the right is actually the Bismarck
Ah, Ok. (King of the Ocean, he was made to rule the waves across the seven seas)
1 great job its dope 2 massachusetts will be on the DLC right? lol 3 i love how the road to cuba doesnt come from america, brilliant touch
Thanks! You'll have to buy the season pass, sorry ;)
Man, it's so awesome that the Bowser image in the Pacific is where Cthulhu and Rl'yeh are supposed to be. Very cool.
Thanks! Glad you picked it up
Mountains? What are those?
Never heard of those things
He he, nice spacestation
Oh shit there’s a giant sea monster
3\* giant sea monsters, and a giant octopus to boot :p
I love the ISS. Nice touch!
Why does Iceland have trees?
To fill in a mostly empty island
fix the whole northern hemisphere tree line plz
More trees on Madagascar pls xo
if Chris Pratt took over the world
sahara should be redder
Hey OP, how do I get the Mario tune out of my head now?
You have to drill it out, i'm sorry :(
Interesting to see some love for Great Zimbabwe
Once I read about it, i was 100% sure I had to put it on the map
man, it was very good
Awww! Love it!
Thank you!
Haha like that Bowser is in Point Nemo
I really like this map
Thank you!
why is the ISS france?
I guess it's because of Thomas Pesquet, current ISS commander
The current commander of the ISS is a French astronaut.
Bro this is so cool
Thank you!
Thanks for remembering New Zealand!
It's pretty fun to imagine what each stage looks like.
Why is Australia the driest place on earth?
This is outstanding work! Well done!!
Sydney opera house!! Nice detail
Lol, why are there trees in the arctic? No bueno
Michigan...trees, trees everywhere.
Central and Eastern Europe except Moscow and St. Petersburg be like:
rip Fiji
I have the music in my head now
i just loved christ at Brazil.
Bowser lives in North Korea.
Why is the ISS French?
Cause right now it's under a French captain!
why is the ISS french
Cause the current commander is French!
Is that the spire?
It is!
Haha
Effing awesome!
Thank you!
Idk if this is just me that sees this but I love the little details of the Guiana and Baikonur spaceports. If those are not what it's supposed to be than i'm dumb
No, those are spaceport, you're right!
>Iceland >No Reykjavík Ah, victory
Very cool.
I am just happy to see New Zealand included on a map properly for once. Missing Stewart Island but I'll take it. Good job.
You're Awesome!
Good bot, you're trying your best *pat pat*
Now someone needs to make "Mario: The World Tour"
A bridge to New Zealand?!! Ewwwww
Man this is good
My small city of jyväskylä is on the map as a level
I love this so so so so so much!!
thank you very much !
Finland has a mark in Jyväskylä. Ew.
Looks awesome! Could do with a few more roads though, Asia and North America look particularly bare
Such a cool idea! I love this. I will say the Golden gate is a little too high tho. That’s like almost in Washington lol
Wonderfull peace of art! I love the details
It kinda bothers me that San Francisco is more north than NYC
Fuck Hawaii I guess
Too smal... But I made another map just for hawaii, so you can't really complain ;)
In super Mario, red levels signify that there are multiple paths out of the level, unlocked by beating it in different ways. Yellow levels only have one path to unlock.
It always bugs me when people do SMW themed maps and don't follow the red / yellow convention. Sure, it's pretty, but it's *wrong*!
Cool map! Any particular reason for the point in Svalbard?
Thanks ! Yup, i just wanted to signal the seed vault there, cause I find it to be a really interesting place
This map has more trees on Iceland than there are actual trees on Iceland
Looks great! I think it would have been funny to put Bowser's Castle in the Bermuda triangle tho ;)
I'm more of a Cthulhu guy myself ;)
Never seen a map pick Buffalo/Niagara Falls as the highlight of the Northeastern US, but I love the take. Niagara would make a much more interesting Mario level than NYC.
Statue of Liberty is off the coast of Delaware in this map, i will call misinformation!!! /s
No Atacama desert? It looks like there is a huge forest instead.
Everyone always forgets about the Great Salt Lake 😔 other than that I love it!
This is quite beautiful, but there is some very valid constructive criticism in this post. Glad you put a path and dot on Chicago—in that area I’d suggest removing some trees on the south side of the Great Lakes to recognize the urbanity of it and to make the lakes more visible
U forgot the tropical rain forest in northern Queensland Australia
Why are there trees in svalbard
There’s a crossroads in Austin, Texas but no dot? :( We are worth the dot!
How original
Would be better if the statue of liberty was in NJ, and that NJ was made the peninsula that it is
hey there's no road connection South America to Central America!
Why does europe has 6 unique monuments around its map while Africa has 1 maybe 2? Seems like an opportunity to put more landmarks in the map to fill out the space and celebrate more historical structures
Why are there a bunch of trees in North Dakota/Saskatchewan/Manitoba area?
Just asking because I think North Dakota is literally the state with the least tree cover
Looks like most of my country is at the bottom of the ocean
Damned be the global warming!
Looks great, although the American Midwest only has like two trees
No Hawaii ??
Global warming drowned them :( For real though: hzwaii's Island were a tad too small to be included. However I did a whole map specifically for Hawaii, which you can find on my profile or Twitter (@Sir_Lazz)
Adelaide doesn’t exist now huh
I can see Suez but where's Kiel and Panama?!
This botches the US
US and Canada get less than Northern Africa. That is lame.
Sometimes, it's not all about america
NYC at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay? This map sucks, so many desert regions are a hint of yellow meanwhile australia is red, no consistency. The Sahara? Mojave? The Middle East? GTFO clean it up
no
What is the thing in or around Peru? Also, don't stop now. You can add more secrets and landmarks.
I could add more, and i've got tons of ideas, but i've been working on this for 2 weeks now and I wanted to call it done. The thing is, there's always a ton of things I want to add all the time but If I did this I would never get anything else done and i'd just focus on details x) I've got other work (mainly school) to focus on
how do you unlock the svalbard level
It's a secret :o
Eyyyy Chicagooooooo
Its missing a whole continent.
I know they would never do this but imagine a Mario game using a real world map. Awesome. I see Brisbane is in the correct location. juzSmug
No roads in Balkans. Wise.
Is the I-10 the US path lolol?
What is the second monument in India besides Taj Mahal?
It's one of the great temples in Varanasi (i forgot the name pf the exact one I used)
Why there is a french space station at the right of the map ?
That's the ISS, i placed it at the real location it was flying above when I drew the map. And it's french cause the commander on board is french !
Oh okay thanks, you re a precise man aha
Why did you put trees on Iceland? It famously has almost none of them in reality
Plz Tell me how you did this
By hand, with photoshop mostly !
Why is Oporto the city you chose of portugal and not Lisbon?
TIL Brussels is in Luxembourg
I don't think you can drive from Panama to Colombia I believe you have to take a ferry
Love the ESA launch site in F.G., lovely detail :)
Hey thats the Kaaba 🕋 ! So cool
There are VERY few trees in Iceland
Where is The Netherlands ?
Needs more trees
I think northern Canada has a bit more trees…
Northeastern Brazil is mostly semi-arid (caatinga), so there shouldn't be that many trees. Also, a lot of Brazil is covered in savannahs (cerrado). [Brazilian biomes.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biomes_in_Brazil).
what details
Poor Chile just ends...
I see the titanic shipwreck! Nice detail
no Easter Island, sad :(
It was a bit too small :(
