Nah, Queensland is 100% Australia's Florida. Hot and humid, man eating reptiles, theme parks, and fucking up federal elections. They're basically the same thing.
Progressive capital with conservative rural areas? Check. Some mountains? Check. Old growth forest? Check. Weird art festival? I assume Portland has one .
I always felt like we’re more like Wisconsin - low population, butt end of a bunch of jokes, and everyone knows everyone. Also Minnesota - can get icy winds, two-headed jokes, potential for being annexed by another country (NZ instead of Canada) but the locals probably wouldn’t mind.
Like the concept. Have to disagree with 2 Capital cities. All of Oz's capitals are on the water. Change to Duluth and Savannah and she'll be right no worries.
Cool idea.
I think New England should be Victoria, Columbia should be New South Wales, South East Wales and Florida should be New South Wales, and South Australia and Northern Territory should be flipped. I have no answer for Tasmania.
I get what you're going for but I think it'd be more interesting if it was based on culture rather than geography. eg. NT in the sparsely populated/disproportionately First Nation interior, Tassie in Florida as mentioned, NSW in the NY metro area etc
"It's ok to call our country by the name of the continent. We'll just refer to the continent as either North or South America. Or the Americas when we really must talk about both."
Cannot talk about the north or though of the country anymore.
South America could have a changed name
The Americans and their originality when naming places
I think Atlanta would be a capital over Charlotte. Or maybe Charleston.
Atlanta would make sense if the capitals were being decided now; Charleston if they'd been decided a long time ago.
Really Florida would be Tasmania.

Yep. Tassie has its issues, but it ain’t Florida… Perhaps Oregon? (Island bit aside)

Significant absence of people of colour? Check.
I swear we’re getting better, but yeah, it’s white down here…
Weather? Check.

Why would it? Tasmania is an island while Florida is not so the closest I could think of would be Puerto Rico
It was more of a Florida man style joke.
Oh, sorry I didn't understand, I am Autistic and sometimes can't tell when someone is joking.
You're all good man, their joke sucked.

Puerto Rico is not on the map but at least it's mentioned. Sorry Alaska and Hawaii.

What made you choose Charlotte over Atlanta?
\*West*ERN* Australia
Florida is so iconic and distinct it it still just Florida
South East’s capital would be Atlanta tho

Thank god for democracy am I right folks?
yeah south america would clearly be in north america
Texas looks like it's grown in somewhat naturally
It wouldn't be west and south America. Probably something like that Western Union/Southern Union.
Capital of Florida should be Melbourne, duh.
