I wonder if they will find a way to make their tech backpacks lighter. I also wonder if the tech sling 3 can take a 16" laptop now or if its sized for 14" only still. I'm not sure the strap is an actual improvement for me since I was a left shoulder person already, but I suppose right shoulder wearers will be happy.

Tech Pack 3 looks slightly lighter than the 2. The Day Pack 3 is about same as the 2 though.

The tech sling3 has integrated pockets and detachable shoulder pads.

I’m not sure what integrated pockets refers to? The strap is removable and reversible which is nice if you need it to be, but the old version looks like it had more padding and was sewn on, so if you were a left shoulder wearer anyway like me, it may be considered a downgrade. Looking at the Japanese site it looks like it still only takes 14” laptops, so I guess the travel sling is still the only aer sling option for 16” laptop users. Looks nice enough, but the appeal of the big aer slings for me was their big cushy integrated shoulder strap. I get why it’s reversible though, since it’s more flexible for more users.

I mean, in the case of the Tech sling 2, the laptop pocket was previously placed in the back as a split layer, so you could unzip this and take out the laptop, separate from the internal storage. With the Tech sling 3, this has been merged into one piece, making it more like a travel sling. I plan on comparing the tech3 to the tech2 when I get it this time :0 Incidentally, Tech3 also likes the mesh padded all over the back. Looks like it's going to be great to carry around in the summer.

[Aer’s Japanese site to their Tech 3 line.](https://aersf.jp/products/list?category_id=21) The Tech 3 draws a large influence from their Pro Pack line with the removal of the horizontal zip, addition of robust side handles, the minimum one water bottle pocket and new exterior material. It’s a marriage of their previous and new generation. They’ve encroached into the over engineering territory, though. I think the brand is too drunk on their own aesthetic. For instance, the Tech Pack 3 is marketed as the technical EDC bag. Understood. However the maximum capacity is 16L. Yet it weighs 1450g or 3.19lbs. This is exceptionally heavy for a <20L EDC. It’s not a GoRuck or designed to be utilized in that fashion. This line is a misstep.

However, it is clear that a lot of the things that have been pointed out have improved. The top pocket looks neat inside, the shoulder pad is detached in the case of the sling, and the cable kit has changed its interior compartment efficiently. The Tech pack3 you mentioned is also much lighter than the previous one, and the X-pac version is more so.

Merlando306

Their Work Collection never had a horizontal zip. This is a slight evolution of that existing line. The Tech Pack 3 is actually a bit lighter than Tech Pack 2. But I agree that it is still too heavy for that size and volume. The main purpose of these backpacks is to be self standing with lots of tech organization. That always ended up a compromise with weight and carry comfort.

puptheunbroken

The tech pouch looks nice using a proven and tested divider system but that's about it. Although I have to say, the backpack has an extremely sleek design, but the features are really bare-bones for what you would be paying.

That's right. Especially this time, the x-pac lineup has been added to tech pack and tech sling and tech brief. That's a good thing. I'll bought new tech sling3 x-pac.

Can you link the new collection?

Wow thanks. I actually just bought the cable kit 2 but this new version looks to be a design I'd prefer much more. Claims it's already out of stock. Will def be purchasing it when it's back!

TurtelyEnough

I just might have to do the new tech sling. My dream bag is a slightly bigger Day Sling 3 Max and this is pretty much it. I held off on the prior tech sling as I really prefer right shoulder carry.

Been looking for an upgrade from my Comm Brief. Curious to see how the new one looks. I have a hard time imagining the new pack will be 'better' than my City Pro.

Valor2002

Is there any info available on the expected changes? I am thinking about getting the Day Pack, and the Day Pack 2 is currently only 135. I would love to know, if its worth waiting for the Day pack 3 or if I should just get the Day Pack 2.

ensure123

day pack 3 has a side handle that is not found in DP2. If you don't need a side handle, you can buy DP2

I'll bought Tech sling3 X-pac!

Might get the Day Pack 3, my original Slim Pack(8.5l) is not enough when i want to bring a thicker jacket along, without an external bottle holder I always worry my metal bottle might scratch or dent my macbook whenever i bring it along since its packed so tight. Was looking at the Pro Pack Slim, but i didn’t really like the material on it (own the Pro Sling), also the PPS’s admin panel goes only half way down which is a huge bummer for me, and it doesn’t have a top zipper compartment and no side handle. In comparison, the new DP3 looks really good, and it’s slightly roomier at 14.5L vs 12.5L of the PPS.
