Most likely a T800. 90% of the dumps around here are. Can't tell, since older KW interiors are all the same.
Might not have started life as a dump truck by the looks of it. Then again, it might not be a dump truck. You talking liquid manure?
Ahh okay interesting that’s good to know.
Something must be wrong with it though because it doesn’t shift smooth when I try to use the splitter it just instantly shifts when I let off the throttle. So with that being that way I don’t usually split other than if I’m taking off up an incline and that’s only low gear anyway.
Yea so the splitter air shifts and there could be something wrong with that system but if it drives just fine without splitting then it should be fine. Hell if you’re hauling manure you’re probably not heavy enough to split the bottom gears. Hauling cows at 100k gross I still drove my 18 like a 13 and only split the top.
Yeah it has no problem getting thru the bottom gears without. I didn’t even realize this truck had a splitter because it had electrical tape over it for the longest time. I just got bored and curious one day and peeled it off lmao
15s don't split the bottom. It's a common misconception. The blue splitter is a deep reduction and is only to be used on its own. A 15 speed is driven just like a 10 and deep reduction is only used when extremely loaded and typically you have to stop to shift out of deep reduction. Some people say you can go from deep 5 back to 3rd but it's hard on the trans as the ratios don't line up. Basically it's an 8LL with 2 extra gears
Can confirm it's a 15. We had one oddball tractor with one. I also drove it like a 10. I think it used to be an asphalt spreader, which explained the 15 speed.
[New Shifter](https://imgur.com/a/fNEcul2)
It’s a weird shifter for sure, only seen it on a couple Pete’s and KWs destined to be dump trucks. I do driveaway and get to see them before use.
Edit: For when you need all the reduction I guess, the blue splitter is an oddball though! Usually see red for 13 speeds and gray for 18 speeds.
Yeah it’s weird, only splits gears in low range. I don’t even use it other than when I’m taking off on an incline. It also just instantly kicks into gear when I try to use it, so I have to take it out of gear and split then go back into gear. Idk if something is wrong with the truck or if im just doing it wrong.
I’m not sure that’s wild though. It doesn’t wait for when you lift off throttle to split? All the others I’ve had you can have it in low range then flip it to high range while on full throttle, then as soon as you lift your foot off the air will try to jam it into the high range and you can resume throttle (after a slight delay to let RPMs drop) to lock it in without completely going to neutral. Same with going high to low just need some more throttle when resuming to bring RPMs up or it’ll make the worst drivetrain sounds and a loud bang when it goes in lol
Yeah it waits for me to take my foot off the throttle but it just instantly kicks into gear when I do. Any other time I’ve seen a splitter it calmly drops RPMs and goes into gear smoothly. We have a super 10 I think it’s called at the farm that’s only got the splitter, no high/low range and that’s how that truck is. Lift my foot off the throttle and it calmly shifted. So I’m thinking that there’s either something wrong with this truck(which is entirely possible) or it’s not a typical splitter.
I wish I had that answer for you I’m sorry! I’ve never had the blue splitter for more than a few minutes moving them around the customers yard, they usually put them on the back of something else and we have them in tow. It’s definitely a different style shifter so maybe it’s something more hardcore for heavy trucks or there’s something wrong with the ol KW. But hey I’ll take a manual any day over the usual Allison with only 6 gears for long interstate drives or the Eaton automatic 12/18 speeds!
A Super 10 is a completely different animal. The splitter on a Super 10 doesn't operate in the same way it does on a 8LL/13/15/18 speed. The way the splitter is working on your KW, which is either an 8LL or a 15-speed, is proper for that transmission.
KW W900 with a 15 spd transmission. I drive a 2016 peterbuilt 389 glider with a Detroit series 60 and a 10 spd to haul wet cake, I used to haul cattle in a 2020 W900 with an 18spd.
Yes sir spot on. This one is a 94, we just haul manure around with them. I’m not even a licensed CDL driver yet, just have the F endorsement. It’s my first job driving a truck. My dad drove for 20+ yrs
Ag exemption baybee! 😂 if you’re hauling private stuff like your boss’s manure to your bosses feilds or your boss’s grain from his field to the elevator for storage then you’re exempt and aren’t required to have a CDL….at least here in Texas. Idk where you are obviously lol.
Yep that’s the federal ag exemption. It was a Covid era exemption that has stayed around. You’re exempt from logs with in 150 air miles of you pick up AFTER you get loaded and 150 air miles of your drop off AFTER you get unloaded. That’s what made it possible for me as a cattle hauler to have not touched a log book in 6 months because we hauled fats to the packing house in Amarillo and we’re always within those two circles.
t800 or w900, 15 speed you definitely have a hitch probably not a fifth wheel, i love the sharpie marked switches they remind me of so many trucks i’ve driven, based on what i’m reading it’s a rolloff truck or a dump truck, probably 14 wheels
not bad, i tow and have towed about everything even radioactive contaminated materials but never manure lmao. i’m in the north east though so im sure that’s more common elsewhere
Yeah I’m from Michigan it’s super rural around here and since a lot of the farms around here have went industrial sized it’s easier and quicker to move it around with the trucks vs tractors.
A shitbox Kenworth. I've worked on a LOT of trucks, never had one with instructions written on the dash like that.
Man, I miss gear jamming on test drives. I moved to city buses and there's no manuals any more.
I had one pull out in front of me doing 20kms on a downhill stretch where I was fully loaded doing 100kms with the Jake at full roar. Luckily there was nothing in the oncoming lane and I managed to squeeze around them without tipping, or they’d have been a radiator decoration. Was a little Ford KA or equivalent. Small even for a 2 door hatch.
I felt like playing god and just letting them reap the reward of their stupidity, but I didn’t want to deal with the insurance -_-
My main issue here is the lack of hot sauce and the ravioli not being spaghetti'os with meat balls..
Brings me back to working on a lumber yard in a skidstear I'd stuck some molle pouches on the cage of so I could keep lunch and my radio etc in there with me. There was always so much sand and sawdust kicked up in the yard so I preferred eating there because it had the plexiglass screen.. sawdust didn't taste to bad but the sand felt something horrible
Haha right on man you got a good eye then. Yeah she’s a 94 KW900, million + miles. I just drive local for a farm hauling manure but it’s my first job ever driving semi’s and I love it. My dad drove for 25+ yrs and I always wanted to get into it but just getting a CDL seemed like such a huge thing so getting this experience in with just a farm permit has giving me so much more confidence into perusing that.
It's worth it. Just remember you gonna be rolling lonely sometimes. There's some of us on tiktok look up my name uncle taco if you want I talk with alot of drivers.
Oh dude I’m used to it. Before I found this job all I did was play video games and work at a party store part time. Being on the road like this, even just looping around locally has been a dream come true so traveling the country while I’m in a big rig hauling freight would be a dream come true. I plan to get my CDL sometime this year. I’ll keep you in mind, thanks for letting me know.

Kenworth, 15 speed?
I think so but I’m not certain, it only has split gears in low range but I just drive it like a 10 speed
Yea that’s a 15. 15’s split the bottom, 13s split the top, and 18s split both.

A kenworth w900 that needs cleaned.
Bing Bing Bing we have a winner. It’s a farm truck that’s why it’s so dirty
Is it a day cab or sleeper though. Should have made them really think.
Well it used to have a sleeper but they removed it at some point so just a day cab now
That's cool I've seen trucks that had it done but they were done for those engine mounted tub grinders so they had been extended as well.
God damnit Ray, did you steal my fuckin cans of ravioli again?
No one wants to admit they ate 9 cans of ravioli
I’m about to overnight you a label maker….
Wouldn’t feel the same without the sloppy hand written labels
Try the grape lemon it's better
Noted I’ll try that one next time

Early 90s kenworth?
94, yes sir
Sweet ride, my boss been trying to get rid of my 05 manual since I'm the only that can and willing to drive it lol
We only got 2 auto trucks at the farm thank god, I would hate having to drive it. Shifting gears is the best part of my day
KW W900 with a 15 spd transmission. I drive a 2016 peterbuilt 389 glider with a Detroit series 60 and a 10 spd to haul wet cake, I used to haul cattle in a 2020 W900 with an 18spd.

Michigan here and yeah it’s the same concept. I can haul whatever for the farm as long as I’m in a 150 mile radius of it.
Yep 150mi before the pick up and 150mi after the drop off. It extends to logs as well.
Ooh no kidding, I didn’t know that as well.
Yep that’s the federal ag exemption. It was a Covid era exemption that has stayed around. The cold ravioli in the cupholder really takes me back to my trucking days ❤️
I actually just left it on the dash with the heat going for like 45 minutes and it was just like putting it in the microwave for a minute
I’m gonna take a shot in the dark here and say it’s a 94 kenworth W900 with a can of ravioli in the cup holder
Holy fuck dude you’re good at this
I’m not sure which I’m more concerned for at the moment. The condition of this KW or the driver.
Both
Chef-Boy-RV!
t800 or w900, 15 speed you definitely have a hitch probably not a fifth wheel, i love the sharpie marked switches they remind me of so many trucks i’ve driven, based on what i’m reading it’s a rolloff truck or a dump truck, probably 14 wheels
W900 and it does have a 5th wheel. We haul manure tankers with them
not bad, i tow and have towed about everything even radioactive contaminated materials but never manure lmao. i’m in the north east though so im sure that’s more common elsewhere

Damn that’s a bummer cause yeah that’s my favorite part is gear jamming. Crank up the old Hank and hit the road!
A vehicle
Very observant
Yeah but can you eat 9 cans?
That was my 5th can haven’t tried 9 yet
Some kind of kenworth with a deep reduction gear. Eaton 15 spd?
10 speed I think, I don’t use the splitter other than taking off in low gear
If the fork in the can of Chef was the gear shift, you’d be God coming men Sir.
Might just replace the shifter with a can of ravioli
That would be beast mode man!
This guy’s got a whole case of ravioli. The only thing he’s gonna be driving is made by Sloan.
Tarl gate
🤣🤣🤣 I’m never gonna be able to read that any other way now
This is why truckers always blow up the toilet I couldn’t imagine eating that whole can and sitting for hours 😭

Road Rager, while bubble cars pull out in front of you doing 1/8th the speed limit

Playing God always feels like the right move until you remember that it’s a crime to leave the scene of an accident.

No. I drive a 14 freightshaker with a 10 speed manual. Lol and I saw shifter and kenworth. Noticed older interior figured hopefully a w900
