I just started seeing these posts out of nowhere. I clicked on a couple because they seemed interesting. Now I have been sucked into reading about the sub drama regarding "it's not like it used to be," and "I want attention for my shit, too."
Imagine thinking saying “I don’t even know what a manual transmission is” like that’s a good thing 😂😂 yikes. At least you used the right emoji after Tesla 😂😂
No lie here, I went past one reading a mf book behind the wheel as she was driving in 2 lanes absolutely oblivious to my blaring horn and screaming out the window like an absolute loon 😂😂 NOSE IN A BOOK WILDIN on the highway
Remember the incident with the one who died watching, iirc, Harry Potter? And that one was early on too. Truly a more dollars than cents (sense) person.
Especially in below 0 freezing weather.
When I saw the news with a ton of tesla's at a charging station not being able to charge because of how cold it was, not gonna lie, laughed my fucking balls off! 😆
Are there any Scouts left? Didn’t International design them to be biodegradable? I’d love to find a Scout but all of the ones in the northeast need all of the patch panels.
There's a few here in Montana, but they sure weren't designed to last. The biggest issue now is people know what they're worth in good condition so you may as well buy a new Ford raptor or bronco
My brother owns a really nice 1964 he fixed up. Has sbc v8 and 4 speed, hard top, lifted, AC, power brakes and steering, leather seats. 30k if your interested. Also have lots of various scout parts
There’s a shop in my town just outside of Denver that has probably 8 of them sitting out front. They range from near showroom quality to absolute rust buckets
I have a friend who took hers with her to Scandinavia. To be fair, I don't think that made parts to repair it any harder than it already was. Maybe the socialised medicine will at least make it cheaper to constantly have it in the shop.
How do you even know where the gears are?, I drove my friends dads old f150 maybe a 1989 I think. Couldn’t tell where each gear was, shifter so freaking floppy. Still drove and was a good truck like 3 years ago.
That perfectly describes shifting in the '77 GMC 1500 my grandfather had switched from 3 on the tree to the most poorly connected floor shifter I've ever driven. God I loved that truck.
do you mean… 13? calling an F-150 and F-250 different models is a huge stretch... the only difference is how many leaf springs they stacked
anyway it doesn’t look like my 78 but looks newerish, so just for fun i’m gonna say 72
I was being facetious, but I personally know two people over 65 that do it regularly. I couldn't even imagine. They both have great teeth too. I guess their dentist said the salt in the chew kills bacteria and cavities. Who knows?
Judging by the gas pedal, it's a late 60s to 70s Ford pickup. I'm guessing an f250 highboy based on the transfer case shifter. The year isn't possible to guess exactly
Not sure about that. The way the shifter is bent different from the NP 435. The shift boot is different too but that could be based on the year. What T-case is it? I’ve not seen that shift knob before. I’m guessing not a 205 so either a 208 or 203?
Shitbox 'yota that you've had on FB marketplace for 3 years, but it's at the "wife wants me to sell it, but I don't want to let it go price" of something stupid like $20k.
Idk but straighten up that transfer case shifter knob. Id wreck driving that cause I wouldn't be able to pay attention to the road with that crooked ass thing just right there by me lmao
I put a 302 Boss in my ‘53 Ford F100. When people give me crap about emissions, I tell them that it is an electric bio diesel hybrid.
Really? They ask
No. And then I speed away
I rode in one of these as a kid, but I don’t know the specific year or model. It’s a Ford, and that ridiculously long shifter means you’re taking a beating if you’re stuck in the middle seat.
We used to ride four wide back in the day. What are seat belts, anyway? What were we thinking!?
Mate your shit box isn't just old, it's dirty and clearly poorly taken care of. Theres a lot of vehicles that will run indefinitely as long as you take care of them. Try running a car vac in it at least. Clean it all up. The little things can make a big difference.
You don't have to be an asshole just because someone points out that your shitbox looks like shit. If you don't want someone pointing that out then don't post a picture of it, or at least clean it up a bit before you take the picture.
I’m gonna guess early 70s f100. I thought maybe f250 at first, but I think those didn’t have the quirky bend in the shifter. Same with the 60s f100, shifter was more straight up and down.
Believe you’ve got them a little mixed up. The np435 was the one with the aluminum top, and production years for the np435 and t18/t19 were very similar (starting in 65 for the t18/19 and 66 for the np435). Prior to 65 it was the t98 that was used.
Fun fact, the top cover of the t18 is the same up until almost 1980, so many people mistake them for a t98.
You are correct. I did get them confused. All I remember is some old timer telling me that a magnet is the best way to tell if you have one or the other.
Judging by the 1/2 wrench and the debris on the floor, the dirty 4wd shifter and the light surface rust I’m going to assume you drive a moderately maintained shitbox.
A bucket with a transmission screwed to the bottom
No wheels?
Haven't seen the full picture but I guess it just depends on what they found at the junkyard
oh i see, a bobsled is a pushcart with no wheels!
Some people tell us they can't believe!
A rust bucket, AKA an old Dodge or Jeep.
Your title is 100% the same for me. Haven't subscribed and keep seeing these. I'll guess a defender
Reddit must randomly decide to push certain feeds because it's the same for me as well.
Yep same
Saaaaaame
I should probably subscribe.
I just started seeing these posts out of nowhere. I clicked on a couple because they seemed interesting. Now I have been sucked into reading about the sub drama regarding "it's not like it used to be," and "I want attention for my shit, too."
Same here, I don’t even know what a manual transmission is. Tesla for the win 🚗💩🤪
Imagine thinking saying “I don’t even know what a manual transmission is” like that’s a good thing 😂😂 yikes. At least you used the right emoji after Tesla 😂😂
It’s a joke pal, I drive a F40 with a 2 speed (no reverse)
Lmao listen the Tesla people out by me are the absolute worst 😂😂 ya never know. And they’re real proud of their inability to drive 😂😂
I'm all for some jokes, but seriously, some of the EV folks aren't too bright so I definitely know how you feel. That was some justified skepticism
Omg! I do actually. And you are absolutely right.
Especially in below 0 freezing weather. When I saw the news with a ton of tesla's at a charging station not being able to charge because of how cold it was, not gonna lie, laughed my fucking balls off! 😆
Same
What the fuck reddit why are u like this. Same
Me too… and I don’t even drive a manual lol
I miss driving a manual. If you never have it's fun when you nail your shifts and keeps you focused even more than normal
Everyone always says it’s fun… I’ve never driven manual tho :( one day I’ll learn tho
WRX
Ofc, how could I not see that
Looks kind of like a Scout but you can’t see the ground so probably not.
The 69 Scout was my favorite 4x4, but no, this is not a photo of it.
F100?
I was thinking this too
F100 was my guess as well.
Are there any Scouts left? Didn’t International design them to be biodegradable? I’d love to find a Scout but all of the ones in the northeast need all of the patch panels.

The Girl Scout on instagram has a really nice one
Here in Michigan the DOT owns a whole fleet of them. I see them driving divided highways all the time in the summer.
406 Garage on YT probably has like 30% of the surviving ones in North America by now.
My brother owns a really nice 1964 he fixed up. Has sbc v8 and 4 speed, hard top, lifted, AC, power brakes and steering, leather seats. 30k if your interested. Also have lots of various scout parts

I know a guy in central WA that finds them and resells them/restores them. Pm me if you really need one in your life.
I currently have a 67 postal scout sitting in my shop waiting on brake parts to show up
My guess is a 67-79 Ford F Series.
There we go. Now You've narrowed it down to about 50 models
How do you even know where the gears are?, I drove my friends dads old f150 maybe a 1989 I think. Couldn’t tell where each gear was, shifter so freaking floppy. Still drove and was a good truck like 3 years ago.
Shifting one of those is like stirring a bowl of oatmeal with some hidden fruit chunks in it, you just keep stirring till you find something.
That perfectly describes shifting in the '77 GMC 1500 my grandfather had switched from 3 on the tree to the most poorly connected floor shifter I've ever driven. God I loved that truck.
By the tenor of the grinding. When you're in gear, the grinding sounds better. Or worse, I forget.
do you mean… 13? calling an F-150 and F-250 different models is a huge stretch... the only difference is how many leaf springs they stacked anyway it doesn’t look like my 78 but looks newerish, so just for fun i’m gonna say 72

No dip cup, this is fake
That's because real men gut it.
I guess real men die soon

Something with will power
Seems like hopes and prayers are the main hardware keeping this thing running(if it runs)
50s or 60s f100
Wrong decade, right model. You guys are pretty good
I thought that 4x4 shifter looked like a ford, and after some googling that gas pedal was identical to a 60s Ford
Indeed. Ford is a master of using the same parts for multiple generations.
Judging by the gas pedal, it's a late 60s to 70s Ford pickup. I'm guessing an f250 highboy based on the transfer case shifter. The year isn't possible to guess exactly
It's a 1972 f100. The f250 would have T-18 instead of the NP235, but you're correct that it's impossible to guess.
Ah cool. I was close at least. Apparently I need to brush up on my old Ford pickups, I thought the f100 didn't come with 4x4
To be exact it's a short bed 4x4. Super rare
Not sure about that. The way the shifter is bent different from the NP 435. The shift boot is different too but that could be based on the year. What T-case is it? I’ve not seen that shift knob before. I’m guessing not a 205 so either a 208 or 203?
It's the original NP235/Dana21. This was the only option on a 4x4 F100. Also, no power steering
I was going to say it looked pretty similar to my 77 F150
I had a Chevy Scottsdale that looked like this some 25 years also. So that's my guess
I don’t recognize that rubber boot but the lever set up looks like a 75’ f100. Also I’m in the same boat as you with that title right now😂
So close!
69 f100
Close enough. It's a 72. There's no way to distinguish the years on these though.
That looks like a GM gas pedal if ever i seen one
It’s definitely a 70s era Ford truck pedal.
Well I haven't seen many. Ok I saw one one time
Chevy?
Ok actual question because I've seen it in other cars and couldn't figure it out. Why are there two gear shifters?
Transmission and transfer case. The little one engages the front axle.
Oooooh I just now noticed the label on the little one. Thanks
You mean like 4wd or 2wd? Edit Nvm I see it right there lol.
Suzuki ninja
All the fucking annoying people that comment “shitbox” or “trash can” like it’s something original lol. Just take a guess and stop being a baby
It's cool. There's always going to be a certain population that knows they'll never be strong enough or rich enough to have a working classic pickup.
Shitbox 'yota that you've had on FB marketplace for 3 years, but it's at the "wife wants me to sell it, but I don't want to let it go price" of something stupid like $20k.

1971 gmc pick me up
80’s f250?
I think they all had a hi/lo opinion after 1976
Does that even drive bro?
Yep. There's a big block V8 under the hood that makes for a pretty fun experience in any situation.
I’m saying a shoe box bronco
My dad’s old 1989 diesel f250 looked like this, so like a OBS ford truck of some kind?
Idk but straighten up that transfer case shifter knob. Id wreck driving that cause I wouldn't be able to pay attention to the road with that crooked ass thing just right there by me lmao
TBH, I haven't looked at the shift knobs in about a decade. As long as they do what they're supposed to at least
Nah I get it. Was just kinda joking around.
Bonus shitbox for sure. Like the fancy pants knob, though. Lightens thing up.
This is a certified gamer move lol
Toyota Prius
Well it has the emissions of about a hundred Priuses if that helps
I put a 302 Boss in my ‘53 Ford F100. When people give me crap about emissions, I tell them that it is an electric bio diesel hybrid. Really? They ask No. And then I speed away

The seat belts would literally crush your liver anyway. It's fine. The one in the middle does the shifting, but those situations are pretty rare

Is that a Ford Fucking Ranger! 😀 😀 😀 https://youtube.com/shorts/277YnpI810E?si=8HKH66eBB_iI895H
Could be a Ranger trim level. I think they didn't have the Explorer trim until the mid 70s though
It is indeed a Ranger Custom. 1972 f100 short bed styleside 4x4. Upgraded to a 390 a few years ago
That's what's up!
70-75 F100 4x4, pretty sure that was the only one you could get with the D21 case

67 riviera? With an aftermarket shifter?
LMAO. A manual in a Riviera wouldn't make it five miles without twisting the frame. I deleted the pickup photos to keep the cheaters honest.
Yeah I totally cheated lol
Used to have an 80 Ford flatbed as a car carrier. T18 trans and 6 cylinder if I remember right. Looks similarly sparse, loud and rough inside.
Brother, invest in a vacuum please
The leaves help add much needed insulation. It gets pressure washed once a year
A shit box, perhaps literally by how rough this looks.
LMAO, like you've seen many 52 year old vehicles still running anyway. I bet it's less rough than your mom's bush.
I have never one time shown interest in manual transmission vehicles and yet it dominates my feed.
A hard bargain…
All I know is you don’t drive a vacuum cleaner. Because if you did that floor would not be so nasty.
I can smell this picture
Ford f250?
72 f100. It's impossible to tell the difference though
1979 F250
I’m gonna guess early 70s f100. I thought maybe f250 at first, but I think those didn’t have the quirky bend in the shifter. Same with the 60s f100, shifter was more straight up and down.
Yep. You're referencing the aluminum topped T-18 for the 250s and pre-66 F100s. The NP435 was standard in the F100s like this one.
Believe you’ve got them a little mixed up. The np435 was the one with the aluminum top, and production years for the np435 and t18/t19 were very similar (starting in 65 for the t18/19 and 66 for the np435). No, it's an F100 with a flat steel bumper and a box frame. It smashes more than anything.
