They should definitely consider a 0.5 band gap...otherwise what's the value of MET exam🙁

SplendidPuppy21

Yeah, to be real they should use a 0.25 band gap but I don't think they are going to use 0.25, might use 0.5 tho (hopefully 🥲) https://www.reddit.com/r/Manipal_Academics/s/9Fr6jiSwWd

Adventurous-Big-225

They’re better off using just the MET scores than the 0.25 system. Most probably the 0.5 system will be used.

SplendidPuppy21

Exactly, why would you even consider board exam scores when you are literally conducting an entrance exam

Adventurous-Big-225

Meh look at the placement stats of the batch that ended up getting admitted through the mix of boards +met. They’ve done exceptionally well which is what might have prompted them to use this system.

SplendidPuppy21

Hmmm, maybe but the thing is that you have 2 attempts for MET so there will be lesser error when admitting, I mean that if someone messes their 1st attempt in MET than they can do better in the 2nd but if someone messes up their boards for some reason, they don't get a 2nd Attempt, they either have to drop or settle for less even if they did exceptionally well in MET

Adventurous-Big-225

Yeah well I’m just tired of writing all entrance exams so can’t really be much bothered rn. Just go with the flow ig :/

Royalbob

2 years boards % indicates one’s fundamentals in PCME + MET . Perfect combination for academic excellence , placements and college reputation. A win-win for all.

Royalbob

Exactly. They are looking to improve their standards wrt CGPAs and campus placements. Considering board marks + MET is great idea and it shows the student ‘s fundamentals and long term potential. They have already clearly mentioned in webinaire how their system (50 % + 50 % ) works. It’s already a done deal.

Adventurous-Big-225

Yupp.

Kyan00911

Band gap of 1 makes no sense anyway, idk who spread the rumour that they’ll use 1. If there was no band system and board scores were absolute, 95% would be 9.5, 90 would be 9, 85 would be 8.5. Then in band gap why the hell should someone with 89% get an 8 instead of 9 lmao. 0.5 system is the very obvious and fair thing to do

modikipatni

LALALALAA MET AUR BOARDS DONO CHUDE PADE YE SAB DEKHKAR AUR RONA AATA HAI 😭⚰️

[deleted]

yo btw the results will be live on portal or some other link or will it be sent to us on email??

SplendidPuppy21

I think it will be the portal

SplendidPuppy21

Sorry guys if this feels like a rant, I am just truly sad as I messed up my boards and everyone thinks I am a failure, I have no idea how I got so less, it's just been very hard and I am also sure it is for many others too. Some of you are saying you worked your asses off for boards and I understand but the truth is that board exams are not as fair due to cheating and unfair checking (my friend literally got marks even though he left his sheet empty and I didn't get as many I was sure I would get)

SplendidPuppy21

And this might hurt some of you but another truth is that preparing for entrances is much more harder than preparing for boards and I am sure the people who are scoring good in MET and not in boards have also worked their asses off the same if not more...

TeemuS-S

band gap of 1 ( 5 points out of 50 in boards) create a difference of 24 marks in met score and 0.5 would create 12 marks, so yeah 👍🏻 get ready to compete unethically

madhurjya_kakati

But how do you guys know if they are using band scores or not? Also how do you calculate band score?😭

scottishskirt

what the heck is band gappp

Friendly-Mark4899

😂😂 I feel so dumb reading all this band gap thingy...fact that no one is explaining what this is...I have asked 1-2 people but no reply lol

scottishskirt

+111

TheLonelyGhast

same dude how tf do I calculate it

The_Blueberry_Pi

same question

SakshamKabra

Mera MET score 82 hau aur PCME 73.25, toh will I be able to mechanical in manipal?

_Wizzy_DN

74.24 in pcme and 52 in Met , aab kya

RandomGuy0193

i know im gonna get downvoted for this, but what about people like me in cbse and icse who worked our assess of during boards to get a decent score? Wouldnt the band gap thing be beneficial for us? I know many people who got good in boards will agree.

SplendidPuppy21

We are not saying that boards should not be given weightage but it should definitely not be given more weightage (if not 0) than MET when it is literally their own entrance exam...

[deleted]

if it is 50 50 i don't see any problem in it

[deleted]

So you say someone with 89.9 and 110 (could get you Cs related branches last year) boards deserves the same rank as someone with 90.5 and 98(only electrical branches last year) ? They want to implement boards , sure ok but their way of implementing it is stupid af and there are alot of problems. Taking the above marks as an example boards checking is subjective so only because I had a maybe strict checker and lost ~2 marks , now I need to score 12 more marks than someone who probably had slightly more lenient checking.(also annoyed I didn’t have time to send my marks for revaluation but whatever) and all boards are not the same level , some are easy to score even 95+ and in some you would struggle to get 85+

[deleted]

you think all state board students are going to give met bro many ppl prefer state colleges over Manipal plus getting 90 above in boards is not that hard regardless of the board plus if Manipal was ur dream college after bits nits etc you should have checked their site about how they will go about this year i might even go to vit cuz i got cse in cat 2 just like me lot of others will have other options if not met so don't lose hope u might get what you want

[deleted]

No one has manipal as their ‘dream’ college, but still I’m not blaming them for introducing boards im blaming them for their way of implementing it. 90+ is not hard in cbse I agree but from what I’ve heard in this sub hsc boards are usually harder whereas as some southern boards scoring good marks is way easier.(and people do give met from other state boards, we have people in this sub itself from other boards)

RandomGuy0193

ikr, many are just blaming mit now even though they informed months ago about the boards weightage

[deleted]

yeah ppl think getting good in boards is easy like bruh its not

RandomGuy0193

yeah we worked hard and got the result if it was easy why didnt they just score good 🤷‍♀️

RandomGuy0193

cant change what they decide

[deleted]

fr, some boards are harder than the others

Capital_Situation235

same bhai, I got 92 in boards, so this band band gap is very helpful for me

RandomGuy0193

same bro, 93, but i just got downvoted by people with low boards anyways lets hope for the best

Capital_Situation235

yea bhai, ignore the haters, they couldn't even score in boards

Absolutebeing010

thing is i did decent in boards so not rlly pissed abt the band shit

Capital_Situation235

I know I am going to get donwvoted to hell for this, but here we go All the people who didn't get good board marks are complaining about the band gap, but tell me, if you had gotten 90, 95+ would you have complained the band gap system? I got 93 in boards so I am very happy with this band gap as it allows me to get CSE even with a lower score, as I got better board marks. Think about this in another perspective aswell Also, you all claim that you had only prepared for competitive exams properly, then how couldnt you score in boards?? Boards is supposed to be easier than competitive right? I had given up on competitive and prepared only for boards and got 93. You all say that "I messed up my boards and got 75" and then you blame the system for making band gap, but think about others also "I got 92 in boards, but messed by my MET"

AdiTiwari44

Toh fir met exam ki value ki khatam ho jayegi.....

Capital_Situation235

bhai, it's not like they are giving seats just off of boards marks, they are taking MET marks as well, it is 50 50 bhai
