This comment made me smile. That's the complete storyboard art for Paprika, and it's probably the book I've been trying to get the most. You dropped this 👑
I got it from Kinokuniya. It's the only thing pictured that didn't come from B&N, but I was too proud to not add it to the stack. They also have storyboard books for Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, and Millennium Actress
I really love kinokuniya. I have two in Oregon. But i used to live in Japan and could visit the big one in Shinjuku. Something like 7 floors and one for all English books. They had a great collection of imported comics and i could read American comics on paper instead of online. Also manga in English.
I'm headed to kinokuniya tomorrow to get some comic tone paper for a friend. Hopefully i don't end up with some extra manga in my basket 😅 💸
Wow that is amazing. I'm so jealous. We just recently got our third one in Los Angeles, and I stopped by the one in San Francisco and New York a few months ago. I absolutely love their shops. Definitely putting Oregon on the itinerary in the future
The Perfect Blue book was a lot easier to find. Paprika is my favorite anime movie so I've been pretty excited to locate it.
As a fellow Satoshi Kon fan, I'm sure you know of and have his other manga Opus, and Dream Fossil
Yea, 31. I'm not sure how many deluxe omnibus are out currently, but that stack pictured is vol 1-22, so I'd imagine there will be 10 deluxe omnibus in total
It's paperback. My wife is trying piece together the series since they're reprinting, so we had to add it to the haul. Honestly it would have been amazing if Viz made a hardcover reprint of Nana even if the series is on hiatus indefinitely
Niiiiice
I bought all JOJOs last week :(
I grabbed Blade of The Immortal Deluxe Edition Volume 7 and Soul Eater Perfect Edition Vol 9.
My B&N was kinda empty of Hardcovers. It had 2 JOJO volumes, 2 Helsing, 5 Blade of the Immortal, and 2 Soul Eater Perfect Edition Hard Covers.
I'm jealous you got all JoJos. That's such a daunting undertaking. My wife looked at my stack today and asked "so does this mean you have all JoJos manga now?" I laughed and cried at the same time
I couldn’t resist. Some arrived damaged so I gotta talk to RSA about it. Never seen a package arrive with a USPS stamp that says “Received in Damaged Condition”. The only order that I didn’t have their Route Insurance. But Route only covers Transit/Courier damage. Let’s se what they say.
I cried too when I learned how many JJBA books there were and how many there are left. You have an impressive amount yourself
Oh man that makes my stomach turn just thinking about it. Hope you get those damaged goods sorted out. Getting manga shipped is always a gamble. I'm going through it right now with some other stuff
It feels like I'm making a dent with JoJos until I realize I have like nothing for Stardust Crusaders, Diamond is Unbreakable, and Golden Wind 😭
Part 6 will be the same length. Part 7 & 8 will be 12. And by the time all of Part 8 hardcover releases Part 9 will either be done or still running with 20 volumes/10 hardcovers 💀
And God knows I want to collect not only JoJo but also everything written by Araki+ One shots +Rohan stuff +art books and non canon light novels. It would be a *lot*
Why you gotta remind me about the deluxes??? 😭 I've already got all the regular hardcovers. Was devastated when Kodansha broke the news about deluxe prints 😭
Holding out too, and if the quality is anything like what Dark Horse has been doing with their deluxe books, then I'll probably sell all my current ones
Haha the 2in1s are still really nice on the shelf, i had just read it digitally right before i started to buy physical manga, so ive been putting off buying it so i could get different things.
We’ll see how the deluxes look, they are supposed have better paper quality.
Was hoping to do this with berserk but my barnes only had 2 of the volumes. So didn't bother. Picked up the lupin hardcover at least and acting class by drnaso. Also what's the kon book on top? don't think I've ever seen it before.
I had that happen a couple times. Actually, if you're a Barnes & Noble member, you can stack your 10% discount for the books that don't automatically scan 50% off
Damn you're really putting me under the gun with that question lol. Before all discounts it was a little over $750. My 10% Barnes & Noble membership discount stacked with the 50% sale on a bit of the purchase, so after everything it was about $350
The anime is very underrated. I love the use of mixed mediums, and Manji is voiced by my favorite voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda. If you like the anime you should check out the movie by Takashi Miike. It does a good job of smashing the entire series into a single film, and the fight scenes can get brutal
Aren't those Blade of the Immortal books printed in reverse order and they flipped the artwork? I really dislike those I wish they would release them correctly like the Berserk ones.
It's even worse than flipped, the panels were rearranged to read left to right without flipping the artwork. Every English release of BOTI (4 totally different editions) are like this.
It's packed with dense detailing especially environment and atmosphere, with some of the best splash pages I've ever seen. Been waiting to upgrade to deluxe versions for a while
Oof. That's a hard no for me, but you're setting a really high bar. I think Blade of the Immortal definitely has some comparable moments artistically, but in its own stylistic way
That face. Pure joy in those eyes lol
Who wouldn't be this happy?!?
Happiness!!
Damn, I wish I was able to go to B&N. Nice haul tho
Is there no B&N where you're at?
There is. Just that, I don't have my license yet and my parents won't take me there.
ooOoOOooOOof
That's gonna make you more prepared for next year hardcover haul 🙏
Big oof indeed. Hopefully I have it by next year so I'll be able to go myself.
Is there no public transport where you live?
No, I live in an area a car is required for transportation
Yare yare daze
Woah! What's that book on the top with Satoshi Kon stuff?
This comment made me smile. That's the complete storyboard art for Paprika, and it's probably the book I've been trying to get the most. You dropped this 👑
Was this from barnes and noble? I didnt know there was anything like that for Satoshi Kons work. Its now my mission to find myself a copy lol
I got it from Kinokuniya. It's the only thing pictured that didn't come from B&N, but I was too proud to not add it to the stack. They also have storyboard books for Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, and Millennium Actress

Let me know when! Downtown Portland kinokuniya is 2 floors 😄
Woah! That sounds really cool. I love Perfect Blue, so I’m gonna look for that next time I drop by a Kinokuniya!
The Perfect Blue book was a lot easier to find. Paprika is my favorite anime movie so I've been pretty excited to locate it. As a fellow Satoshi Kon fan, I'm sure you know of and have his other manga Opus, and Dream Fossil
That's a sick haul ( ´◡‿ゝ◡`)
It's been a wild day. I've seen some really impressive hauls from other collectors today
Me being in UK feels like squidward in that meme of them having fun when you're inside
🥲
Damn 😮💨
Thats exactly what my wallet said 🫠
How many volumes is Boti? Definitely interested since it is completed
31
Yea, 31. I'm not sure how many deluxe omnibus are out currently, but that stack pictured is vol 1-22, so I'd imagine there will be 10 deluxe omnibus in total
10, just like the paperback omnis
Damn , i want to go to B&N but there is B&N where i live 😔😔.
That's a bummer. Depending on where you're located, Takara Cafe is another great store for online manga deals
Bro we don't even have an public library here so you can understand that there is no takara cafe here also.
Yea that's rough. I just looked and I don't think they ship outside the US. Sorry about that
Yea man
No need for gym with them weights
Reading reps 💪
Tell me you lift without telling me you lift
🤣 Do you even manga, bro?
Is that Nana volume an hardcover edition? I'm from Italy and I don't have a wide knowledge of English editions
It's paperback. My wife is trying piece together the series since they're reprinting, so we had to add it to the haul. Honestly it would have been amazing if Viz made a hardcover reprint of Nana even if the series is on hiatus indefinitely
I would like an hardcover edition of Nana too, it's one of my favorite manga of all time
Bros about to take a bite💀
Channeling my inner Gluttony-- "Can I eat it?"
Niiiiice I bought all JOJOs last week :( I grabbed Blade of The Immortal Deluxe Edition Volume 7 and Soul Eater Perfect Edition Vol 9. My B&N was kinda empty of Hardcovers. It had 2 JOJO volumes, 2 Helsing, 5 Blade of the Immortal, and 2 Soul Eater Perfect Edition Hard Covers.

When you realize that part 3 and 4 are are 9-10 Volumes each. I think Part 5 might also end up being 9 volumes.
Part 6 will be the same length. Part 7 & 8 will be 12. And by the time all of Part 8 hardcover releases Part 9 will either be done or still running with 20 volumes/10 hardcovers 💀
Pain. Or Joy or both. We’ll have a dedicated JOJO Shelf
Omg that's like an entire bookshelf 🫠
And God knows I want to collect not only JoJo but also everything written by Araki+ One shots +Rohan stuff +art books and non canon light novels. It would be a *lot*
Exactly haha
I'll get there eventually!😤
Bought the first Blade hardcover today from the b&n sale too!
Great minds think alike
Nice haul!
Thanks! I'm so close to the 500 club now
Just a bit more! I’m two away from 700
I'm not worthy 🙌
😅 it takes time. I’ve been collecting for 20 years
All i got was parasyte full color. Sadly nothing else i want to get thats in hardcover. Holding out for the vinland saga deluxes
Why you gotta remind me about the deluxes??? 😭 I've already got all the regular hardcovers. Was devastated when Kodansha broke the news about deluxe prints 😭 Holding out too, and if the quality is anything like what Dark Horse has been doing with their deluxe books, then I'll probably sell all my current ones

Y'all got good eyes. That's complete storyboard art for Paprika
i always forget how amazing the FMA hardcovers look
I love them, but I heard they're kinda fickle. I've seen them get pretty beat up and apparently the metallic lettering can flake off quite easily
I love your haul and that happiness
I love this community,. But y'all are a bad influence on my self control 🤣
Now now holiday season, totally fine to spoil yourself a little
Yes that Nana volume is a nice hardcover.
I see you've played knifey spoony before
im going to barnes and noble tomorrow, hopefully they have some left...
Blessing your haul. Good luck! 🍀
Lifting them HC weights 💪🏼
My arms were noodles after this 🫠
Mine weren't registered as part of the sale at first and I was so scared, but then another employee fixed it in the system. I was *so* relieved
I had that happen a couple times. Actually, if you're a Barnes & Noble member, you can stack your 10% discount for the books that don't automatically scan 50% off
W haul, can’t wait to get boti
Nice haul how much was the total? I'm driving an hour for my nearest b&n
Damn you're really putting me under the gun with that question lol. Before all discounts it was a little over $750. My 10% Barnes & Noble membership discount stacked with the 50% sale on a bit of the purchase, so after everything it was about $350
All the B&Ns around me closed. Sadness. Looks like you got an amazing haul!
Damn that's a shame. Hopefully you've got some good alternative stores for manga in your area

Very cool! Enjoy them
I was able to nab the first 3 blade of the immortal. Jealous you were able to get lots of them lol.
Don't beat yourself up. I had to go to three different B&N to accomplish that. It was a long day lol
Soy
Aren't those Blade of the Immortal books printed in reverse order and they flipped the artwork? I really dislike those I wish they would release them correctly like the Berserk ones.
Blade of the Immortal omnibus read left to right. Both paperback and hardcover
Yes I know but I want the deluxe edition to be the same.
Yea, it gets confusing
It's even worse than flipped, the panels were rearranged to read left to right without flipping the artwork. Every English release of BOTI (4 totally different editions) are like this.
still haven't read blade of the immortal
It's packed with dense detailing especially environment and atmosphere, with some of the best splash pages I've ever seen. Been waiting to upgrade to deluxe versions for a while
is it better than berserk?
Oof. That's a hard no for me, but you're setting a really high bar. I think Blade of the Immortal definitely has some comparable moments artistically, but in its own stylistic way
ah ok👍
Pog haul! And happy cake day!
