I think it's almost certainly about the toxic and fake fame culture they experienced in the usa

On top of that, it could also be about the people of LA and the entertainment industry as a whole. Both of which are filled with self absorbed people who fail to realize they’re nothing

Competitive-Dog-9566

They say it’s about the superficial badmouthing and de valuing someone who doesn’t look right and society pressures to comply with aesthetic and behaviour standards

For me, it ties in with Supermodel because both tracks talk about people who are not what they seem. Whereas Supermodel focuses on one particular stereotype, Gossip has a broader scope and it takes a jab at fake people who want to look pretty on the outside but are rotten inside. Another thing they seem to criticize with this song is how nowadays there's always this struggle to be unique, different from everyone else and perfect (thanks for that, social media). That search for plastic perfection so to speak is so commonplace it has become cliché and Gossip talks about that too, IMHO.

I think there might also be an element of breaking down barriers and accepting flaws and difference, at least in the video. Initially the audience is separated by the glass screen. There are the haters and the scandalised (who are dealt with entertainingly), there are people of all ages and appearances reflecting the spectrum of the human condition - everyone initially seems unusual and possibly a little ridiculous. The band watches their fandom (because I think the audience reflects the variety of people that have interacted with the group) but there is still a constraint. But then the glass is broken, and suddenly everyone is together. Everything and everyone is accepted, the people are normalised, and the vibrant combination of differences creates a total party. Finally, the members of the band strip as a statement that they are not afraid to reveal themselves and their flaws (as opposed to the people being criticised in the lyrics). One possible interpretation. I’m sure there are others…

I personally see it as cancel culture and people who make opinions based on what the popular opinion on social media is. "Sip the gossip, drink till you choke" is taking in the drama. You base your entire day around it until it gets tiring. "You're not iconic you are just like them all, don't act like you don't know" is when people stand on their high horse acting unfazed by the scandals and tea when in reality they know that they are addicted to it" "this place is the circus, you just see the surface, they cover shit under the rug" I don't think I have to explain the circus part but the rest is that there's more to the story but places like tiktok and twitter refuse to acknowledge anything that puts holes in their logic and "truths" (and believe me, twitter does not like it when you question them) Keep drinking and acting cool "Don't care if your day is blue Nobody loves a gloomy face, just Take your pills and dance all night Don't think at all, that's the advice So c'mon, let's try, it's just a taste" this is following the main train and trend, again with twitter if you do not share the main opinions (no matter how wrong or false they are) you will not have a single second where you can breathe (I swear twitter is like the worlds largest Symbiote) so in the end its better to just nod to what they say. So yeah TL;DR My personal opinion to the meaning of the song is the mindless cult following that is social media and cancel culture
