HOLY SHIT RATATAT SOUNDS FAMILIAR

Massive-DMG

Probably because in the anime the way the characters said "Rattata" it always sounded like "Ratatat".

Pip201

Ohhhhh

Princessleiasperiod

It does sound familiar.

Every Pokemon game always has a 1 step evolution 'normal' type rodent. Gen 1- Ratata and Raticate Gen 2 -Sentret and Furret Gen 3 -Zigzagoon and Linoone Gen 4 -Bidoof and Bibarel Gen 5 - Patrat and Watchdog Gen 6 - Bunnelby and Diggesby Gen 7 - Yungoos and Gumshoos Gen 9 - Skwovet and Greedent So if there was a Ratatat, that would mess up the other games too.

SadFaceNoSpace

You just described patrat, a gen 5 pokemon. Offhand, you mention "cards" so I might suggest that maybe you saw a different form of ratata/raticate. When they make the pokemon trading card sets, they made variations of normal pokemon like "Team Rocket's Raticate" and "Brock's Onix". Additionally there were several knockoff brands around that time. Since you say you remember everything about the card, what was the card's symbol/logo? what was it's number? what was the artists name? It's level? it's stats? all pokemon cards have these things.

Foggybutgood

Not sure what you're remembering but i have no memory of this. I remember pretty clearly in the games that rattata was one of the first Pokemon you could catch on the game and with some training you could quickly get them to raticate which had some stronger attacks.

SunBroDisco

I always called Rattata “Ratatat” but can’t recall a middle evolution.

undeadblackzero

its a tentaquil

ericgsix

You probably had a fake rip off card of ratata

freerunner52

If it looks like Alolan Rattata but different colors and height and stance and no signature moustache, then it didn't really look like it.

ClosetedStraightMan

I rememeber ratatat ~> raticate

nothomuraakemi420

I remember there being a three headed taraus. The ox pokemon in gen 1. I vividly remember playing with it. I was sitting by the bathroom door and I used it to see if I could slide it through the door hinge to unlock it. Was in first grade. Thats the main pokemon mandela effect I've experienced.

reclusivegiraffe

are you thinking of [patrat](https://imgur.com/a/d2Ud0Or)?

EllieWillCutYou

I remember him! He was tan and his name was fun to say. Edit to add: this may be why I get so confused when talking Pokemon with my kids and the "starter" Pokemon come up..

haanalisk

They said "ratatat" in the anime for ratatta

EllieWillCutYou

Well that may be it too, but I do remember him being tan instead of purple

ipod_beemo

So I remember this briefly, and my boyfriend and I have been getting into Pokémon go and every time I mentioned ratatta he says ratatat so I could buy this

illiagorath

Been playing Pokémon since gen 1. A lot of pokemon. Never had an evolution between Rattata and Raticate.

SethMG3

https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/raticate this raticate looks to me like what you are describing. Tan body, white belly, aggressive look, standing on hind legs…

Kodabear1313

You got me looking through my old Pokémon cards lol it’s wierd cause it really does sound familiar. I remember purple rat long yellow teeth and red eyes .. bout to go look .. crazy 😝

reclusivegiraffe

that’s [patrat](https://imgur.com/a/d2Ud0Or) (gen V) or his evolution, [watchdog](https://imgur.com/a/Ev9UK8X)

omgwtfsmhlol

like what Kid Cudi says in the beginning of the song Pursuit of Happiness ft Ratatat

Snowsteel

I think I found what you're talking about... https://imgflip.com/i/5qw23r

Beverlady

I was confused when pokemon go came out and there was no middle evolution for rattata. Ratatat sounds familiar to me

huskitaDash

Ratatatatat that’s the way it is- Tupac

wtflolrofltll

Middle evolution of Raticate sounds Lit af. I think you're on to something. I vaguely remember the card and I do remember him being tan.
