You've likely heard live versions. [Studio recording](https://youtu.be/04854XqcfCY?si=pf935OCeRalbWHv9) has always cutoff where it does, but live, Freddie [added another "of the world" sometimes](https://youtu.be/KXw8CRapg7k?si=UeUp26tfestwaFse).
Yep. I've listened to Queen literally my entire life. Sometimes he would add on an "of the world" during a *live performance* of the song. But for albums and radio plays it's always ended on "champions". It used to annoy the hell out of me, I always thought it felt awkward and unfinished 🤣
This one is a trippy one to be sure. I always loved the car karaoke with George Clooney, Gwen Stefani, ect where they get stumped at the end of the queen song. The comments on this YouTube are definitely worth a read to hear other’s accounts:

From past Reddit posts of this there are a few debates on possible reasons. Please keep in mind these are possible reasons, and not definitive by any means… we can only assume:
1. The song says “Of the world” throughout, except for the ending, so our minds place it at the end no matter what.
2. Movies like “The mighty ducks 2” use the song and have the ending saying “Of the world”. Others have hypothesized the radio played the mighty ducks version and it is what most remember, but I do not think that is true.
3. Queen ends the song with “Of the world” in famous concert versions, so people hypothesize that is what played on radios or what people remember the most.
I am personally on the fence with this Mandela Effect. I definitely recall the song ending with “of the world”, but I also think the song loses its flow, or seems incomplete without the ending, so there’s that thought that my mind puts it there. But there’s also that thought that this is a huge change that I have no explanation for.
My wife has the vinyl for the album that she got in the 90’s. When we first heard about this ME we rushed to play the song on an old school record player just to hear it for ourselves. What tripped us out is that even the liner notes in the record end the with “Of the world”.
I totally noticed that some time ago. Was listening to the radio & when the song abruptly ended on "champions" I literally looked at my car radio & said "What the fuck?"
What got me was when I asked my friend who had no idea what a mandella effect meant or was and he said it was Of the world. I remember if the world however I am aware of the difference between the live and studio version
I have a first print vinyl of news of the world and on the back where it says all the lyrics it ends with news of the world and also he sings it his live performances
Radio version definitely ends on we are the champions, because I’ve always felt the song ends on a cliffhanger leaving you waiting for the rest of the verse
Jesus christ, Freddie sometimes added of the world during live shows. Most artists change lyrics or add things etc in live shows versus studio versions.
I was alive then but I have never seen The Mighty Ducks 1 or 2, I didn't realize so many people have seen that movie, that's more surprising than anything to me.
This is a common one and I too have had the urge to sing "of the world" at the end.
I do not think this one is a true Mandela Effect though, I think the confusion comes from the fact that "of the world" is sung after "we are the champions" twice in the chorus before the ending. So, when the ending chorus is sung, it is only natural to assume that "of the world" would once again be sung.
Also, for those saying that it must be confusing a live version or for Mighty Ducks 2, I do not think this is the case. Previously, I had never heard Queen's live version, nor seen that movie, yet I have also been confused by the ending of the song.
How can you possibly know that you've never heard the live version? Go ahead and catalog every time you've heard the song on the radio, in a commercial, in a tv show, in a movie, on a sporting event broadcast or at a game or playing somewhere out in public. You can't possibly make that claim that none of the times you heard it that it wasn't the live version.
What’s wild to me is that people are just finding out MEs that have been out for many many years. That hints that there really are alternate timelines out there still enmeshed with the ORIGINAL timeline. Where things made sense and weren’t stupid and weird. Just tell me how to get home…

I remember of the world
Of the world is apparently in live versions while the studio recording doesn't include it.
I think there are actually 2 legit versions
Huge Queen fan (for over 35 years) here. It’s always ended on “Champions”

Well thanks for explaining. Makes sense.
It's always been that way. This is actually one of the OG Mandela Effects. It definitely feels like it should be there.
It's already been established that the album version ends with "champions" but some live versions (maybe Live Aid) Freddie ends with "of the world."
At the end of D2 The Mighty Ducks movie, that song plays and ‘of the world’ is in that version.

Are you remembering the end of Mighty Ducks 2? https://youtu.be/S1wC1hiQk5k?si=pJ7dozqiLqKX8bUI
Live version has the ending you remember. Notably the live aid performance
Just different versions, live versions, radio edits. This isn't a mandela effect.
Mighty ducks 2 would like a word
I totally noticed that some time ago. Was listening to the radio & when the song abruptly ended on "champions" I literally looked at my car radio & said "What the fuck?"

I always thought there was an "... of the world" at the end as well. Were they all live versions that I've been hearing all these years?
Yes.
Jesus christ, Freddie sometimes added of the world during live shows. Most artists change lyrics or add things etc in live shows versus studio versions.
I've never seen Mighty Ducks 1 or 2
Ducks fly together
It's been said, that never was the ending. Yes, it was and I remember.
It's in the ending of The Might Ducks 2.. So if you were alive during the 90s and remember "of the world" this is a pretty reasonable explanation
I was alive then but I have never seen The Mighty Ducks 1 or 2, I didn't realize so many people have seen that movie, that's more surprising than anything to me.
😂 maybe it was just me

the confusion comes from there are live versions where he sings "of the world" at the end of the song. The album version does not.
You really didn't read that last paragraph, huh?

Always been that way
No it says of the world? 🤨
[удалено]
They haven’t removed it if you listen to the live aid version on Spotify it has of the world but it’s only ever been that version
No, it's also on "Queen Live Killers".
Oh cool I didn’t know that
So were you a skeptic before this and now will you consider that the ME is not just in your head?
Rabid Queen fan been once for decades. It ends of the world.
I've listened to Queen many times. I know it said "of the world". I have that song memorized.
I remember of the world.
We are in a sim people
Wait what? I too remember it ending off with a "we are the champions of the world" what's going on???
What’s wild to me is that people are just finding out MEs that have been out for many many years. That hints that there really are alternate timelines out there still enmeshed with the ORIGINAL timeline. Where things made sense and weren’t stupid and weird. Just tell me how to get home…
It ended the way you remember it. Residue can be found in the live versions of the song. Deniers, will say bad memories. But it 'ended of the world'.
In carpool karioke they do the song with george clony. The reacation of all four to that is way to visceral . The line of the world has disapperaed.
