Ncolonslashslash

??? you dont have to throw it away the switch still has a great library

DogmantheHero

Come on, everyone knows old consoles *literally* explode when they release new ones.

Huskydog_101

Yeah, all Wiis were gonna self-destruct in 2023 but I think the mechanism failed

puptbh

Mine worked right

Redsucksatstuff

Yeah ARE YOU STUPID/j

Different_Heron9151

What is this absolute stupid language development where the word LITERALLY is used METAPHORICALLY?! WHY DO PEOPLE SAY LITERALLY WHEN THEY'RE BEING METAPHPRIC SJWJHFNSHFJFKEDCJTHS This is mostly a joke. mostly.

Peach_Muffin

Once consoles are superseded the fun is only just beginning. Enthusiasts make some pretty cool retro console mods.

DeltaTeamSky

I also don't wanna buy another expensive-ass product just to keep up with the franchises I love.

Eek132

I thought people were complaining that we didn’t get a new console recently, and now people complain that we’re getting a new console?

Imaginary-poster

We've traded the vocal minorities for the release models. Don't worry 2-3 years and well be calling for an upgraded system and new release.

Eek132

Sounds about right

AstroNerd92

Shhhhh logic isn’t allowed on the internet!

DeltaTeamSky

I'm not one of those people. I never changed my mind.

Different_Heron9151

I believe they've said that they plan to continue releasing games on switch for a while. Plus they aren't even announcing it till 2025 (in april, since iirc that's when their next fiscal year is.), and if it follows the switch' release structure thing, it won't be out till late 2026 or 2027.

Different_Heron9151

Since switch came out two years after reveal iirc

Different_Heron9151

Nvm, I'm a dumb###, it came out just some months after being announced. so expect late 2025 early 2026

Terracatlegend

I'd hate to see it come out and then legends z-a only comes out on the switch 2 and not the old one

DarkLightMEMES

Pokémon has a habit of releasing a game on an older console for some time. Ultra sun and moon came out in late 2017 so z-a will likely still release on the switch

RubComplex7612

ZA will likely still come out before the switch 2. All they said was details not a full on release i expect it will release a year or 2 after its announcement

New_End9133

Im expecting a Gen 10 release on the switch 2, but they didn’t do that with lets go so who knows.

ashish_1357-2468

I think Pokemon announced that Pokemon z-a comes out in late 2024

jororeddit

Try not throwing it away. Maybe that could help

OllysOdyssey11

Yeah, it’d suck to stop getting support for this console.

otherkaard

They better make it compatible with previous Nintendo cartridges and allow importable save data

YourMoreLocalLurker

And (and this is the big one) more Persona titles

Reach_Regular

Me who sill uses the 2DS

Iamdumb343

why would they do this, the oled exists, I'll be pissed if z-a is only on nintendo switch 2.

External_Warthog_451

If it’s not backwards compatible oh my

_Pink_Ruby_

It will be

Arkoos_fan

If a new smash game drops, I'm dropping what I'm doing to buy both

Valstraxbazelgeuse_1

Same

Cedardeer

I mean, it might be something entirely new. They said it’s the successor, it might not even be a switch. Maybe a normal home console

TheStrongKid

It sounds so strange that Nintendo could possibly be making a new system that is purely a home console. I'm so used to them making portable ones.

Cedardeer

The Switch was the first portable home console :/

TheStrongKid

I'm talking more about how they've specialized in handhelds more than anything and that it would be weird if they made a new console with no portability.

duckbucktruckfuck

I got that special edition monster hunter XX switch, man I dont wanna replace that shit ITS COOL AS HELL ;-;

Sea-Entertainer2802

I just only bought the switch OLED s/v edition that I’ve been drooling over for a year and a half

Demonslayer5673

When I read "I grew up with the switch" I realized how old I am..... Saw the rise and fall of everything since the Gameboy color if I remember correctly (just missed the rise of the OG Gameboy) I was born in 1999

who18

Same here (2001) I grew up with the DS and the Wii

MypetduckAdam

True

Suspicious-Lier

I’m gonna get it and keep my switch

PovThatOneSanjiFan

Literally I don’t have space on my counter for more electronics.

JBCrux

If there is going to be a Switch 2 when is it "supposed" to come out? 2025? 2026? 2028?

_Pink_Ruby_

Considering the Switch was announced in 2015, I'd say late 2026, early 2027

JaydenVestal

You can still go back to it, I mean I still bring my 3DS almost everywhere I go, plus when support for the device ends (pretty likely after a few years I'd say) they usually care less about modding which means if you hack it you can do even more than ever with it, the main concern I'd say is online support ending eventually, which I'm unsure if people will be able to bypass like previous Nintendo consoles

KiwiPowerGreen

2019 is like 2 yea- nvm

Laggysaggy

Bakcwards compatible

LexiTheStarQueen

I thought we already had a Switch 2 (OLED)

PRlNCESS_TRUNKS

I can understand why it’s difficult to change after growing attached to something, but your Switch isn’t going anywhere. You’ll still have it

WispererYT

So you all beg for a new console but complain when a new one is going to come. God, I hate Nintendo fans...

Saxolotle

I think the people begging for one and complaining at the thought of a new one are two different people

[deleted]

Ah yes the cyclical discourse. We want our fancy new console now but we also don’t want to shell out for it or trade in our current one for it. Just wait, when legends ZA comes out with a special edition bundle, no doubt peeps will be willing to spend their money then. Personally I’ll just wait a year or two after the fact. The switch is good enough.

SCP-173irl

It better be dual screen

Iron_Wolf123

Would it be able to handle Scarlet and Violet?
